About the Braves:
Batting: The Braves had scored two or fewer runs in eight of their previous 13 games entering Sunday. They’d hit only .142 with runners in scoring position in their previous 14 games (15-for-106). Dan Uggla and Brian McCann were hitting just .195 combined over those 14 games. Freddie Freeman went 6-for-14, with one double, one triple, two home runs and seven RBIs in three games against the Rockies in Colorado. He’s hitting .435 (20-for-46) with eight home runs and 18 RBIs in 11 games against them for his career.
Pitching: Medlen brings a 28 1/3 innings scoreless streak into this start, the longest by a Brave starter since Greg Maddux threw 39 1/3 scoreless innings in 2000. Medlen gave up his last run four starts ago in the second inning against the Mets on Aug. 11. He is 5-0 with a 0.66 ERA in six starts since moving into the Braves rotation. The Braves have won a franchise-record 17 straight games he has started dating back to 2010, before his elbow reconstruction surgery.
Miscellaneous: The Braves swept the Rockies May 4-6 in their last meeting in Colorado, after outscoring the Rockies 29-19.
About the Rockies:
Batting: The Rockies scored 20 runs in their past two games. Atlanta native Dexter Fowler is 6-for-his-last-12, including a grand slam on Saturday in his first start back from a week of limited action due to a sprained ankle. Catcher Wilin Rosario has hit three home runs in his past four games and leads the Rockies with 23 homers. Augusta native Tyler Colvin is hitting .370 (10-for-27) over a seven-game hitting streak, with two doubles, one triple, three home runs and 11 RBIs.
Pitching: Chatwood has gone 3-2 with a 3.72 ERA (allowing 10 earned runs in 26 1/3 innings), while giving up a .268 opponents’ batting average in six starts since his return from Triple-A Colorado Springs. The 22-year-old went 1-1 with a 7.62 ERA in seven relief appearances in his first two stints with Colorado this season.
Miscellaneous: The Rockies are last in the NL West and 20 games out of the lead, but they have won 10 of their past 14 games.

I like Sonny Clusters. Appreciate the humor, and agree with many of his points. But might want to lay off Chipper for a day or two. Wow!!

With Janish, McCann, Uggla plus the pitcher spot in the line up each day its hard to win series when the Braves are giving up so many outs with that line up. Its like the Hawks playing four against five. Impossible!

Make that a 4.57 ERA for Big Red and climbing. And, make that an 89 MPH heater and declining. One can only hope he gets drunk and totals his car on the way to the park. And, has Uggla in the car. Dan could then carry the car to the repair shop.

Is it just me or when the Braves play teams with a losing record they are playing their best baseball of the year? Cubs, Padres, Phillies. Now the Rockies have won ten of fourteen. Tough luck i guess?
