and the walks come back to hurt but then again, they usually do
August 29th, 20129:11 pm
never will happen but fire Fredi??
So many were saying that the Braves had an advantage playing mostly sub .500 teams the rest of the way. As I said some time ago–that thinking is pure mythology, especially when you are talking about these Braves. Last year they struggled down the stretch against any team, even those that were sub .500. The teams that are out of it, with nothing to lose, play loose. Our Braves tighten up, especially at the plate. Now here the Braves are, struggling against the Padres. One run scored through 8. One lousy run. By comparison, the Padres in this series have looked like the better team. All three of their pitchers have looked like world beaters against the Braves offense.
August 29th, 20129:12 pm
the braves managed two earned runs the entire series. they should feel fortunate not to of been swept.
Alright, Venters! Seriously , though. He needs to get out of ATL before that staff completely ruins a promising career.
August 29th, 20129:13 pm
What a piece of crap…this game and series; lose 2 of 3 from SD in perfect weather conditions and with a dive in the performance of D.C. whereby substantial ground could have been made…wow; incompetently disappointing to me. In fact, as I believe you all are aware–if Mr. Meds had not been his brilliant self–well…we’d be looking at straw–so dang sad, the 2012 Braves; an implausible bunch.
i know chipper will blame hanson and the pitching….but three runs the whole series? i mean come on…. that’s just pathetic
let’s be fair, he really didn’t abuse the bullpen last season. the offense won games 3-2, 4-3 seemingly every other game. kimbrel and venters don’t pitch as much as they did, no way they come close to 1 game from the playoffs. this season for good and bad, blowout games like this have been far more the norm than last season
Marlins have 2 on, no outs, down 2
This is the worst game I rememeber this year. I’m done for tonight.
Say those prayers!
I need to extra bad tonight after some of the thoughts I had watching this game.
Take care all

August 29th, 20129:14 pm
Venters has been banged around all year so yes, why bring the guy in with runners on?
Ridiculous doing that with a known entity this yr…..oh well.
August 29th, 20129:15 pm
would have been a good time for the braves to make a move with the nats falling like they were
bring on the new improved big bad phillies. braves will play better baseball this weekend
August 29th, 20129:16 pm
Flat out embarrassing to get out scored by the Padres 11-3(so far) in this series
Braves will get swept this weekend – just like old times
August 29th, 20129:17 pm
well i don’t know about any of you guys but I think they can still score 7+ in the 9th!
*Marlins within 1 now
Get Venters the hell out of there so the game can end, sheesh. It’ll be 200-1 before he’s done.
Anyone still watching the Nats is watching the wrong team.
This game is terrible.
August 29th, 20129:18 pm
Lastly, I have a trade proposal for someone.
Hanson, JJ, Venters, Uggla, Hinski, Diaz and throw in Freddi G for the icing on the cake for a decent lefty reliever.
keep getting into that National bullpen. only way to pass them is if they contnue to be overused and run out of gas next month
The phillies are certainly due against us….
“*Marlins within 1 now”
August 29th, 20129:19 pm
two more lefties this weekend
September 2011 is rearing its ugliness again.
pizz off MVPprado
August 29th, 20129:20 pm
The game isn’t over yet! Braves can still win 9-8. If you don’t get behind the Braves, you’re not a true fan!!!
Pass them? We better worry about ourselves.
Let Hinski pitch he cant field or play defense might be a hidden gem. Three more outs and then we can watch Braves Dead.
August 29th, 20129:21 pm
“keep getting into that National bullpen. only way to pass them is if they contnue to be overused and run out of gas next month”
the Braves are NOT passing the Nats, plain and simple. I would say that the Phillies have a better chance than the Braves.
Mr positive = mental midget
August 29th, 20129:22 pm
braves coming home with day off tomorrow. you guys are nuts if you don’t believe they will play better.
bad series, move on
“pizz off MVPprado”
can’t handle the truth? That’s not my problem.
vitriol spewer (phil)
You sir, are not a true fan.
August 29th, 20129:23 pm
Good job, David!
Meaningless homer #1….
Boy, the offense did all they could today.
And a timely home run by David Ross.
The never absent meaninless…
Come on, 7 more…
Lil' Barry Bailout
August 29th, 20129:24 pm
Heckuva job by the Braves stand-pat offense during this Padres series. Three games, three runs (not counting today’s garbage-time run, down 7-1).
Mr positive, you, sir, are a moron…
Surely Uggla has a “worthless” HR in him.
