Cmon blue that was a ball last inning!!!
Chipper starts the game with a dip, then some seeds and the on to gum. Watch.
August 28th, 201211:27 pm
I told you guys, Uggla is looking like he is slowly pulling out his slump the last few games…..LOOKOUT IF HE DOES! That would be a huge shot in the arm and rear end!
A single isn’t producing? He was on base waiting to be driven in….
August 28th, 201211:28 pm
And…Uggla has a two game hitting streak going – longest such streak since a 3 game streak 2 weeks ago.
August 28th, 201211:29 pm
3K’s for Freeman… that’s worse than anything Uggs does!
Hat trick for Freddie……..
This pitcher’s got Freddie’s number.
Fredo – For a guy like Uggla who is getting paid 13 mil to bring runs in, play this “great defense” everyone says he has, and most of all for a guy of his size and with his power… no a single is not producing…
who the hell cares if he strikes out
… and who cares if Chop Shop “gives him credit?”
August 28th, 201211:30 pm
Werner is carving this lineup to pieces, yet Medlen has the lead.
I sense a lull here….things need to ge going a bit…..hey VJ and Cab; how about making that place ‘rock!’
August 28th, 201211:31 pm
Medlen has all the support he needs and most likely all he will get.
August 28th, 201211:32 pm
You guys kick and hate on Uggla while he is down all you want.. I will pull for him because WE NEED HIM and send the team some POSITIVE vibes instead of the negativity and hatin’.
Come on Uggla, work through this slump thing and come through it just as hot as you did last year! You can do it Dano!
did not realize durbin went to woodlawn…crazy how close that was to me…
Disregard if this has already been posted.
Amazing Kris Medlen
August 28th, 201211:33 pm
Professonal….top notch move…just great.
needs to teach hanson that move
Medlen is awesome!
August 28th, 201211:34 pm
Indeed…. and the Braves need to only score 1 more run, because I (selfishly) want Kimmeh to get a save. Meds going the distance wouldn’t be bad either, would be good for my fantasy leagues!
August 28th, 201211:35 pm
If Meds is ever traded/not in our rotation next year, someone needs to be fired!
Mark Bowman @mlbbowman
Medlen now leads the team w/ three pickoffs. Maholm and Hanson have 2 and per @fauxfrankwren Uggla has at least one
August 28th, 201211:36 pm
So close prado!!! wouldve been a top ten! which would have forced ESPN to show DA Braves on tv! haha
Professional duh? Anybody else having trouble with words/letters not showing up on comments when–in fact–originally typed correctly????
So that’s why Prado only plays SS occasionally?
August 28th, 201211:37 pm
Simmons def would have made the play but he wouldnt have had to dive haha
August 28th, 201211:38 pm
August 28th, 201211:39 pm
Medlen is very good, y’all. Exceptional.
Medlen is just NASTY…
August 28th, 201211:40 pm
This Medlen kid is a star…
Medlen runs his scoreless innings streak to 26, has a 2-0 lead through six.
For my money; he’s our ‘Ace.’
Yeah, this Medlen guy is doing pretty good for a #4 or #5 starter
Medlen might be our ace heading into the next year.
August 28th, 201211:41 pm
Can’t Medlen pitch every day? Or at least cloned? I’d love having 5 Meds in the rotation, and a bullpen of 6 Medlens (2 LH, of course) and Kimbrel…. that’d be friggin awesome.
Hope Meds isn’t gonna be like the wonderful one hoss shay, when he finally gives up a run he will just disintegrate into ashes
August 28th, 201211:42 pm
Andrew..’Not this Time,’ Werner
No way I thought Medlen would be this good. He’s just figured it out I guess. Good because I know they need him bad.
Holy dominance Batman! Can Medlen get some CY votes? Could be a stretch to ask for winning CY but somebody please put in a vote or 2 for this guy.
August 28th, 2012
Medlen might be our ace heading into the next year
Not if Fruti can find an excuse to put him backi in the pen!
For anybody that cares, and who has the mlb package or mlb.tv….. Dick Enberg can’t rave enough about Medlen. I’ve always liked listenting to what other announcers think of the Braves (call it the anti-homerism fascination).
But is there ANY doubt that Medlen belongs in this rotation for good moving forward?
Dude is frickin mini-Maddux out there.
A question to ponder:
Would Kris Medlen have won the Cy Young Award had he been in the starting rotation from the start of the season? Or, did the Braves do a very smart thing by putting him the bullpen initially and lower his total innings pitched to give time for his surgically repaired shoulder the extra time to recover to make him this effective?
August 28th, 201211:43 pm
LOL Animus…. he’s so overrated, the comparisons to Glavine are bogus
ross will play tomorrow so this mccann’s last chance for a hit in the series
Braves lefty hitters rejoice. They put in a RHP.
You guys are putting the ultimate jinx on him. Shhh.
I wouldnt say ace, ChattTown but he def wont be #4 or 5 thats for sure
August 28th, 201211:44 pm
Great meeting Kat and Wayne – just need to stay ahead (just occasionally glancing at the blog)…
Not so fast….well, at the leat Meds can be Co-Aced into pitching more!
Ken – actually it was TJ surgery, and I think the Braves wanted to limit his innings. And they had a lot of promise coming out of ST, felt the pen was the place for him. Remember, he only started once some of the more promising pitchers faltered.
