oh c’mon, if he acted like he wasn’t upset, you’d be ripping him for not caring enuff
The A Bomb
September 1st, 20129:25 pm
Actually, I just want to see SOMETHING between the lines that gives me any hope.
vitriol spewer (phil)
September 1st, 20129:26 pm
Make that 70-0….gotta go for 100.
hope kills the soul, better to live in despair and not get disappointed……
September 1st, 20129:27 pm
You saw Prado’s meaningless homer, right?
There’s your hope….
Well, not really.
September 1st, 20129:28 pm
I just want to see consistency out of this team for a season — doesn’t matter about playoffs.
The last 2 seasons with pretty good records BTW have been pretty painful to watch at times.
The one thing you know I agree with Fredi about is “moving the lineup.” That’s much more entertaining (to me).
September 1st, 20129:30 pm
Actually VITRIOL — I didn’t see it.
Not telecast here in SoCal.
But I’ll watch it on my phone in a few to give me HOPE.
DiamondbackMac – Thanks for posting that tweet. Chipper’s earned his right to relax with that icepack on his shoulder and knees. I don’t know if you 40 or +, but I don’t see how he still does it.
September 1st, 20129:31 pm
But hope with our ga sports teams is a dangerous thing.
Mercer delivered but that’s it for a looooong time now.
The A Bomb
I posted Chipper’s tweet because I’m an Alabama fan. And, I didn’t see anything negative about the tweet. Apparently you’re the only one who can find negativity where none exists. That is very telling.
September 1st, 20129:38 pm
Mac — Well you should be happy.
And as far as negativity — I just don’t understand WHY he had to include the baseball statement with the football stuff. Bama stuff was fine…..but in the final month of a career — that little blurb about baseball hits me the wrong way. Just leave it out.
Teammate reading that? Not sure as a leader that’s what you want to say. But Tweeting is the new way to express yourself to the masses, I guess.
September 1st, 20129:39 pm
nolie: I hope you are watching “Copper” on BBC Amercia…it’s outstanding and a lot better than some of the reviews.
September 1st, 20129:40 pm
man, you can twist anything into a negative
I see nothing negative about it at all.
September 1st, 20129:42 pm
saw the first episode ken, looked promising. reminds just a bit of Deadwood and Hell On Wheels,, in the dreariness and dirt of the settings./ Makes me appreciate not having lived in those days.
September 1st, 20129:44 pm
Maybe because I don’t live in the south and I’m not subjected to the regional stuff you guys hear every day I can take a more objective view of things.
I love Chipper — he’s having a terrific grand finale. But you have to be careful what you post on social media — Facebook and Twitter. Especially when you’re famous and revered.
September 1st, 20129:47 pm
Fredi said on the post game press conference that our offense isn’t doing it’s job and that we have to do something to get them going. Uh, you mean like sitting McCann and Uggla down the rest of the year Fredi?
what stuff? I am no more affected by stuff up in Atlanra than you are from out there, I think that is way off base.
It has to do with established personality patterns, which is the reason that every team’s blog is exactly the same.
September 1st, 20129:48 pm
I’m on Netflix, just started watching a series called “Jericho” only 2 seasons and got cancelled but its pretty good so far into 2 episodes.
September 1st, 20129:49 pm
Medlen pitches tomorrow—-we should get a win, even v.Cole Hamels. That’s how good Medlen’s been. He’s on one of those runs like Orel Hersheiser went on in 1988. Medlen will be lights out now until the end of the season!.
September 1st, 20129:50 pm
But you have to be careful what you post on social media —ABomb
again I fail to see ANYTHING negative about what he posted. a perfectly normal human reaction. and like I said, if he did not display any emotion, you would be finding all kinds of dire aspects to that
Agreed on the personality patterns nolie.
Some here take the all roses path.
Some here take the either-way path.
Some here — admittedly like me — take the get-with-it path.
All good for discussion as long as it doesn’t get personal. I likely won’t respond to that. Last night my take on body language was called “foolish.” So be it. His take. I’ll stick with mine.
September 1st, 20129:52 pm
yeah Jericho was decent. second season is short. I think they made a major mistake in the last episode of season one. see if you pick up on what I mean when you see it
All good for discussion as long as it doesn’t get personal…AB
September 1st, 20129:53 pm
We are 2/3 of the way through this sweep that I said was gonna happen. Frankly, it doesn’t really matter to me if we make the playoffs or not for one simple reason. I heard the other day that Fredi intends to try to manipulate the rotation so that Hudson pitches that one-game wild card playoff. That is just plain dumb to me. The Braves have only one pitcher that can be counted on to win that game, you we all know that it is Medlen. If anyone else is selected, then the Braves deserve to get their asses handed to them.
