Then again, I’m sure they will….oh well, if so, it was good gabbing with you all over the last year and a half….

Uggla can drive a fan crazy, but I do like the guy as a person. Even from the tv I can tell he’s as real a person as there is. Maybe if he didn’t care so much about other people’s feelings he would use his talents as a hitter more consistent. I bet he presses trying to please people. I’m a people pleaser myself.

Dodgers only effectively added AGon. Who knows what Crawford will be and Beckett is done. They may have actually hurt themselves. I know people are critical of Braves for not going out and getting the high price guys but how is that also working out for Detroit & the Angels? The model of 2-3 max paid superstars works in the NBA but with MLB you win with depth and balance.

Larry A – Just here for a last post. I put Hanson it with Sheets, because you still don’t know until Beachy comes back? Should be an interesting off season though. I think we should keep Francisco on the bench next year, because I would like Prado to stay at 3rd, and Braves to spend big money on big LF. bat…..Forget the starting pitching. It will be fine. So, just to see what the buzz was all about, I registered.

My take is, if AJC doesn’t get their act together, this will kill the blog, if they enforce registration.

First, in Mozilla Firefox, the captch image didn’t show. It told me to enter the text in the image, but there was no image.

Switched to IE, and went thru the process again. This time, the captcha image was there, but (of course) unreadable. Decided to hit the speaker, and have it play it for me. Sounded like something out of The Exorcist, as it played a continuous stream of various voices uttering unintelligible words. No two words were more prominent than any others, so it was no help.

Killed that, refreshed captcha and was able to read the next words. So, finally got that done. (as others have noted, captcha is always a PITA, not just here)

Then, the email that was s’posed to come to me took about 10 minutes to arrive. Not a big deal, I guess, but not exactly confidence-inspiring after all the other issues.

Got it done, though maybe not needed.

Again, I’m not opposed to some type of registration, but that alone will thin the ranks a lot. And if the process isn’t more efficient than I found it to be, you’ll lose a lot more due to that.

Animus, that would make sense as most IP service providers charge extra for a static IP address. Yours probably changes every 72 hours whether you restart you modem or not. 72 hours is a standard lease time for most DHCP servers, then a new IP addresss is issued.

Just a day off for Freeman, so could get another right-handed bat in lineup.

Lefty hitters vs. Padres starter Stults: .129 (8-for-62) w/ 2 extra-base hits, .154 OBP and .380 OPS; righty batters: .280 (49-for-175) w/ 14 exta-base hits, .333 OBP and .750 OPS.

M-V-P….Most Valuable Prado…the guy is amazing. True baller! Isn’t it interesting how the addition of Reed Johnson has given Fredi some flexibility to rest players and play righty/lefty pitching matchups. That tells you how poor the Braves bench was (and past Johnson/Ross/Francisco) still is, when you can’t count on a becnh player to give you a spot start! This should serve the team well in September as guys can catch a breather when needed.

Thought Topce: So I’ve heard some talk of Craig Kimbrel in the conversation for the NL Cy Young? That can only happen if there are no clear dominant starters, which I guess in the NL, there’s not. The NL has some great closers with Kimbrel, Chapman (CIN), and the Hammer-guy (PIT). All are having great years. Braves seem to be better about adding runs late in games, so the save chances have decreases. Much rather have a 4-5 run lead in the 9th, than 1-2. If Kimbrel could get closer to 45-50 saves I could see a possible Cy Young, but with the number of games remaining, I don’t think he’ll get that many chances, and no need to tire his arm out for that!

First, I love Medlen and am thrilled he is having this kind of success. Even when he was rehabbing from Tommy John and he was sitting on the bench, he felt like an integral part of the spirit of the team.

Second, DOB – This is a brilliant piece of writing. Your writing is always good and your reporting is top notch, but this is a particularly well-done piece. Great lede, great use of quotes, and great stats all pulled together in significantly less than 24 hours. Don’t be at all surprised but what the next step will be to start charging for digital subscriptions. I know that’s what the Tennessean in Nashville recently went to. You can read the headlines on all the articles, including sports, but you can’t click on any articles to read or comment on them. I know they were already in trouble with their subscriptions, as they are about as liberal-biased as the AJC in their news coverage, etc. Also, they have started limiting posting comments except through a facebook account. They use to have comments galore, but now have dwindled to hardly nothing at all. A friend I had there who still works there says they screwed up big time. I have no problem with registering with limited info, as it’s already that way on several sites I’m on such as the Indy Star, AZ Republic, Knoxville News\Sentinel, and others.
