I told you guys, Uggla is looking like he is slowly pulling out his slump the last few games…..LOOKOUT IF HE DOES! That would be a huge shot in the arm and rear end!
Fredo – For a guy like Uggla who is getting paid 13 mil to bring runs in, play this “great defense” everyone says he has, and most of all for a guy of his size and with his power… no a single is not producing…
You guys kick and hate on Uggla while he is down all you want.. I will pull for him because WE NEED HIM and send the team some POSITIVE vibes instead of the negativity and hatin’.
Come on Uggla, work through this slump thing and come through it just as hot as you did last year! You can do it Dano!
Medlen has all the support he needs and most likely all he will get.
Indeed…. and the Braves need to only score 1 more run, because I (selfishly) want Kimmeh to get a save. Meds going the distance wouldn’t be bad either, would be good for my fantasy leagues!
Can’t Medlen pitch every day? Or at least cloned? I’d love having 5 Meds in the rotation, and a bullpen of 6 Medlens (2 LH, of course) and Kimbrel…. that’d be friggin awesome.
For anybody that cares, and who has the mlb package or mlb.tv….. Dick Enberg can’t rave enough about Medlen. I’ve always liked listenting to what other announcers think of the Braves (call it the anti-homerism fascination).
But is there ANY doubt that Medlen belongs in this rotation for good moving forward?
Would Kris Medlen have won the Cy Young Award had he been in the starting rotation from the start of the season? Or, did the Braves do a very smart thing by putting him the bullpen initially and lower his total innings pitched to give time for his surgically repaired shoulder the extra time to recover to make him this effective?
Ken – actually it was TJ surgery, and I think the Braves wanted to limit his innings. And they had a lot of promise coming out of ST, felt the pen was the place for him. Remember, he only started once some of the more promising pitchers faltered.
I have DirecTV and the MLB Extra Innings package and many times I have watched the Padres late at night here in New Mexico just because I so much like Dick Enberg as a baseball announcer. He has more fame from football play-by-play, but I think he’s best as a baseball play-by-play man.
He is very honest and gives credit where due. No one can look at Medlen’s performances and draw much of any negative. The man has just flat out done the job! If he had ten more starts in 2012 and kept this up, he’d win the Cy Young going away.
I still think despite the limited innings and starts, he will still get some significant votes.
Comparisons to Glavine & Maddux are premature. The guy has only started 24 games in his career, if he continues to pitch well for the next ….. 15 years, then the comparisons can begin. Seriously, he’s doing well, enjoy it and hope it continues for a long time in Atlanta.
As soon as you get some giddy up back in your step, here comes the strikeouts again. I really think McCann needs to sit. Sorry McFann. He was awesome at one time but has become a shell of his former self. Hope he snaps out but I don’t see it happening this year.
The line up better get its act together. They have a lead but this is troubling to only have two runs after being shut out last night and shut down for much of the past two weeks.
N8 – I’ve been listening to Chip tonight but I did listen to Dick Enberg the last series against the Padres. I prefer Enberg over Vince Scully of the Dodgers too, although both are HOF announcers. I think Scully only does home games now.
Chop Shop: You are correct… though some coaches make sure that catchers wear them, esp. with the hard-throwing pitchers. Most guys I know (myself included) rarely, if ever, wear them. But I’m an OF/2B, so it’s not needed often.