August 29th, 20129:25 pm
Just Terrible. no excuse for this nonsense.. lost series to LA, Washington, split in SF and now get smacked around by SD.. in 3 games u score 3 runs.. thats JUST PITIFUL.. im sorry but this is the same show this team showed last year on thier way to a monumental collapse.. I mean seriously. this lineup has too many holes.. Janish cant hit worth a lick uggla and born strike out kings. Tommy Hanson just stinks right now..this team needs to wake up and get with it or enjoy another collapse again. And heres something.. U bring up Mejia in september along with Durango and costanza. Dont call up varvaro and Boscan who cant hit worth nothing. Give Yepez a chance.. seriously just a sad pathetic and a joke statement put up by this team on this road trip…
Hey Fredi—how’s your shrubs doing? Hope your Azaleas have nice showy flowers now that Spring is here. And, oh yes, your team–The Braves; are they ready to go? Great, hope by late, late summer you all will be blooming as well–or at the least, the team will have shown it’s true color(s). Lots of luck there Fredi–a have good one.
Surely Hinske has a “worthless” HR in him.
August 29th, 20129:26 pm
i can handle the truth, just your overall knowledge and understanding of playing a 162 game schedule is limited.
sure if you were a dodger fan, you threw in the towel losing 2 of 3 to the lowly rockies.
your just not a very astute baseball fan
Surely Juan has a “worthless” HR in him.
Too many Braves “hitters” are struggling to stay above 0.200
Just pathetic and stupid to think this bunch was going to be any different this year than last.
This team is built on the worthless HR.
August 29th, 20129:27 pm
What a miserable road trip, plus Francisco is an automatic K when he enters as a pinch hitter.
Ho hum, Fredi’s dumb.
Nice touch for the ending.
Uggla is the king of meaningless HR’s.
August 29th, 20129:28 pm
20 game stretch ends with the Braves going 10-10 and winning 2 series out of 6
Football is here!
That is exactly what I am talking about, it takes the Braves 7-8 games to gain just 1 game on the Nats, and it only take 1 game to give it right back to them. Exactly why this team will not win the East. Very happy to see Hanson get the loss, it was WELL DESERVING.
Hanson needs a swift kick in the rear end out of the rotation.
August 29th, 20129:29 pm
Not last night, Lakedawg….
August 29th, 20129:30 pm
Keep your heads up Braves fans. The Braves still have the possibilty of winning 105 games!
Dodgers aren’t the team choking away another postseason opportunity for the second year in a row. The Braves are. And anyone who has followed the game and this team long enough can see the writing on the wall. So don’t question my astuteness. Start thinking more with your head and les with your heart and you will see this team for what it really is.
disappointing road trip, miserable not buying. lose first 2 in SF could have been a disaster. turn it around so go back home and play better baseball. braves team is a good team, certainly not a great team. still delirious if you think last year collapse scenario is around the corner. lucky for most, football starts tomorrow.
August 29th, 20129:31 pm
old friend Mike Dunn sets up the Nats with an insurance run
August 29th, 20129:32 pm
nope mvprado, it’s painfully obvious you don’t have a good grasp of the game. hey football starts tomorrow, more your
August 29th, 20129:33 pm
Coach from Friday Night Lights needs to make a locker room speech and ask them if they want it.
August 29th, 20129:35 pm
bad series ? what thats thier 4th straight BAD series..Lost to LA, WAS, a split in SF and series loss in SD.. thier 5-8 in thier last 13 without a series win.. thats not good…. this team needs to get with it..
braves behind nationals as best road team and you rats are jumping off the ship. too funny, LACK of baseball understanding pure and simple
guess we won’t know until the season is over and the Braves are home watching the playoffs. We’ll talk then.
MVPprado, your 9:21 is absolutely insane.
August 29th, 20129:36 pm
No heart. No fight. Just a bunch of prancing pretenders. Starting Hanson was dumb, but with this puny, flaccid, punchless offense, it didn’t matter who started. Are we done now with this idiotic 6 man rotation? Will they finally demote Hanson and Uggla? You never know with the constant state of indecision by current Braves management. Fredi/Wren move with the quickness of concrete. We could be stuck with the agony of watching them (Uggla and Hanson) through Sept.
August 29th, 20129:38 pm
didn’t look at standings yet after the game. did anybody? are we what 4 back in wild card, 5?
August 29th, 20129:39 pm
Do the Braves make the playoffs?
