McCann expected back in lineup Wednesday

Catcher Brian McCann was out of the Braves lineup for the third consecutive game Tuesday as he continued to await the effects of a cortisone shot in his ailing right shoulder. Manager Fredi Gonzalez said he expected McCann to return to the lineup Wednesday against the Rockies.

McCann hit in the indoor cages and played some catch on Tuesday afternoon.

McCann’s cortisone shot Saturday night was his second in less than a month, after getting one on Aug. 7 in Philadelphia. McCann, who was diagnosed with a cyst and a frayed labrum, has hit only .171 (13-for-76) with no extra-base hits and two RBIs since Aug. 1.

“He should be good to go tomorrow,” Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said.

Hanson is useless. There was actually hype about this idiot when he was in the minors? For what? All he does is gives up homeruns and has one of the most retarded delivery motions in the games history. This clown is a joke, and he should be moved to the bullpen. He is only good for a inning or two as it stands. What a complete waste of space.

To be fair, he has only given up 2 runs. Not his fault this team has completely forgot how to score runs.

Hitters are having bad luck right now. Everybody has been hitting the ball hard but just right at somebody

Clap, clap, clap, good riddance you big red baffoon. Wish we were seeing the last of you in this rotation, but sadly the manager of this team is as dumb in making decisions as you are at pitching.

Keep McCann on the bench.
Hanson is worthless, not even good out of the bullpen. Hurts to watch him “pitch”.

I cannot believe that FG has Prado and Heyward hitting 5th and 6th against Colorado tonight. He has no clue what he is doing. This is why the Braves are currently losing 4 to 0.

Mac’s absence and lack there of production has really put us in a bind. Need him to regain the form he found in July. Hit balls hard tonight, just didn’t find any holes. Red didn’t pitch great, but pitched surprisingly decently enough to win this game. Just couldn’t do it. Hope we win tomorrow, going down to the Ted to cheer my boys on.

The Braves are in a difficult situation about BMAC as far as picking up his 13 million club option next year based on his health. I am not a professional baseball player but I had the same shoulder injury as Brian. I tried cortisone a couple of times but the pain from my shoulder to the tip of my fingers was very incomfortable. Eventually I had to have artho on my shoulder where they trimmed and cleaned up the labrum and removed the cyst which caused the shoulder to pop out. I had to rehabilitate my shoulder 3x a week for about 2.5 months. They therapist and doctor would not release me until I could walk my fingers up to top of my back pain free. The first rehab after surgery I could barely put my hand behing my back. The unfortunate thing about the surgery my shoulder has never been as strong, just imagine a baseball player. Wish you well BMAC.

Great, another below .200 hitter is just what our offense needed.
If Fredi benches Uggla, then he has to bench McCann, too. Bmac has been much worse than Uggla over the last month.

Really?

Hanson, to my suprise, pitched well last night. Except for the fact that he didn’t make it out of the 6th inning…. again.

He along with McCann should go play catch somewhere else.

With the injury to Bethancourt, Braves are almost forced to pick up McCann’s option…zero leverage to re-do that deal. Can’t believe we’ll be paying McCann and Uggla $25 mil next year….wonder if the Dodgers have more money burning holes in their pockets?

Absolutely right, Tick. Hell yeah, I want McCann back in the line-up, but I want him in the line-up healthy enough to swing a bat. If that takes a few more days, then give it to him. Catcher is a damn tough position, where you get beat up constantly. It’s not surprising that he might get injured, for cryin’ out loud.

Now, If you have a better alternative than Hanson to start in his position right now, then I’m all ears. His record does not accurately reflect how much he’s struggled this year.

Can’t blame Tommy last night, he pitched better than he has the last couple of outings. If we had scored the runs we need in the first 3 innings then the game would have been over. I get why Fredi put Martin and Jhey in rbi spots in the order. I would probably switch JHey and FF and leave Prado behind Jhey. Just my opinion, though.