You’re in the stretch –
Final month of career.
Hall of Famer.
For the love of the game.
Why would you tell the world you don’t want to talk baseball? Just leave it alone. People who love the guy don’t want to hear that. Say nothing IMO. We all know it’s been a tough 2 weeks. Leave it alone and spew all you want after you’re done. He’s a hero to too many people.
But I’m not losing respect for the guy. Just a questionable clause. Just talk about ‘Bama beating the crap out of Michigan or whatever. Great. But he’s the team leader.
September 1st, 20129:55 pm
Medlen isn’t pitching tomorrow. It’s Maholm.
September 1st, 20129:56 pm
its not reading the body language, it is knowing what is causing it that we really know nothing about without being there and seeing the context.could be any number of reasons ot combination of reasons that we can not be aware of.
foolish is not all that bad really, we are all foolish at times…even me and I’m almost perfect
I like the get with it path too.
We clearly aren’t.
But i don’t read much into what chipper said.
September 1st, 20129:57 pm
Wiser take as usual. I defer to your wisdom. Even though it might be “foolish.”
Lousy BUMB game by the hometown BUMBS today and they got what they deserved.
September 1st, 20129:58 pm
We are 2/3 of the way through this sweep that I said was gonna happen…Jerry
well gee, I said there was a good possibility too the night b4 the series started, so not all that impressive Jer
Just as I leave — KUDOS to the KING OF BUMBS for correctly predicting the final score.
He deserves to be Booed.
September 1st, 20129:59 pm
I took the opportunity to go to the game today & proud to say that I gave Mc Shamm the BOOS he deserved
I am glad I Booed him, it makes me feel like a big shot now.
I am gonna make a couple more games and will keep BOOING the BUMB if he keeps this LOB dog dung up.
Of course he’ll want to pitch Hudson in a one game playoff…..
Why should results matter?
September 1st, 201210:00 pm
no question Disgusted, they deserved to be booed today. . BOOOO!!!
If, and that’s not even a real stretch, the Braves choke during this stretch drive for the second consecutive year, I can’t wait to hear the players once again state how they have forgotten all about the previous two chokes.
September 1st, 201210:01 pm
Brian Mc Shamm is now over the hill. He is finished and the option should not be picked up.
Kratz > than Mc Shamm.
September 1st, 201210:03 pm
I like to Boo, it will add 7 yrs to my life.
I am glad I Booed him, it makes me feel like a big shot now.
Wow, that’s what it took? I wonder if it’ll work for me…
To Disgusted and all the other pessimists: BOOOOO! Wow, it worked, I feel like a big-shot and know-it-all now.
September 1st, 201210:06 pm
Is there a mercy rule in college football Okie State 63 Savannah State 0 ,11:33 left in 3rd quarter. And guess who Savannah State plays next week? Florida State.
Well on their way to the National Championship game. Let’s do this. Go ‘Noles!
what should they say Jerry? You feel better if the pour out their soul admitting publicly that they are scared silly that it will happen again? You think that is the right way to approach the problem, admitting to all the other teams that they are running scared?
September 1st, 201210:07 pm
Anybody going to see the new Clint Eastwood movie? Looks pretty good. Being a Braves scout helps, but Gran Tarino was real good, so I’ll try this one.
September 1st, 201210:08 pm
Wasn’t trying to be impressive nolie. And you’re right, I bet a lot of people said the same thing. They are in the midst of their downfall. In their last 4 series, they have 3 series losses and one split. And some make a big deal about how many games Atlanta will play against losing teams, but in the last 4 series, they have series losses against 2 of those teams with losing records, Padres and Phils.
September 1st, 201210:11 pm
Some of you need to realize what will happen, will happen. We have no control, though I know you still want to scream and punch a wall LOL! Just except something out of your control might just happen. Really, it sucks I know, but in the end it’s just a game.
I still think we make the playoffs, but maybe not. Aw well, still gonna have bills coming in regardless.
I know Jer, I was just ribbing you, but I did post it as a possibility and I am sure many others thought so too, like you say
My prediction is more like 5-24 the rest of the way.
September 1st, 201210:13 pm
So did I….
We’re all haters.
Full flaps tip stall…bravos playing with half a lineup 6-9 is vapor
I’ll go with double figgers at least….
September 1st, 201210:14 pm
Ah, you’ll be 5-24 in your predictions Disgusted? i’ll take that. That might get us the division right there!