August 29th, 20129:40 pm
Who cares? Football season is here.
marlins again in business. 2nd and 3rd, no outs
August 29th, 20129:41 pm
Um, toast, we still LEAD the wildcard…however, at the moment, the Braves are 4 1/2 back of the Nats.
August 29th, 20129:42 pm
Maybe a day off will help, it sure can’t hurt.
Some of you posters, that is.
-There are people on this blog with varied degrees of ’shrewdness.’ And ‘knowledge of a 162 game season’–and how it works–may or may not be important respectively. Who the most astutely positioned person to comment cohesively and, regularly, herein is worth something like a 50 cent piece of bubble gum.
August 29th, 20129:43 pm
c’mon jeff think before you speak bro! before the dodger series the braves beat the hell out of sub .500 teams for 3 weeks! Nationals went crazy too, can’t help that. now september is loaded with sub .500 teams . dunno not a bad position to go into next month already a playoff team. panic makes people ugly here boy
August 29th, 20129:44 pm
Fredi whinning about the expansion of rosters saying teams should have to declare x amount of players available for that day?? He should have said even with the extra players I still don’t know how to manage them.
4 teams within 2 for the wild card. LA, StL, Pit and Atl. 31 games left.
August 29th, 20129:45 pm
Only Fredi would whine about the September call ups. He said it makes September a different game than the other five months.
August 29th, 20129:46 pm
thanks for pointing that out navy, never said they win the division. get in someway although obviously winning the division would be ideal. we will see
August 29th, 20129:47 pm
@count, Have to hope the pirates will fade and at least make it a three team race for two spots.
August 29th, 20129:48 pm
Keep running them out there, believe the back of the bubble gum card. For how long?
August 29th, 20129:49 pm
braves-cards have edge in wc. got to hope the dodgers and giants beat the hell out of each other. dodgers are scary on paper although that doesn’t always tell the whole story.
just can’t see the pirates holding up next month but they are resilient
August 29th, 20129:50 pm
DOB should have some words of wisdom and some fun tweets from the happy clubhouse.
August 29th, 20129:51 pm
storen pitched out of the mess, Marlins couldn’t score
August 29th, 20129:52 pm
I find myself more disappointed these days after wins like last night than losses like the one this afternoon/evening and Monday night.
It used to be we would occasionally win when we got average pitching or even below average pitching.
Now the only occasions in which the offense is of any use is when Tim Hudson, Mike Minor or Kris Medlen throw shut-outs.
It becomes increasingly painful to watch Paul Maholm, to cite one recent example, give up a second inning home run and know with absolute certainly that the game might as well be called.
It’s happening again, folks.
I’ll take a win any which way they come. Frankly, if not for a couple of early Padre defensive misplays last night we might not have even won that game.
It’s going to take masterful pitching to get to a one game playoff. Forget about the f*ing division.
Way too many blown chances over the past ten days to still be as far as four game back or to have any hope of beating the Nationals.
You’d think a team would be excited by the chance to make the playoffs.
Once again, the Braves just seem scared.
August 29th, 20129:55 pm
if the Braves continue to stumble, I wonder how long of a leash Wren gives Fredi G.
I still would like to see how Pendleton would do as interim manager.
Could have left with a crummy 5-5 road trip….but this group is a bit goofed up in the head IMO. The day off tomorrow and their plans should allow at least an hour or two of analyzing their personal professional goals for the remainder of this season. Within the team dynamic–each participant, coach and Fredi must gather some strength from within and vow to increase their respective mental and physical commitments to the great game. 162 my @ss? You go out and make contact with that damn baseball and act like you’re happy to be involved–and, get rif of this non-chalantness…you can and possess the acumen to refrain from embassassing many devoted fans of this great franchise.
The Braves have been scared since 1996.
August 29th, 20129:57 pm
You’re absolutely correct. Its not talent, its psychological. History tells us it will not be overcome.
The Rome braves are trying to lose their playoff bid too.
August 29th, 20129:58 pm
becomes increasingly painful to watch Paul Maholm, to cite one recent example, give up a second inning home run and know with absolute certainly that the game might as well be called.
that tough huh? life’s too short my man, don’t torture yourself would be my advice. if this is too painful, get away from it. go to the hospital and volunteer or something, it will give you a more focused and appreciation of what’s important in life on a day to day baseball.
actually just STFU and grow up, act is a tiring one
Good nite, panic-ridden masses…
Can’t say I feel great either, but tomorrow is…..an off day?
….friday is another day.
August 29th, 20129:59 pm
@Captain, second that comotion
August 29th, 201210:02 pm
Fredi can see last September in the rearview mirror.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
