While Going Through some old Boxes:
I stumbled upon a old AJC Sports Section of the Braves Game Final report, that dated July 25 1999
The Headline Reads: Bullpen Falters in Smoltz’s return
Had no Idea That Carroll Rogers has covered The Braves that long???
Nuff Respect to Carroll Rogers
August 31st, 20127:21 pm
Puff, puff. O.K. I did 20 sets of one BRAVA. Ain’t what I used to be. Heh! But at 69+ I guess I have to accept that fact.

Delgado is King a lot of guys, but he is walking a man every other inning too
MRSA is an acronymn for Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)…..which is basically a serious Staph infection that is resistant to almost all antibiotics…..Vancomycin is one of only a small few drugs that can fight it……
Check out this Wikiipedia article and get prepared for the most intensive germ fighting battle at your home as you guys battle it…My sister-in-law had it two years ago after some female surgery and even today stil has some occasional eruptions of it….
Yes nasty is an accurate description………nastier than you can imagine…..
Nats leading 2-0…
August 31st, 20127:23 pm
Hey, I snatched the 100th spot in post frequency.
Braveone, who was 101st?
Carroll starting covering the Bravos right outta the womb……
August 31st, 20127:24 pm
She and I have both known that we had high readings for the past fifteen years. This appears to be the first manifestation of real health problems however. She’s 70. She took prednisone for over 30 days which set her off I believe.
Is there a way to determine blog poster’s WAR?
Just Found another Sports Page that Carroll Rogers did on July 18 1999…It Highlights
“Yanks Grease Perez Skid”
She covered a 21 year old Odalis Perez in 1999 as he started off 0-3
“Delgado is King a lot of guys, but he is walking a man every other inning too ”
It isn’t sad nolie, it’s just a young’un learning. Mister Critical! Geez, another year older, still not a bit wiser.
August 31st, 20127:26 pm
Thax. Not what I want to hear though.
high sugar is a killer rich, gotta be careful with it. Doctor never treated you for it?
Tomahawkin (Suffering Fan)
Oh, the memories of Odalis Perez in a Braves uniform. No fun at all, but at least that 1999 team won 103 games.
August 31st, 20127:29 pm
Anyone know why Sunday’s game is a 5pm EST start?
August 31st, 2012
George is entiled to his opinion. If you don’t agree with it fine. That does not make him an idiot or a moron. He is a reason this blog is good because he doesn’t just ditto everything the group says.
Thank you ACE. I try to keep it interesting without attacking other bloggers.
NEGTTFTOO, nolie. Too many letters.
Delgado is King a lot of guys, but he is walking a man every other inning too
Tommy’s pretty close… since May 1, he has 49 walks in 111 IP a 3.97 BB/9 while being hit at a .283/.359/.477/.836 clip… 4.84 ERA. 98 K’s in that time frame
Their PAR you mean? (Post Above Replacement)…. well to do so, I’d need Shaun’s help… I’d need to find out what consitutes a replacement level blogger…..
August 31st, 20127:30 pm
CB Wilkins @cbwilkinstweets
@GwinnettBraves C JC Boscan, OF Jose Constanza, and RHP Peter Moylan will join the Atlanta #Braves tomorrow.
Moylan and Constanza the MVP will be back… Hope Moylan is good to go, heard from some friends that he didn’t look very impressing.
August 31st, 20127:31 pm
a replacement level blogger…..TOBF
use Tomahawkin, he can easily be replaced……
August 31st, 20127:32 pm
I wasn’t talking about Uggla and McCann, TOBF, just the team in general. There have been a few plays this season that meretited a benching, but Fredi doesn’t seem to find that appropriate. Although I must say, Uggla should have been benched after that play where he just held the ball while the winning run scored.
August 31st, 20127:33 pm
Uggla should have been benched after that play where he just held the ball while the winning run scored.
he was benched for the rest of that game….
August 31st, 20127:34 pm
richbrave: Prayers going up for your wife and you.
I hear you, rich. I’ve also slowed down a lot with age.
August 31st, 20127:35 pm
With MRSA the hygeine is so important to prevent it from spreading. It is often contracted in institutions like hospitals and nursing homes, and can be really dangerous as it is super agressive. the lengths my brother and sister-in-law had to go through were unbelievable……….there are two versions…one is “hospital acquired” -or CA MRSA and the other is “community acquired” MRSA…..
Now however the two have almost merged into the same mutation and both versions are found both in and out of hospitals……
Very, very dangerous………..
August 31st, 20127:36 pm
Big difference between not running out a pop up at all and making a dumb or bad play…
The Braves have started their swoon a little early this year, and going up against the Phillies big three won’t exactly be kind to us. With McCann and Uggla dying their big death this year, it’s not gonna be pretty. Lets see what happens.
August 31st, 20127:37 pm
“Thank you for the blog, Carroll.
