So many were saying that the Braves had an advantage playing mostly sub .500 teams the rest of the way. As I said some time ago–that thinking is pure mythology, especially when you are talking about these Braves. Last year they struggled down the stretch against any team, even those that were sub .500. The teams that are out of it, with nothing to lose, play loose. Our Braves tighten up, especially at the plate. Now here the Braves are, struggling against the Padres. One run scored through 8. One lousy run. By comparison, the Padres in this series have looked like the better team. All three of their pitchers have looked like world beaters against the Braves offense.

What a piece of crap…this game and series; lose 2 of 3 from SD in perfect weather conditions and with a dive in the performance of D.C. whereby substantial ground could have been made…wow; incompetently disappointing to me. In fact, as I believe you all are aware–if Mr. Meds had not been his brilliant self–well…we’d be looking at straw–so dang sad, the 2012 Braves; an implausible bunch.

let’s be fair, he really didn’t abuse the bullpen last season. the offense won games 3-2, 4-3 seemingly every other game. kimbrel and venters don’t pitch as much as they did, no way they come close to 1 game from the playoffs. this season for good and bad, blowout games like this have been far more the norm than last season

I mean seriously. this lineup has too many holes.. Janish cant hit worth a lick uggla and born strike out kings. Tommy Hanson just stinks right now..this team needs to wake up and get with it or enjoy another collapse again. And heres something.. U bring up Mejia in september along with Durango and costanza. I find myself more disappointed these days after wins like last night than losses like the one this afternoon/evening and Monday night.

It used to be we would occasionally win when we got average pitching or even below average pitching.

Now the only occasions in which the offense is of any use is when Tim Hudson, Mike Minor or Kris Medlen throw shut-outs.

It becomes increasingly painful to watch Paul Maholm, to cite one recent example, give up a second inning home run and know with absolute certainly that the game might as well be called.

It’s happening again, folks.

I’ll take a win any which way they come. Frankly, if not for a couple of early Padre defensive misplays last night we might not have even won that game.

It’s going to take masterful pitching to get to a one game playoff. Forget about the f*ing division.

Way too many blown chances over the past ten days to still be as far as four game back or to have any hope of beating the Nationals.

You’d think a team would be excited by the chance to make the playoffs.

Once again, the Braves just seem scared.

Could have left with a crummy 5-5 road trip….but this group is a bit goofed up in the head IMO. The day off tomorrow and their plans should allow at least an hour or two of analyzing their personal professional goals for the remainder of this season. Within the team dynamic–each participant, coach and Fredi must gather some strength from within and vow to increase their respective mental and physical commitments to the great game. 162 my @ss? You go out and make contact with that damn baseball and act like you’re happy to be involved–and, get rif of this non-chalantness…you can and possess the acumen to refrain from embassassing many devoted fans of this great franchise.
