You’d think Braves would be getting better at the LHP since they face them so much though. Guess not.

Apparently they are getting more and more exposed instead of making the proper adjustments. And a lefties heavy lineup doesn’t help their case either.

Medlen Is great but not this team on the field tonight. I think we are in for a long night. Hope the Braves can at least get a few hits! Sorry for the pessimist attitude but the Braves have not been spanking the ball around against anyone as of late. Hope the prove me wrong.

Good luck Hanson your going to need it today as are offense cant hit leftys or anybody below 90 MPH. Not going to be easy against Phils with Lee and Doc.

Agreed it’s a good idea to require people to register – was too lazy to think of a different name though when I was waiting for my plane in SD. I do like counts kit_kat ..hah, very clever. No biggy, we’ll all figure it out. Now on to the game.. might pay $5 on the plane to watch it on mlb.tv. Curious to see if mlb.tv can handle plane wifi– they barely can handle providing a good product to my home wifi :)

Hanson is just painful to watch. He has lost 6 mph on his fastball since he came up and throws his 89er as straight as an arrow. I wish we could trade him to an AL team. I don’t ever want to see him pitch again.

Lookie Lookie

For those fans new to baseball, let this game be an example of the difference between an effective pitcher and a pitcher who is struggling somewhat.

Medlen shows how it’s done. He has a number of pitches, but everything is working off his fastball. He can throw it for a strike whenever he wants to. He stikes guys out with it @ 90. His fastball sets up his other pitches.

Now look at Hanson. He can’t throw a fastball for a strike, therefore he has to pray the opposition doesn’t tee off on his breaking ball when he hangs a few (and yes he will hang a few)

If Hanson could get back to basics and learn to throw a fastball for a strike, then perhaps he would become more effective…… at least until his arm falls off from that dart throwing motion.

I was a big fan of Tommy when he first came up but like many have already said it’s really hard to watch him pitch now. You can get away with throwing a ball down the middle at times, when you’re throwing 93-95 but not when you’re topping out at 90 and it’s it’s straight. Still not ready to give up on him though. He has a lot of work to do this off-season. Definitely needs to get in better shape.

So the Braves hitters were obviously having trouble with the sunlight transition between the plate and the mound this time of day. So what does Hanson do? He throws 4 straight balls to start the inning and put the lead off hitter on.

I’m not sure I understand how anyone can have patience with that approach on the mound.
