Baker is ok, especially for the price
If bAker can play SS, I wonder if that means that the braves are not expecting Simmons back in a few weeks
August 31st, 20128:24 pm
The Braves never hit when Minor pitches, MIke should be a .500 pitcher with better run support.
Minor is a guy you have to like cause of how he has improved after that rough time in May and June. If he could only lay off the HR ball he could be great.
Minor is dealing again. Really happy for the guy
I doubt Baker has played much if any SS
August 31st, 20128:25 pm
Seems like a smart move–re; Baker.
August 31st, 20128:27 pm
Baker has played 2B and all 4 corner spots.
Good average vs. lefties? That is pure music to my longears!
August 31st, 20128:28 pm
I do not know alot about Jeff Baker but seems like guy who can play al over the place and has put up servicable offensive numbers over his career.
You cannot be hurt picking up guys like that down the stretch. Wonder who the PTBNL is though?
sounds right Chris27

Baker gives more flexibility.
Can give Uggla a day off without having to move Prado. With Overbay coming can give Freeman a day off without moving Prado. Basically keeps Prado focused on LF/3B which can be a good thing.
I hope that Simmons can come back even it its around 9/15 or so.
Janish has been more valuable then we could have expected but come on, we need Andy’s all around game back. If not this yr, then maybe he is right for 2013, do not want to see him risk further damage, his future is too important for us.
Now we need runs.
August 31st, 20128:33 pm
Mc Cann cannot do the job in the second half of the season anymore.
He faded late last yr and has gone to sleep this August too.
Glasses again. Also seems like Mac is hurting with each swing
Baker appeared in 15 games for the Tigers this month after he was acquired from the Cubs. The veteran has played second base and all four corner positions this year, while posting a line of .254/.293/.408 in 181 total plate appearances. For his career, Baker boasts a strong batting line of .298/.346/.505 against left-handers.
Against lefties is a good thing
August 31st, 20128:34 pm
These guys do nothing but bat .000 when men are in scoring position.
Mc Cann has to go NOW. He cannot play late in the season anymore.
Maybe baker plays for Uggla a good bit
That was an ugly at bat
August 31st, 20128:35 pm
The Braves are pretty good at getting people on base, but they are terrible about getting one hit.
Lee in S GA
think the Braves need to really consider not picking up McCann’s option…hell he is starting to make me hurt looking at him play
womp womp, frustrating fo’ sure.
August 31st, 20128:36 pm
I think Uggla needs more than 1 day off.
Playing Baker won’t lose anything offensively compare to what Uggla is doing now.
Good try Chipper!
Great lineup there Fredi…..just keep running Uggla out there night after night and let him fan us right out of the playoffs…………..
I really hate Uggla
Enough of Uggla too. If the Braves do miss post season you can hang it on both Mc Shamm and Ugglya.
And another missed opporituity. Mc Cann and Uggla need to be benched for the rest of the yr — enough is enough.
wow this offense will make you pull your hair out
The name of the game for all Braves opponents is, get past the top 5 in our lineup and feast on the dregs at the end.
Drat. Way to go hard chipper
Chipper lowers the BOOM!!!
Chipper probably would have been safe had he slid.
“Quickly 0-2 to Dan Uggla,” Then panic takes over and a wiff, wiff….God it’s so old!
August 31st, 20128:37 pm
here comes Tim Conway rounding 3rd….he’s out. If that were McCann catching he would have ducked. And Uggla….absolutely worthless.
maybe Uggs will be the PTBNL
Dan Uggly strikes again!
What a surpise!
Uggla and Mc Cann should be suspended — for non performance.
Disqualify from future competition.
August 31st, 20128:38 pm
Zero for August, Brian McCann…Totally Worthless Dan Uggla…plus the speed of a 40 year old man = no runs. CHOKE CHOKE CHOKE Your 2012 Atlanta Braves, ladies and gentlemen.
That would be a break if DET would pick up the rest of the $$$$$$$$$$ Nolie.
I doubt it.
Here comes a homerun watch….
I’d be interested in knowing what Reed Johnson’s career stats are against Halliday………….since he has been here he’s hit righties about as good as lefties…..
There is no way he hits any worse than Uggla………….
August 31st, 20128:39 pm
Uggla and Mc Cann have to be replaced for 2013. Plain and simple.
August 31st, 20128:40 pm
Uggla and McCann should not even be in the darn lineup. Two walks and a single And the Braves cant score. This is a playoff team Wren you should of blown this team up last winter.Hell we should get shut out all three games. Still say maybe a wild card and one game season over. Watch Phils with this leadoff walk it should be a run.
August 31st, 20128:41 pm
After that roll…Their Catcher could be renamed….”Craps.”
I wish we could say that Uggla is struggling because of non-performance enhancing drugs.
Mac visits Minor out at the mound and says, “hey look kid, you better shut these boys down because me and Uggs and gonna do shyt for ya.”
looks like Minor is not getting his pitches as consistently low as the last few starts.
August 31st, 20128:42 pm
This team’s gonna have to fight through the demons of the past two years because despite what the players and the AJC think, the real problem is the inability to hit. Uggla and McCann will stay in the lineup because Fredi is going to play by the book and quite frankly, I don’t blame him. You can only blame injuries so many times.
FIRE FREDI GONZALEZ
August 31st, 20128:44 pm
Brian Mccann is hitting under .100 with no extra base hits in August. He should be on the bench or bunting.