Unbelievable that some around here are ragging on DOB about how much, and how hard, he works. Some of you need to get a life if you have nothing better to do.”
Co-Sign and yeah Just Like some of the other smart ass ones on here who like to do nothing but belittle others just because a difference of opinion
Yeah Astral Thats you….
it is beatable Truth, I’ve had it twice, don’t scare rich to death
August 31st, 20127:38 pm
oh poor old Tommyhawkin got his feelingsies hurt
August 31st, 20127:39 pm
Rollins must never learn. It seems like he gets benched by Manual every season for lack of hustle.
August 31st, 20127:40 pm
Great start., Mike!
hospital acquired is “HA MRSA” and community acquired or “CA MRSA”
and prayers are a good thing….without them my sister-in-law would not be here today….I’m 66 now so understand the slowing down.
Also as we get older many times our resistance is reduced as well….why some of those flu strains can be so dangerous to the “elderly”…..add diabetes and things get more complicated.
Will shoot some prayers up also………..
August 31st, 20127:41 pm
now is that any way to talk Tommyhawkin? Nothing wrong with calling a fool a fool, man up thar
August 31st, 20127:42 pm
Yeah, I’ve noticed that “astral” person isn’t very nice. We haven’t had a run-in yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens. Strange thing is, from some of the comments, it appears to be someone who’s been around a while, so I wonder who it really is.
August 31st, 20127:43 pm
My Prayers for you and your wife.
Good start by Minor.
Good way to start it!
Braves win tonight…. I’ll be around folks… Uggla, BMac, and Heyward have big nights tonight, I think Uggs and Heyward go deep. Minor goes 7 innings, get the W.
See y’all later. Peace
August 31st, 20127:45 pm
high sugar also compromises your immune system
August 31st, 20127:46 pm
Good Lord! What a honey in the blue! Wow!
August 31st, 20127:48 pm
August 31st, 20127:49 pm
“now is that any way to talk Tommyhawkin? Nothing wrong with calling a fool a fool, man up thar”
Oh I Heard That ####! Say It Again! SAY IT AGAIN!
Why Is It That everytime I Come on here, You just Insist on Pushing your Limits with Me?
(you are getting use to this, right Minor?)
maybe those runners left on won’t come back to hurt them …..
That worked out poorly.
August 31st, 20127:50 pm
not sure why, but there it is again just like you wanted
“now is that any way to talk Tommyhawkin? Nothing wrong with calling a fool a fool, man up thar
nolie…..don’t mean to scare richbrave….but you have to be aware of how bad it CAN be to be proactive and treat it seriously.
My brother works for Microsoft and has unlimited benefit insurance with no copays…the kind Obama hates…..at one time they had 5 bags of vancomycin in their refrigerator at $2500 per bag. She had a bad, bad time and is still very alert for signs…..
Hers was compicated by being embedded in a surgical wound and it grew wildly from there.
My sister is a RN Hospital Administrator and so we are aware of the seriousness of these infectious diseases…………..hygiene is madantory…..
Don’t know how old you are nolie but some of us older folks are more vulnerable then we once were….
nolie…..having it twice most often means that it was never totally removed or cured, but was lurking in your system, hiding if you will….that is one of the insidious things about it
Lil' Barry Bailout
Typical stand-pat offense. Two on, no out turns into zip.
August 31st, 20127:51 pm
T, use your ignore button. Don’t get baited and risk being bozoed again. Not worth it.
who the devil swore that Howard was done??
There’s Minor’s hang-dog look…trouble brewing.
Lucky or Good
August 31st, 20127:52 pm
There are teams that are good enough to get there or close to there by luck. There are other teams who when given the opportunity grab opportunity by the throat and control their own destiny.
That is not the Braves. They are victims waiting to happen. The Braves are good enough to be close at the end, but they are not tough enough to grab and control their own destiny.
So the Braves squander a first inning opportunity by two of their “stars” and then take the lead in the top of the second.
Braves could actually get swept this weekend and that isn’t a joke.
Great display of September from the Braves in that bottom of the first. May not get another chance. nd whaddaya know, there goes Howard. And it starts.
Of course that just happened. Squander a good opportunity to score in the first inning and then allow a homerun on the first pitch in the top 2nd.
August 31st, 20127:54 pm
“and then take the lead in the top of the second.”
meant to say that the Phils take the lead in the top of the second
here we go………….run ourselves out of an inning and get nothing….then lickety and we’re down one already………
Whoever thinks that Philly will lay down is dreaming…………
Hard to trust them Braves anymore.
Forget catching Nats were going to have a fight for wildcard. Nats will sweep Cards and the way were playing we might get beat by Phils . Ball four to Chipper and inning over now Howard HR.God Minor Maholm and Hanson sure have a good HR pitch.
August 31st, 20127:55 pm
Mentally, Minor is finished for the evening.
