Maholm is about to give up another five runs.
That at bat by Ross was as bad as it gets by a position player. Freeman not a lot better, trying to hit the dinger.
vitriol spewer (phil)
Boy Ross looked awful….sigh.
We have 28 more games of this crap to suffer through?
Watching from up north and just heard the Philthies announcers say that the Braves are 15 for their last 110 with runners in scoring position….sounds about right….this is about as pathetic as it gets…
September 2nd, 20125:45 pm
I think I’m gonna fire up the playstation and play MLB 12 the show, seems to be my only way to see a Braves team play well. SMH
If they get shutout today, I think that will kill this team for the season. If they make it close, who knows.
this has the look of a 12-0 game…martinez will come in soon and the rest of the back of the Braves pen and it will get uglier.
September 2nd, 20125:46 pm
Ross was swinging like my old lady…couldn’t hit crap last at bat.
When was last time Braves scored 6 runs in a game?
This team is wretched right now.
I hope the braves miss the play-offs and Fredi and Frank get their pink slips. I would have liked to see them in the post season but they would be a huge embarsement to the fans and the city of Atlanta. If they won the right for the one game playoff Fredi would probably start Hanson because he is that stupid.
FIRE FREDI GONZALEZ
Fredi 9-20 in September.
Too little too late. Fredi killed this team once again.
September choke 2 : Electric Boogaloo
Maholm has sucked to since he came here. Like most players that come here, they can be great before they come here, then they get struck by the Braves curse. Haven’t seen a lack of drive and determination from a team with a winning record like this in for ever.
September 2nd, 20125:47 pm
Nice play Marteen and Paul!
DOB; What can we do man? are we wretched w/ our sports team, man, seems like our team just turns itself into a joke, I love the ATL, everything about it, proud to call it home, but geez man, why do we have to be yo-yo’s about our team?
Beautiful play… even if we didn’t get 2. (and Janish wasn’t touching the bag, btw)
Hope Frandsen is okay.
Whew! Could you have a worse start to an important game? It is times like this when a manager is most valuable. The good ones are able to motivate their team, get inside their heads/hearts and make adjustments that get things turned around. The very best coaches are masters at this aspect of team management. Lombardi was a master. Coach K is another example. With his own unique low key management style, I thought Bobby Cox had this rare gift. You can’t win 14 straight division titles without being very good at sizing up your players, the team, their morale/mood and then knowing what buttons to push. This most important aspect of management just may not be Fredi’s strength.
Freeman has a ton to learn. His last AB showed stubborness and age.
Wheres the positive people at?
lol poor losers fans…only comes here for insult fredi gonzalez,,,why dont only insult the ballplayers?? fredi is not batting or pitching or even fielding in the field…. what he can do with the poor interest by owners for buy good players??? he only send the players he have under his orders…
even connie mack or joe torre or any other manager could make this team play well…
Fore Freddi G.
Still think Braves make the playoffs…….here come the Cardinals to dispatch them again. Between Liberty Media and Freddi, this team is totally scareeeewed!
September 2nd, 20125:48 pm
Kool and the gang are singing celebration in the Phillies dugout.
I t will take the Braves six games to score six runs so kiss this one good bye.
Glad to here Simmons coming back wonder to we put him on the mound. Always hear Ross could start for another team he would hit .200. Game over unless you lisen to Chip and Joe. Why dont they tell the thruth and just say we going to get shutout unless someone hits a homer. Go Rockies kick are easy ass. Fire Freddi TODAY. WE lost let Maholm pitch 7inings no matter what the darn score is
September 2nd, 20125:49 pm
As unlikely as the math looks – I wouldn’t be surprised to see these Phillies playing in October. They’re a very different team than the one that the Braves played earlier this year…
Save for perhaps Chipper and Prado, there is only one Philosophy for the Braves the last several years, and one only: TRY TO HIT BALL TO THE MOON when men are on base.
Mahorrible had a game ERA of 135.0 before the second out….
Come on guys, gotta cover 1B there…
So sick of looking at Utley’s mug out there….who covered?
Dont expect any of the Atlanta media to call out Fredi.
The media here is a joke. They will call for the Hawks coach to get canned but Fredi gets a pass.

Your pitching can suck, but you dang well better hustle.
Wow, Maholm, way to back up the play.
Oh come on, go cover 1st! Geez!
he’s never going to make 7 innings even though you are right, he’s at 53 pitches in the second
Inexcusable brain yelp Maholm
Bobby Cox took a team worse than this to the playoffs in 2010.
September 2nd, 20125:51 pm
Way to cover the bag, Mahorrible…..
These guys really ARE comatose. My cat knows to cover the bag there.
Entire organization deserves the blame… Fredi, the players, Wren, every single one of them. They have no clue how to get it done over 162 games.
Would-be DP was wiped out when neither Maholm nor Prado covers 1st base after Freeman’s nice pick and throw to 2nd.
Great play by Janish!
Well just too many selfish ABs where everybody is more concerned with the 3 run bomb over working the count and getting on base.
Get Maholm OUT NOW! Fredi just can’t afford to keep him in this.
September 2nd, 2012
“Fight Fredi Fight”! Wouldn’t that be the epitome of an oxymoron
FREDI does not have enough emotion or guts to get in a fight.
If you listen carefully, you can hear the fat lady beginning to sing. The ship is sinking. The annoying Leonardo di Caprio is freezing his a** off but sill clinging to the piece of driftwood. Pretty soon he will drift down into the abyss. It’s almost over folks.
What are we going to do with Dan UggLOWE for the next several years?
September 2nd, 20125:52 pm
It isn’t Fredi pitching and hitting. These ladies just don’t have the guts to get this done.
