I’m not sure what people expect on the registering. There’s no prohibition from registering 1000 different blog monikers. Unless they search the database to block by (probably fake) email address, the same crazies can keep on keepin’ on.

What registration will do is keep folks from posting in the guise of other folks, since the system will not let a person register (and therefore post) under a name that has already been registered.
For instance, Kat who posted on the first page that her name was taken, will have to choose a different blog moniker.
Since the thing which most offends me is the stealing of other people’s monikers and posting crap, there’s nothing but good about this kind of registration.

Then, the email that was s’posed to come to me took about 10 minutes to arrive. Not a big deal, I guess, but not exactly confidence-inspiring after all the other issues.
Mine went to spam…. and took 30 mins to come in. Quite strange. And I used the email address that I used before we needed logins. Those that are having issues with email addresses, I am seriously confused as to why. No tech support from me, unfortunately

So far I am able to post today without registering, so am I somehow already registered?
No matter what anyone says there is a dual purpose to the resistration system….one to provide more demographic info to prospective advertisers (such as age group)…..
…and one to manage the crazies a bit better …..maybe

Nothing new to add since addressing it two days ago. Here’s what Fredi said then, in second note here:

I understand why the AJC wants to do this… good premise, it just might drive away good people than the bad ones it stops. Not to mention that since there are so many AJC users, quite a few names overlap, as I’m sure is the case on this blog. Some of those names might’ve gotten registered for regular users of Rodney HO’s blog or some other (not as popular) blog.

Watching the interview just now with Uggla and I just can’t get mad at the guy anymore. He’s so nice and tells you he pretty much stinks right now. He said he’s working hard at it everyday and he sounded discouraged on why things aren’t working for him. Let’s all hope the guy figures something out and he rides out a hot streak way in to the postseason.

Somebody mentioned in his last start that Hanson can’t command the fastball, and that sounds about right. That should be your number 1 pitch and if you can’t control that you’re in some real trouble I would think.

Boston Globe is a pay site so you prolly can’t read too many articles, if any, but pull it up on your phone or iPad to see what I’m talking about. It’s called Responsive Design and it’s the only way I will design a website these days, and have for about 2 years now.
Am I surprised that is what passed for a redesign from the Cox Media Group? No.

count and phil – Already tried the forgot password and tried adding a couple of numbers to Lew to change it up, but it won’t let me reset the password or take a new name because it keeps telling me my email is already taken. Apparently they already have me registered and if I don’t have to keep logging in where I’d need the forgotten password, I’ll be all right.

Hanson’s problems are simple to me. Everything, from long innings, hitters adjusting to him as the game goes on, all that has to be because he’s having to go to slow, loopy stuff for outs.

Lew – I feel you to some degree. It stripped out my underscore in count_schemula and there is no way I could find to email anyone about it. It said – and _ were valid but it won’t let me use them.
This morning I had to send several forgot password requests. About 4 hours later they all showed up at once.
Watching various parts of the website light up and flicker has been kinda painful.
I suspect there are two dudes in a basement somewhere who are having the worst week of their life and won’t see any sleep for the next few days.