Expect 16-19 wins…. more if we get hot.
pretty much nolie. They should admit to the world that they can’t do jack shyt and cower in the corner. Then and only then can the team’s hierarchy realize that mistakes were made and set out to correct them instead of running the same core of bullshyt out there year after year. I know, not realistic, but it was fun saying it.
we all have times when we feel pessimistic anyway
The team motto for September should be “Expect 2 Lose”
September 1st, 201210:15 pm
Booing a team is not being a pessimist. When a team performs poorly they deserve to get booed. It’s the way fans can express their displeasure.
September 1st, 201210:16 pm
Booing a team is not being a pessimist.
It is when you do it after every loss….
September 1st, 201210:17 pm
Ok Disgusted. Let out what you need to let out however you need to do it. By God if that helps you I’m all for it.
If the Braves played with the same passion with which Kevin Harvick drives a stock car, we’d be awfully tough to beat….
He’s afraid of nothing and no one.
At some point, you have to admit that you weren’t the better team that day… There are times when the team messes up and that costs them the game, but you can’t boo every night and get mad over it.
September 1st, 201210:18 pm
That is alot to ask TOBF. Oh well, I warned you, so if your rose colored glasses predciction is wrong than don;t say I did not warn you.
I would like it if you are the one who is right.
Optimisim is the set up for disappointment in my book. That is how I look at it,
My favorite sports teams have disaappointed me too many times.
September 1st, 201210:19 pm
September 1st, 2012
If it’s deserved after piss poor play, it’s not
September 1st, 201210:20 pm
wow, I totally disagree with that buddy. I’ve spent a lot of time around pro-level players over the years in baseball and in pool and I never talked to any one of them who would use that approach. you gotta buck up and hunker down and convince your self that you can get past all the problems, not blubber in a corner like a girly-man ……
That is fair enough CTB, this is how I let out my disappointment in the team.
I do not throw things or cuss those around me, I only Boo at the stadium, not alot of yelling.
And I do not make life miserable for those around me in real life. I vent on blogs like this.
September 1st, 201210:21 pm
Sure you can….you can do as you please within the bounds of the law or rules or the like, depending on where you are.
Fredi G. needs to be fired and either have TP take over as interim manager or bring someone in like Sandburg. We are 4-10 in our last 14 and showing no signs of life. With the meltdown we had last year combined with our play here recently we cannot wait to the offseason to make a move. TP’s one chance to be the Braves manager is to start as interim manager and do well. Ifthe Braves completely collapse again I would bet Wren would go a completely different direction.
Yes it is true Fredi cannot hit for the players and it is the players who must step it up but we cannot bench or trade our whole team. We can shake things up though by firing the manager.
Right now, over the last 15 or so games the Phillies are the better team.
September 1st, 201210:22 pm
You are correct CTB. When all is said and done, it’s just a game and nothing that takes place across those foul lines in gonna imapct on our daily lives. Certainly the Braves winning a playoff spot if not gonna pay my mortgage note. If they win, fine. If they lose, I will not lose sleep. I stopped losing sleep over this team when they went on strike back in 1994. Never been the same since.
Peter Moylan @PeterMoylan
So many people to thanks I wish I could list you all. One of the best days of my life today, persistence is a powerful weapon
Optimisim is the set up for disappointment in my book. That is how I look at it,
And so I guess with pessimism, it can only be better than you expect? That’s fine, but it sure is a lot of stress and anger that seems to come from you when we lose…
your rose colored glasses predciction is wrong than don;t say I did not warn you.
I know what it feels like… I had faith in the Braves til game 161 last year. Then I just had to hope, but I didnt see it happening.
booing is actually good for you as long as you don’t get too carried away. doesn’t mean you have to get personally nasty to a player.
September 1st, 201210:24 pm
Y’know, I honestly would not mind giving TP a chance at running the team. He definitely couldn’t do any worse than the milktoast we currently have.
Let TP manage? The same guy that was wanted fired after how we hit in 2010?
September 1st, 201210:25 pm
I boo my kids if they mess up….makes em tougher.
September 1st, 201210:26 pm
I would prefer Eddie to Terry, but I really don’t care all that much even about Fredi, really
doesn’t mean you have to get personally nasty to a player.
Unnamed poster to Uggla: Go to hell!
Can’t win if we can’t hit with RISP.
September 1st, 201210:27 pm
You know I’m just talking shyt nolie.
September 1st, 201210:29 pm
Hey, you must be new here. My name’s Jeff.
September 1st, 201210:30 pm
Let it go, onlybravesfan….
