Yeah, gee! Now what—do we have 3 whole losses when leading after 6 to go with our 60-some-odd wins?

Pathetic. Why are they even gonna play out the season?…

Hey Sid – while you’re writing CJ off to retirement, send McCann and Uggla packing too. Let’s free up some salary space and go shopping for a few great players. Just for fun, bring Gattis up for a sip of coffee for September and sit McCann for about a month. Gattis and Ross can split the catching duties, can’t be any worse than McCann up there.

Plenty of applause in Nats clubhouse when Mayberry homered to put Braves behind in 10th.

Let’s go Janish… get on base kid.

September

August 31st, 2012
10:51 pm

Chipper gets thrown out at the plate loafing from second base. One run.

Janish stays at third instead of scoring on what should have been a wild pitch. Two runs.

Kimbrel throws a slider strike one to a guy looking for a fastball. Makes him look sick.

Kimbrel throws a slider strike two to a guy looking for a fastball. Makes him look sick.

Kimbrel throws a fastball 0-2 to a guy looking fastball all the way when he looked sick on the slider and BOOM! Ballgame!

Braves aren’t good enough or smart enough to play lax baseball and expect to win.

Their slack play cost them the game tonight.

Braves are LOSERS. Janish should of tried to score on that wild pitch because there wasnt a Brave going to get a hit with runners in scoring position. When they fire Freddi kick Snitkers ass to the worthless bum. Phils sweep Braves as Nats sweep Cards. Again will never have family go to game with Freddi . Dodgers and Cards win wildcard as Wren blows up Braves this winter. Nice going Joe Braves will not pick up ground on Nats you ass they are going to beat us by 10 games or more as we cant beat teams under 500 in Sept. Are bench is one of the worst in baseball but these stupid managers have to go righty against a lefty and a lefty against a righty crap. FIRE freddi you watch LEE and Hamels will kick are asses

I do remember a time when a guy like Gonzalez might have been appreciated strictly on his managerial record.

But I do not remember a time when a manager 30 games ABOVE .500 over 1.5 appears to be so overmatched. Braves really do need a change to let these talented guys breathe. Gonzalez is not the guy.

Points on the closer:

Without Kimbrel’s performance this year… the Braves aren’t leading the Wild Card. But…. he has YET to prove he can close out big, clutch games down the stretch. And with their recent struggles and the Phillies rotation set up the way it is this weekend, don’t tell me this game wasn’t one of those. Let’s hope that changes… immediately.

He’s only pitched 48 innings this year. Once or twice this season you have to throw out “the book” and put him back in for a second inning, and this was one of those times. I know it’s a long season, but Gonzalez far too often doesn’t put his team in the best position to win. This was another one of those games.

Jaded

August 31st, 2012

These guys are a bunch of choking dogs.

Four wins in the last 13 years, starting at around the same time they folded last year. Losing three out of four to non-contending teams, just like they did so often last September.

This is the same team that lost its final six games at home in 2009 with a playoff spot on the line. This is the same team that held a 3 game lead in the division on September 1, 2010 and ended up finishing six games out before losing in the first round of the playoffs in appalling fashion. This is the same team that authored the worst collapse in NL history in 2011.

I shudder to think about how 2012 is going to end. Chokers don’t change their stripes.