Outta here for the game. 4-8 last 12, We need to turn that around with a lot of wins.
Chumper Jones: 2 on, one out. 3-2 pitch. Chumper strikes out, on a ball in the dirt; Bourn, strike ‘em out, throw ‘em out. WAY TO SEND A MESSAGE, HOFer! The Chumper Choke at bat. The start of the Phillies sweep in Atlanta. The 2012 collapse is on! Fredi G.is still in Atlanta.
August 31st, 20127:56 pm
turned 67 yesterday, truth.
Chipper has cooled off, ain’t he?
NO MORE FREDI
August 31st, 20127:57 pm
Pretend this is a playoff game. You have runners on first and second with no one out.
BUNT THE RUNNERS OVER!!!!!
Set up Chipper for at least a sac fly. Fredi is an idiot and will kill this team AGAIN.
IT’S ONLY THE BOTTOM OF THE 2ND!!
August 31st, 20127:58 pm
NO MORE FREDI, you want to have your three hole hitter bunt in the first inning? Really?
August 31st, 20128:00 pm
Jeff, Hanson is still a talent out there. His loopy pitches could be knockouts way more if he’d control the fastball. He doesn’t even need to throw it 94 anymore.
ChattTownBrian, I’m concerned about his health, this season ans last.
Mendoza line, here we come. Way too many Braves “hitters” can say that.
Dan got mad there
August 31st, 20128:01 pm
McCann and Uggla = 3 pitches and 2 outs.
If Uggla wasn’t so pull happy, his hips would have allowed him to drive that ball. Mr. Pull Man.
August 31st, 20128:02 pm
“IT’S ONLY THE BOTTOM OF THE 2ND!!”
I’ve seen some of their games this year decided earlier than that
McFann =Ô= =Ô= =ô=
WHAT THE CRAP??? WHY IS BMAC WEARING SPECS?????
August 31st, 20128:03 pm
looked like his hips were fine, he got it on the end of the bat
August 31st, 20128:04 pm
As Tomahawkin would say – The Phillies can taste this series! They’re lusting for a sweep! BANK ON THAT!
Same old thing so far; get ‘em on base and leave them there. And of course Minor gives up his 824th HR of the season.
August 31st, 20128:06 pm
They traveled from California to see the Braves, people 10 minutes from TF won’t even go.
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
August 31st, 20128:08 pm
Obviously no one else knows anything about it, either…
See y’all in about an hour…
August 31st, 20128:09 pm
T, that was cool story about finding those old articles written by Carroll in the 90s.
Tower of Power Howard…..1 jack too many; please do not give him a belt high fastball [ever] unless we want to watch it sail out of the Ted.
August 31st, 20128:10 pm
lucky out there, pitchwas nowhere near the glove
Our boys cannot hit tonight — looks like a September of offensive futility.
They deserve to be Booed.
Hi and bye to @McFann!
August 31st, 20128:12 pm
We lead the universe in missed opportunities.
What good is getting guys on base if U cannot score.
@Disgusted….”Our boys cannot hit tonight.”
Can you recall our last ‘big’ offensive rush!!!
August 31st, 20128:13 pm
Home Run Minor — giving up the HRs is the one thing that will keep him from being a real good pitcher.
He gives up one more and he deserves to be Booed.
August 31st, 20128:14 pm
Happy [belated] Birthday to Mr. Nolieee!
the jerseys look really orange on the hitting replays??
August 31st, 20128:15 pm
The last big offensive rush was a few games ago — offense is inconsistent — they have hitters and go through good spells but when it has counted as of lte they come up short.
They deserve to be Booed!!!!! Very BUMB!!!!! Real Very BUMB!!!!!!
Two quick out — frustrating and BUMB.
August 31st, 20128:16 pm
thank you Capt
August 31st, 20128:17 pm
The Braves are playing real bad baseall right now & the repeat of September of 2011 is sadly on.
Note that Philly won’t be as bad next yr they will be back. Cannot say we will. We might but it takes a few $$$$$$$ to keep a team in the W column.
We are losing and this is disgraceful.
August 31st, 20128:19 pm
Jon Morosi @jonmorosi
#Tigers trade Jeff Baker to #Braves for PTBNL on or before Sept. 30
I like Jeff Baker. Wanted him from the Cubs.
August 31st, 20128:20 pm
#Braves just acquired IF Jeff Baker from Detroit for a PTBNL or cash considerations. Former Clemson Tiger.
August 31st, 20128:21 pm
Happy B’day…..actually I won’t be 66 till next week, the 7th…..
You guys make me feel better…..I’m usually the oldest one around in my circles……..got to hang here more often……..
Just got back to the TV and see that the braves are giving minor his usual run support
Anyone else having trouble with the braves.scout forum?
Fredi running Uggla out there every night is akin to Bobby running Jeff out there every night.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
