If it did come down to a one game wildcard playoff, I believe we have a legitimate shot at winning the game with Medlen on the mound. It would be up to our offense to show up and actually produce runs in order to win the game. I have all the confidence in the world right now in Medlen, the Braves offense, not so much.

Hanson is about as bad as Chuck James was with his weak arm and slow fastball. At this point, Buddy Carlye would be a better option than either Hanson or Sheets.

Tommy Hanson is this year’s Derrick Lowe. And if brainless Freddi keeps “running him out there” until the end of the season, he MUST be fired!

The Braves can not hit left handed pitching, and this deep rotation is not so deep.Hanson to the pen situation pitching if he can do it.I like Dan Uggla D and grit but either he or the batting coach have to go.Sheets was a fad, bring up Delgado, get Simmons healthy. The Braves are owned by someone or something that is out of another state. Now I see why we are failing, they have no incentive to field a winner.Sports have turned int o$$$$$$$$$$ making and at the fans expense. It is almost like politics now,I used to enjoy talking politics, but now I shake my head in disgust.Hey they are partying this week on our dime, joke is on us.We have to cut back spending for you ,but hey we can blow the crap out of your money for a big party.FOR US democrat and republician (republican).I am starting a new party REPUBLICIAN.

The next time you see Hanson pitch, forget about his motion, and look at what a soft body he has. You should also take a look at the puffy red eyes. He looks like a different person from when he first came up and had a mid-90’s fast ball. I don’t think there is much a pitching coach can do about the reasons for his decline

I gave up on the Braves when Hanson gave up on that bunt… oh, I’ll still watch from home, but I won’t spend another dime on these guys. Some of these players obviously don’t care, so why should I?

“We dropped a fly ball; that’s going to happen,” Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said
In little league, it happens. In high school ball it happens. In the minors it happens, In the majors with million dollar professionals, it should never happen. The manager should be fired on the spot for saying that. If you are not going to hold your million dollar players to a higher standard, do not expect them to play for titles.

Chipper says we are still in the hunt for the division title. His prediction is about the same as his defense and catching a pop up. The big question is: Are they fading again as last year or will they manage to hold on by their fingertips for the wild card. No matter. If they get to post season they haven’t a chance with the good teams.

Freddie G. is a BS artist and doesn’t know what or how to manage a MLB team,he has no ability to inspire the guys and walks around like he’s on egg shells instead of geeting in some faces that arn’t producing, there in, you have the 2012 version of the Atlanta Braves.

I honestly enjoyed watching the teams that had no chance and yet gave it their all with limited talent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone have the stats on Uggla being in the line up and win % since the All Star break?
I know that that the Braves left SF feeling good and scoring runs, yet for some reason FG decided to put Uggla back in the line-up, and we see the result.
Its absurd that we are almost in Sept. and the manager is STILL juggling the line-up to get the right combination. Uggla is obviously not the same hitter minus the juice and FG is simple inept.

Tommy wasnt too bad but needs to get his command back and pitch like he can. He was our best pitcher early in the season and all-star worthy the last 2 years. We NEED HIM on top form!

Uggla NEEDS to keep playing. I think he will be out this slump in 2 weeks. Hes shown progress against tough pitching in the last week.

All you haters can go jump in a lake.

Matt, KEEP THUMPING YOUR BIBLE BROTHER! Lets face up to it. The Braves are going to have to start over just like in the 80’s. There is very little real talent coming back next year . there is no :D EEP POCKET” owner to provide quality fill in guys. This present team has no HEART at all. I am a fan for 30+ years and I watch every game on TV,so I feel I know what I am talking about. I hate to keep picking on the manager but how many times has he come out to protest a close call and protect his players . I repeat this team is history and as of now will not be a division winner in the near future. Get used to it.

“We dropped a fly ball; that’s going to happen,” Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. “A little miscommunication there with Pauly and Chipper. Danny’s in a season-long slump; so is Tommy-boy, but I’m going to keep running them out there. That’s going to happen. The players are going to make little-league errors and have season-long slumps; that’s going to happen, but I’m not going to get fired up, get mad, yell, bench anyone, send anyone down to the minors, or get thrown out of a game; that’s not going to happen. We had an epic collapse last season. That’s going to happen again.”

I don’t like being negative but Hanson’s delivery has always been a liability. Sending him to the bullpen where he’d come out with probably runners on base is not realistic. I don’t see anything to do but trade the young man. Sorry.