August 28th, 201211:45 pm
Negative nolie…. Meds ain’t giving up any runs anytime soon!
Can Medlen get some CY votes?
Agree, he deserves to get some… he’s been great, and will continue to do so.
Uggla has bigger muscles now…..Tiger Milk Dan?
Ken, IMHO Braves did a smart thing. But he should garner a few votes. Strong finishes impress voters.
“Braves lefty hitters rejoice. They put in a RHP.”
…. and yet McCann still looks like an over-matched boy among men. Sigh….
I have DirecTV and the MLB Extra Innings package and many times I have watched the Padres late at night here in New Mexico just because I so much like Dick Enberg as a baseball announcer. He has more fame from football play-by-play, but I think he’s best as a baseball play-by-play man.
He is very honest and gives credit where due. No one can look at Medlen’s performances and draw much of any negative. The man has just flat out done the job! If he had ten more starts in 2012 and kept this up, he’d win the Cy Young going away.
I still think despite the limited innings and starts, he will still get some significant votes.
I think uggle has already started back to the dugout
August 28th, 201211:46 pm
yup… good job uggla
There’s the real Uggla!
That home run just bought Uggla 10 more games.
August 28th, 201211:47 pm
Thanks for the correction! I could not remember if it was Tommy John or a shoulder and obviously guessed wrong!
Also like the way Meds won’t just give up his at-bat
August 28th, 201211:48 pm
Agreed Ken. He’s good as a baseball announcer. Now if we could just get Dan Dierdorf in the booth with him. Kidding. He’s horrible.
August 28th, 201211:49 pm
medlen is so good he’s making everyone forget how terrible our offense is right now
The earlier Homer by Dan is equivalent to 8 walks…..I know he cares!
Would trade the bad ABs for a dinger twice a week from Uggla. I know it is setting the bar low but would at least be an upgrade.
Comparisons to Glavine & Maddux are premature. The guy has only started 24 games in his career, if he continues to pitch well for the next ….. 15 years, then the comparisons can begin. Seriously, he’s doing well, enjoy it and hope it continues for a long time in Atlanta.
August 28th, 201211:50 pm
As soon as you get some giddy up back in your step, here comes the strikeouts again. I really think McCann needs to sit. Sorry McFann. He was awesome at one time but has become a shell of his former self. Hope he snaps out but I don’t see it happening this year.
August 28th, 201211:51 pm
The line up better get its act together. They have a lead but this is troubling to only have two runs after being shut out last night and shut down for much of the past two weeks.
26 2/3 cosecutive scoreless innings pitched by Medlen.
I could see more of the Prado starting at SS then moving to LF for defense late. At least until Simmons gets back.
August 28th, 201211:52 pm
I woulda preferred Pastornicky at SS to finish the game, but Janish is okay…
Take a look at this play: It’s amazing…. 2 players touch the ball, and still record the out.
Animus – None of the braves current pitchers can be compared to Maddox or Glavine
August 28th, 201211:53 pm
August 28th, 201211:54 pm
Great, McCann dinged up again…
That’s why I don’t catch…. those kinda hits hurt.
Careful Medlen, you are beyond 75 pitches and “your effectiveness may start slipping”…
Here Comes Honey Boo Boo
no more babies….
Good thing Mac already has a kid – may not be able to have any more after that hit! OUCH
N8 – I’ve been listening to Chip tonight but I did listen to Dick Enberg the last series against the Padres. I prefer Enberg over Vince Scully of the Dodgers too, although both are HOF announcers. I think Scully only does home games now.
August 28th, 201211:55 pm
Ouchhhhhhhhhh that was in a bad spot.
Medlen is making everyone hurt themselves! haha
August 28th, 201211:56 pm
wonder if cab is close enough to hear mac swearing
In Little League a cup is mandatory. Surprising how many MLB players do not wear one.
Tiger – she’ll have to listen for a very high pitched F-Bomb
August 28th, 201211:57 pm
He (BMac) was awesome at one time but has become a shell of his former self. Hope he snaps out but I don’t see it happening this year.
BMac is .276/.344./.276/.620 over his last 8… and .246/.329/.463/.792. He’s done better in 2nd half than in his 1st half…. he’s coming around, I hope.
27.1 IP scoreless for Meds #LikeABoss
Heisenberg – I think most baseball players quit wearing cups at high school.
August 28th, 201211:58 pm
Only 86 pitches, looks like he’s strong. Could be another CG for him. Wouldn’t mind seeing Kimbrel come in though.
August 28th, 201211:59 pm
not much fun to wear a cup as a catcher
Hate to post-n-run but I am not on SD time. Good night. Catching the rest of this from a horizontal position.
braves lead the national league in walks by a wide margin (454) next closest the mets with 423.
Chop Shop: You are correct… though some coaches make sure that catchers wear them, esp. with the hard-throwing pitchers. Most guys I know (myself included) rarely, if ever, wear them. But I’m an OF/2B, so it’s not needed often.
August 29th, 201212:00 am
Cups are uncomfortable, but…the one time you don’t wear one…you get hit, crawl away thinking you’re going to die…and throw up in front of everyone. (I think that’s the order it happened, I’ve tried to block the memory out)