I guess I’m playing Jesus Montero at catcher on my fantasy team from here on out. B-Mac hasn’t done jack for me in a good while, pretty much an empty spot that has a .000 batting average most nights. Its a shame he got hurt. B-Mac was supposed to be our next franchise guy after Chipper leaves. Oh well, if he doesn’t get better I can foresee the Braves letting him go after 2013 and Heyward will be the face of our franchise. Maybe Freeman too if he can get it together.

B-Mac might be better off in the American League where he could DH and take it easy when he’s falling apart. If he is looking for big bucks on his next contract I don’t see the Braves paying him because of this year and all the drama/injuries he’s had to endure.

I hope McCann gets back to normal but at this point its very doubtful. Hope Christian Bethancourt is ready to play the sooner the better. Maybe he could come up and back up or split time with Ross for awhile and get in the groove if B-Mac misses more time with his shoulder?

A shoulder injury on a catcher is almost as bad as a pitcher having the same problem, he can’t swing right and he throws the ball back to the pitcher all night long. Looking bad folks, we’ll know in the next couple days if he’s going to make it or if he needs surgery and will be done for the year.

Oh and Hanson is a #$%$*^& LOSER . He’s TERRIBLE. Learn how to pitch ya hippie. Every game he starts now we get pummeled he hasn’t even pulled his “get 10 runs in support and pitch terrible but still get a win” trick or the “walk 10 guys and give up 15 stolen bases but rely on our superior offense to bail him out” move in awhile its looking bleak for him.

I really think Teheran, Delgado, Cristhian Martinez, or Miguel Batista would have better chances to win us games than him at this point! Even Jurrgens!! Let him and Tommy switch places, send Tommy down the minors with a “groin” problem like they do all the other old has beens who fall apart or have a mental breakdown. This isn’t the time to hold his hand and baby him, we’re falling farther and farther behind the Nats every time “MMMmmmm Bop” Hanson takes the mound and I’m angry. Every game we win the Nats win that day so we’re literally stuck between a rock and Tommy Hanson.

Enough is enough Fredi, you benched your buddy Dan Uggla now bench the rest of the problem players so we can get on with things and send Chipper out a winner this year!

Do the facts that he’s had short hair since mid-season, and gave up two runs in 5-2/3 innings last night, matter at all? (Although I do agree he’s been an overall disappointment since 2011 All-Star break.)

DOB, have you spoken with the scouts from other teams about what they see as Uggla’s problems? Also, a few friends have run into him out and about late at night a good bit over the past few months and he was feeling no pain. Don’t get me wrong, because Ken Stabler was one of my favorite players and he could stay out the night before a game as well as anyone but he always performed. I don’t expect him to stay home and work on a Sunday School lesson every night but are there any rumblings that his nightlife may be part of the problem?

I was disappointed with the response Uggla had about his benching. It shows he is in denial about his performance of late and that he does not think he needs to make any adjustments at the plate. From my couch, it looks like he would benefit from moving up in the box (closer to the pitcher). He is ahead of everything and this could put some of the hard hit foul balls into fair as well as get to the breaking balls before they are in the dirt. But until he faces the fact that what he has been doing is not working and opens up to a different approach, he can stay on the bench.

I can answer that question: Just like your buddy who “duck hooks” all his drives O/B, Mr Uggla has a swing problem that he is either unwilling or incapable in changing.

There are many who could hit 30 HRs if they simply swung as hard as they could at 3000 pitches. (Uggla)

I was disappointed to hear that Fredi was benching Uggla for the rest of the season. He plays wonderful defense and who knows …… he could break out any minute and we really need that. The only thing that would make this season worthwhile (if the Braves don’t make it to he playoff) is for management to fire the great Fredi Gonzalez!

Yes, he has been disappointing this year compared to his first year as well as 2nd year.

However, last night was solid. 5 2/3 innings, 8 ks. He pitched well. No offense though.

Said it before, have to say it again: fredi HAS to go! What a numbskull bringing Uggla back in the lineup. The man never learns a thing. You would think with last years disaster with Blowe he woulda learned his lesson. GOD, I am so sick of looking at him, and watching him destroy our team.
