OK Venice Jim — you’ve discovered the truth. I am perfect.

Perfection? Hardly. Why would I dabble HERE on the Internet if I was anything close to that. But personally, when people around here post NO opinions yet criticize others for EVERY SINGLE take they post, that’s ridiculous. Many are dumb, of course. But have at it. It’s all about the First Amendment.

And notice — I’m not in that post, am I, or did I post much negativity on tonight’s blog. Just to make sure, I went through all my posts. Worst thing I said was,

“September 2nd, 2012

Brian — ANYTHING that would help Gonzalez NOT make moves in the lineup helps this team in so many ways.”

Oooh. Oh, sorry, that’s a kiddie word. I guess I’m not perfect.

Great win.

This team has shown plenty of heart this year. It is just too bad that Uggla and Mac aren’t playing like Uggla and Mac of a few years ago. That 6-8 hole in the lineup is hard to creatively plug up on a consistent basis. Simmons’ return and Medlen’s continued good work are reasons for optimism. I hope it’s enough.

For those of you who care to investigate it, Braves under Cox were dead in the water. They didn’t win the next night, but look at the string of wins that team ran off. 30 of 41 or something like that. Really a game-changer.

Finally Fredi sits both McCann and Uggla. Tonight’s lineup was definitely the strongest we can field and I hope Fredi keeps this in mind going forward. Just an incredible win and a Chipper walk off to boot. Manuel must have fallen asleep because no way in hell Chipper should not have been given a pass there. Incredibly stupid move but we’ll take it.

Reports are that Uggla got into a shouting match with Fredi over his demotion or benching. Probably gonna get real pissed when his starts become fewer and farther between. Prado ain’t sitting and Reed Johnson is going to play LF. Prado is probably at 2nd for quite awhile. Maybe that will light a fire under Uggla.

Bottom line is we lost another series which now makes 5 straight series where we have lost 2 games. That will run you of any post season if it continues. Maybe Chipper’s heroics tonight can give us the momentum we need to start racking up wins. It will also help if McCann and Uggla play sparingly and Hanson is sent to the pen.

All vitriol aside, it’s a tough spot for Fredi, dealing with Uggla. Lots of factors pulling in different directions.

Braves would be at their best if Uggs returned to his career form.

But when will that happen, if ever?

Few players get out of slumps sitting on the bench.

How much damage do you do to the relationship if you bench him (he is here for 3 more years). And does that matter?

Is there pressure from management not to leave $13 million sitting on the bench? I wonder how much feedback he gets from upstairs about day-to-day lineups.

Pretty sure I know most folks’ opinion (More of Marteen at 2b and RJ in LF). And I don’t really disagree. But it is a pretty tight spot for Fredi.

I suspect the 2 wild cards will eventually play a best 2/3.
Baby steps.
The difficulty will be in getting the season shortened. I suspect it is more likely that teams will agree to schedule 2 day/night doubleheaders a year. (Everyone plays 4). Shortening the schedule by 4 days.

I’m sure there’s a problem with that somewhere.