I agree on Eddie, but only to a certain extent. Eddie tends to play around and joke a lot. Terry seems to be more disciplined, and I think this team needs to get some discipline. Just my opinion however.
well shucks, even go to hell is not all THAT bad, what I mind is the constant repitition during a game, it is just non-stop and nasty and the same stupid boring stuff over and over, and I think much of it is just a few posters using multiple names trying to make everybody else as unhappy as they are. That gets old quick
September 1st, 201210:32 pm
well who really knows Jer, like I said I really have no horse in that race. and yeah, I know you are talking bologna
September 1st, 201210:35 pm
Funny jeffrey d. My thought process is real simple. Just because he sucked as a batting coach, doesn’t mean that will carry over to being manager. Like when I was on the fire department. I can’t tell you how many times I saw really good fire truck drivers get promoted to Lieutenant and stink to high heaven at the new job.
September 1st, 201210:36 pm
Michigan is no match for the Bama boys….
Like the Braves vs Nats….sigh
Since 2009, Braves are 39-42 in the month of September… add in the October games to end the reg. season in 2009-10, the Braves are 42-48. However, the only 2 years that the Braves have losing records for the last month of play, they were missing players (Prado and Chipper in 2010, Hanson and JJ last year)
2009: 17-10 in Sept, 17-14 Sept/Oct
2010: 13-14 in Sept, 14-16 Sept/Oct
2011: 9-18 in Sept.
It changes this year!
September 1st, 201210:37 pm
I don’t even think that Terry was a bad hitting coach at all, we ranked fairly high offensively most seasons while he was there
September 1st, 201210:38 pm
Funny, because we missed the playoffs in 2009 but barely made it in 2010
September 1st, 201210:40 pm
Guys, not to bring up such depressing and awful events again, and I’m sorry, but we lost out little boy one week ago. Things like this are traumatic and you quickly realize what’s really important in this world we’re living in.
Side stuff like your hobby’s and passions always have their places in your life and will in mine, too. We all need to express ourselves and have that distraction. I’d go crazy if I didn’t have an outlet of some kind like I do blogging here, watching the Braves, kickin back with family and friends, etc.
Somehow all that is not nearly important anymore.
Your leader has to pick the right pieces and then get those pieces to work together as a team.
Look at Joe Gibbs. 3 super bowl titles with the Redskins. 3 Nascar championships.
Totally different sports. Didn’t matter. That man knows how to lead and how to win.
we all have times when we feel pessimistic anyway
Being pessimistic is a way of life for me. Don’t get disappointed that way.
I did, I never got angry over that…
September 1st, 201210:43 pm
it is less painful being a regular pessimist. if things go bad you are already at least partially prepared for it, and if they go good, it is a special treat…..
September 1st, 201210:44 pm
I’ve also quickly learned the people I thought were cold, or not caring in my life are decent people. I think most people are good, they just let their problems or whatever prevent it from getting out. We all really do need each other, as corny as that sounds.
September 1st, 201210:46 pm
hey, don’t be calling me ‘decent’. I’m rough and tuff and mean as a snake
I am very sorry to hear that CTB & in the big picture yes, following sports is nothing compared to that personal trauma.
I wish both of you the best as you try your best to work on recovering on that loss.
I hope I did not say anything wrong on that cause I just cannot imagine that kind of loss. Peace be with you & your family.
it is less painful being a regular pessimist. if things go bad you are already at least partially prepared for it, and if they go good, it is a special treat…..nolie
You hit the nail on the head there.
September 1st, 201210:48 pm
Praying for Peace for you and your family CTB. I know that it’s gotta be tough right now.
DOWN ON THE FARM
Eliminated form the APPY League finals 2-1. Season concluded.
LEXINGTON counters with a vengence and a no-hit shutout of the Legion today. Ouch!
No need of posting up offensive numbers, they would just be offensive!
Hey, Dadgum….PAT SCOGGIN pitched well today. The only one of four hurlers who didn’t make one blogger hurl. Pitched an eighth inning of pristine relief
September 1st, 201210:50 pm
The Lance Armstrong thing really bugs me.
I guess there’s just nothing in sports in which you can put much faith. I try to be optimistic but why?
Let’s say GA wins another football title someday. Odds are it will be stripped eventually anyway due to who knows what violation. Look at Penn State. What an awful sports fan nightmare. And I do not mean to lessen what happened there. 15 seasons stricken from the books? Good grief. Why get so emotionally invested if that crap stands to happen? I’m rambling…..
September 1st, 201210:51 pm
Same here CTB, keeping you and yours in my thoughts.