J-Man you are right. If Larry Drew made this many bad moves there would ba a blog about it everyday and the hawks are making the playoffs.
September 2nd, 20125:53 pm
Jeffrey D – That siht don’t bother me. I read the recruiting blog. lol.
Way to go, JHey!!
Just play baseball, don’t even think about last year or whatever. Let it go.
September 2nd, 2012
there’s not one thing to be positive about, so there you go.
Chipper is no doubt thinking about shooting a moose in the F-ing face in early October.
Nova Scotia Steve
September 2nd, 20125:54 pm
I will say this much:
If we don’t start hitting against the Rockies and their disaster of a pitching staff – we are in more trouble then you may think.
Outta here to bedroom to listen on radio. Wishin for TED and TBS.
September 2nd, 20125:55 pm
Right on, J-Man, right on target. Many see it, but many also are blind to it.
Hey DOB, Do the players seem snake beaten in the clubhouse? It seems to me as if they expect to fail. Just an observation as to how they are at the plate.
Its tough to be positive today. Short of Yawnish and Teeen in the field nothing positive to report.
Terrible ABs by Freeman and Ross with runners on 2nd and 3rd.
Mahomie throwing meat and not covering 1B when he should.
Then to top it off, Uggla complaining about not starting because he hit a dinger one time off Hamels. Yet, last time they held him out against Hamels ity was genious because he looked as if he may be coming around and didn’t want his confidence being destroyed. Of course we now know he didn’t come around. Can you imagine complaining about not playing when you are leading the league in Ks and batting 205??
September 2nd, 20125:56 pm
I think the main reason the media isn’t more critical of Fredi is that the team has had juuuuuuust enough success. If they collapse again, it’s the lions in the Coliseum and Fredi is the bait.
there’s not one thing to be positive about, so there you go.
We have the top wild card spot. We’re 15 games above .500. We have the 3rd most wins in the NL.
But no, a losing streak means that we’re never going to win/score again.
whoops..except right now.
Yes! Reed Johnson!!!
September 2nd, 20125:57 pm
I like Reed Johnson….needs too play more
Exactly there is a hypocrisy here. Larry Drew makes the playoffs and even has won a playoff series yet Bradley and Schultz have wrote blogs on how Drew should get canned yet Fredi and Mike Smith get a pass. I am a white man but it does make you think that maybe its because Drew is black.
September 2nd, 20125:58 pm
Keep it rolling Bravos!!!!
I am glad the Phillies use Michael Martinez as a starter because he is terrible.
There’s something to cheer!
All is well!
J-man careful saying Harley can cause some on here to come unglued.
Head first slide into home…disaster waiting to happen….
I am a white man but it does make you think that maybe its because Drew is black
No, it’s because he sucks.
And how does saying you’re white help that argument?
Good job moving the runner over, Paul!
September 2nd, 20125:59 pm
Just a fly ball
Solid at bat by Janish.
“Hammels not on today’, per the philly announcers
September 2nd, 20126:00 pm
Hamels doesn’t look so good either.
I was unaware that Fredi was a U.S.-born Anglo-Saxon
jeffery you are the eturnal optomist.
Drag bunt? Simpson….Ha, Ha, Ha
The Braves have some awful-hitting pitchers. My goodness.
CaptainMudd breaking out the Kool…nice.
September 2nd, 20126:01 pm
Bourn hitting .229 since all star break
One measly run…
Utley must be feeling better.
Dang. Well, at least we got one. Now Maholm can give it away.
noooo, I think I’m pretty normal. I find it hard to act like the world is collapsing when we HOLD THE TOP WILD CARD SPOT
September 2nd, 20126:02 pm
Just a single by Bourn there would have been huge
September 2nd, 2012
I believe he is Cuban, not that there is anything wrong with that.
Needless to say, if the Phillies had Dan Uggla playing secondbase, Boun’s groundball would have snuck though the infield for an RBI single.
Uhhh… you idiots claiming racism might want to remember that Fredi is Cuban – ergo “Latino” according to the US Census, and a supposed member of an “oppressed/disadvantaged” minority. Larry Drew might have more white/Caucasian blood in him than Frediot.
I’m not sure Fredi deserves all the blame here, guys. Cox fizzled every year when it counted most, too–he just waited until the playoffs to do it on a bigger stage.
And I loved Bobby. But this team suffers from some kind of inferiority complex. It has been coursing through the arteries of their anatomy for years. Regardless of the player and coaching changes they make, they’re just faders. They are the Greg Norman’s of MLB. Some brilliant strokes throughout, but just can’t finish at the end.
At least Fredi has the nads to sit his boy Struggla as well as the future of the franchise, McCan’t. No way would Bobby have meddled with their egos the way Fredi has.
September 2nd, 20126:03 pm
well jeffery, Larry Drew has won more with less yet, Fredi hasnt caught any criticism from the Atlanta media. At least Mike Smith has caught some where the writers are saying he needs to win 1 playoff game. Fredi has choked a 10 game wild card lead last year and is in the process of choking again yet Bradley and Schultz are giving him a pass. I personally wish we had a different basketball coach but if your gonna call out Larry Drew then Mike Smith and most certainly Fredi Gonzalez deserve more heat than Larry Drew.
Great play by one of their star players on Bourn. Of course thats why he is a star player!
Ric Flair to Right
I can tell you all this without pause…Bobby Cox would have never let this team tank last year o this year…say what you want but BC knew how to motivate and pull a team together…Fredi is as bad at this as I’ve ever seen!
September 2nd, 20126:04 pm
The braves held the WC spot for all of September last year
Braves 1-for-8 with RISP in 1st 2 innings, 2-for-21 in the series
Maholm has less than 50 more pitches before Fredi takes him out, so he needs some 8 – 9 pitch innings.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