For all the Uggla bashers: I say stay with him. When he hits, he can carry the team … like he did last year. Yeah, it’s hard to watch him struggle when he’s paid so much but to his credit he hustles on every play and man’s-up when he is not doing well.

Which brings me to my next point: Not to screw the pooch but I don’t see Chipper hustling much these days. Last night’s error was a little-league error. He doesn’t run out plays to first. I know he’s 40 but he’s not 90. Leg it out dude! You’re still being paid a fortune in one year that most people could live on in a lifetime.

Not to pick on just Chipper… I’ve seen a few plays over the past week where a bobbled ball by the opponents would had resulted in a base hit only if the batter had really run. Are these guys not supposed to be an inspiration to younger players? WTF?

And, while I’m ranting, whose idea was it to put Prado on 1st. True the guy is great but don’t put him everywhere. If you have that mindset then why not replace Hanson with Prado as a starting pitcher. 1st base is not an easy position… leave FF there.

As far as MB in center field: He’s great. I know SB is an a-hole but the Braves will need to bend over on this one. Bourn is worth it to the Braves.

The problem this club has is that Prado is an excellent, excellent utility player with no true position. Francisco is a good replacement for Chipper at 3rd. Simmons is the shortstop of the future. Uggla, in spite of his troubles, is better at 2nd than Prado due to his hitting. FF at first is a no-brain decision. So the only place for Prado is the outfield where there are many faster options. Until then, I’d leave him there. And I’m not knocking Prado…he’s great….a jack of all trade but a master of none.

One more comment… regarding Freddie… I’m amused (too) by his deer-in-the-headlights interviews. He’s making his share of mistakes but it’s only his second season and he’s filling the shoes of Bobby Cox. Can’t we cut the guy some slack?

Back to the starting rotation: Yes, trade Hanson (sorry, Tommy), promote Delgado and give Sheets some rest and hope he can give you a few more games on a limited basis (like Chipper).

Even in Little League that is the shortstop’s play. I guess Larry’s hearing is getting bad. As he goes the team goes. Maybe they need a real leader not a 40 year old who wants to be a teenager with his mammos. Let him go.and take Hansen McCann, Bourn, with him.

Hate to be a party pooper, but consider the following facts:

The Nationals are in (were in) a losing funk. We go out and play teams we could have beaten and pick up some games against the Nats. What do the Braves do? 4-6.
The idiot manager goes again to Durbin and Venters for relief. What do they accomplish? 4 runs against them.
Dan Ugly has one good game, but is kept in for his power in the 8 hole?

What a joke.

Typical idiots posting after a Braves loss. Some can’t spell the players’ names, others think that guys like Bourn used to play for Pittsburgh…team still has about the 5th best record in ALL of baseball, and would be leading 2 other divisions, maybe 3. Braves played 20 games in like 20 days, while the Nats just had 2 off days in the span of 5 days. Much needed rest day today, come out firing on all cylinders tomorrow against the Phils!

We need to either shut Hanson down or move him to the pen. This Saturday the rosters expand to 40 and maybe we can get either Delgado, JJ or Teheran to man the Hanson spot for one game and see how Sheets is doing then maybe activate him.
In the last few starts the innings pitched has been Hanson 4 2/3, Medlen (or Meddog) 8, Maholm 6 1/3, Hudson 8, Minor 6 2/3, Sheets 4 1/3, Hanson 4 1/3, Medlen 6 2/3. I guess that says a weak link and that is Tommy “Russ Ortiz” Hanson. Before anybody says Ortiz won 20 games with Atlanta, that was on the team that could score 600 runs a game with that lineup.

Here comes St Louis, only 2 1/2 games back. Let the annual SWAN SONG begin. We have Uggla, a 13 MILLION dollar, power hitter who CAN’T HIT. A 40 year has been who CAN’T FIELD. And several has been pitchers WHO CAN’T pitch, but are well paid.

Add it all up and it spells OUT OF PLAYOFFS AGAIN. Count on it.

The sad reality is that Chipper is a big part of the problem. He was quoted as saying he feels that the Braves are playing pretty good baseball. Really? After this road trip? The team needs real leadership that won’t accept a 4 – 6 road trip as “pretty good baseball”. Until then, get ready for another collapse in September.