August 31st, 20128:45 pm
Fredi needs to grow a pair and do something that sends a message to Uggla, pinch hit for him, sit him for more than one day, or whatever. If Uggla even gave the hint of trying to make an adjustment then I could see sending him out there, but he continues to try to pull everything out of the stadium.
It’s kind of hard to in when 4 out of 9 are pretty much automatic outs.
Just like D-Lowe, Fredi just keeps running out Uggla.
I guess we need a manage with brain cells.
August 31st, 20128:46 pm
Uggla ,Uggla, Uggla ,Uggla , Uggla, Uggla, Uggla, just go away and take McCann with you. Halladay has not cracked the 90mph mark tonite and he still makes Uggla and McCann easy outs. Fredo Puhleassee sit these ho hitting rally killers. Can Baker play 2nd base ,can the Braves acquire a another catcher that bats lefthanded. Put McCann out of his misery Fredo put his fat butt on the DL.
I wish that “player to be named later” was Uggla right freakin now.
ATTN: We have won games on the road trip without uggla and mccann in most of them… Please when Constanza gets here put him in left and prado at 2nd its about winning!!!! And if MaC is going to get an out atleast make a productive one!!!! cant win games if you cant move runners over!!!! Bull $$it bunt the fn ball get some runners my god i dont car who you are!!!!!!!!!!
Mike Minor has pitched well, but of course the Braves have scored him zero runs.
Strong work minor. 5 IP 1run on a solo HR. help him out braves
August 31st, 20128:47 pm
Yes Baker hoping the hell never see Ugga bat again.
Yes Baker hoping the hell never see Uggla bat again.
with Johnson and now Baker available, Fredi really should be shot if he starts Constanza even one game
August 31st, 20128:48 pm
Is it too early for the Braves to make “a Labor Day Experience,” out of this frame?
August 31st, 20128:49 pm
Minor said I got to do this myself
August 31st, 20128:50 pm
Hope Uggla was watching Minor ’s at bat ,learn something you useless tool!
So sad. Janish and Minor have 2 hits and Mac and Uggla have none. Just peachy.
As per usual our Pitcher leadst he hit-list
shouldn’t we be bunting?
August 31st, 20128:51 pm
Ryan Howard playing behind the runner. BUNT moron.
This is Fredi-Ball. Get 2 on and try to hit a 3 run homerun.
Where has Michael Bourn gone? He has been a near nonfactor offensively since late June.
August 31st, 20128:52 pm
What, Bourne struck out? No way that just happened.
Wonder why Bourn didn’t even at least attempt to bunt? A lot of good things could have happened, but that’s neither here no there.
Oh look. We’re winning
August 31st, 20128:53 pm
He’s the one always breaking the ice!
Thank you….thank you…..and thank you
That’s my guy.
If Fredi goes out on a limb and benches Uggla, the comment from management is hey…we are playing Uggla a lot of money you should have played him and then his job is in jepoardy. If he keeps sending him out there what can happen to him (Fredi)? How on earth can you blame him for sending out one of your highest paid players? Fredi is not stupid.
I hope that we see more of Baker at second base down the stretch.
I have really tried to defend Uggla but as for this yr, I cannot take it anymore.
The Braves best chances to win as it is now if for Uggla to be replaced cause come on, we are not going to see the good Dan Uggla again at least for this yr.
If he can be the Florida version of Dan Uggla in 2013 great, but I do not think we will see that player again. He is not good anymore, I do not care what his WAR is, he stinks right now as we get to September 1, 2012. We cannot win with him.
And I want to see more of Ross behind the place cause Mc Cann s done, forget about that option next yr, have to get a better player in there.
And finally a couple runs, thanks Marteen YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!
Prado did a Ric Flair whoooo..i like it
Thank you Martin !
And these idiots continue to mention Prado in trade talks?
Prado is the best player on this team.
August 31st, 20128:54 pm
Wow…gotta love how the “first ballot HOF’er” slowed down and almost stopped at home plate instead of sliding or lowering his shoulder and going in at full speed…way to leave it all on the field Chipper !
The whoosing sound you hear is Bourne flushing millions of dollars down the drain with these indifferent at bats he has been taking lately. He should consider himself lucky if any team makes him an offer over 10 million a year.
Uggla, McCann…observe Martin Prado…a player who works his butt off and plays with lots of heart. You 2 might learn something.
I like our old second baseman better than our new one! Homer baby! haha Prado your still better than Uggla IMO!!!! Ugg go play outfield if you want to stay on the team we need a real second baseman!
If I was Minor, I’d ask Uggla to sit somewhere else.
August 31st, 20128:55 pm
Where has Michael Bourn gone? He has been a near nonfactor offensively since late June.
Tomahawk — If another team wants to give him 6 yrs at 16 to 20 mil per than be my guest.
Now if we can sucker another team to take Uggla for a bag of beans than that will be luck upon luck.
August 31st, 20128:56 pm
I wish Jason Heyward could get a hold of a pitch against Halladay. This weak pops are disheartening.
does he have the dreaded Tommy Hanson velocity disease?
August 31st, 20128:57 pm
RaleighDawg…he’s too busy counting all those championships he helped the Braves win.
Prado to 2nd and Uggla to the pine for the season…………but no Fredi has a love affair with “Danny”
August 31st, 20128:58 pm
(Oh look. More runs)
August 31st, 20128:59 pm
August 31st, 20129:00 pm
Bourn lost his touch last year when we needed it most!!! He needs to step it up!!! Atta boy Freeman!
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
