Uggla talked about that ball he almost hit out. That in a nutshell is his problem. I’d like to hear him talk more about that liner up the middle, or that hit through the right side. Somehow he has forgotten that the homers will come if he would just try to make good contact and stop trying to kill the damn thing. What a lost cause he is.

Jerry I think he only talked about it because that’s the one he was asked about. He may have mentioned his other AB’s, but those comments didn’t make the cut. Unless there exists film I haven’t seen?

Have to feel good with Medlen going. While the offense of course is streaky it inspires much more confidence than the last two years. The defense, rotation, and bullpen all appear playoff caliber. Fredi as manager? Questionable at best. Go Braves!

Since we’re hoping that Peter Moylan will be among the September callups

Don’t count ME when you sat WE, He can’t even get AAA hitters out so why on earth would we want Moylan over Gearrin?

Like I said yesterday, this is a Pennant race we’re in, not a personality contest. I know Moylan is probably a good guy in the clubhouse but we’re talking about a valuable roster spot and until he shows he can still pitch lets just keep him in the clubhouse and off the field.

For the months of June, July, and August, Uggla is hitting .159.

For the month of August, McCann is hitting .190 with ZERO extra base hits and 2 RBIs.

The Braves are in a tight race to make the play-offs. Can they afford to let these guys (as much as I like them) continue to be their everyday players down the stretch?

Braves lineup: Bourn cf, Prado ss, Heyward rf, Jones 3b, Freeman 1b, Johnson lf, McCann c, Uggla 2b, Medlen p

First time Uggla’s ever hit 8th.

Fredi Gonzalez wanted Johnson in lineup and will again tomorrow vs. LHP. He’s not sure who’ll be out tomorrow, could be Chipper, with Prado playing third. If Chipper feels like he could use a day off.

DOB says leave the tough questions to the columist. He should leave trade rumors like the Griffey debacle to them also. If you don’t believe me ask Hudson. — ACE

You mean the story we had about Griffey telling his good friend (and former Braves bat boy) that he was coming to the Braves? Actually, that was a columnist that got that. Our former columnist, Terry Moore, who knew the guy well. I wrote the story, though. And we stood by the information and do to this day. I did NOT write that he was going to play for the Braves. I wrote that he told his friend he was going to. Which he did.

He then changed his mind.

Problem was, the headline stated that he was going to play for the Braves. I had no say in the headline, didn’t see it till it was in the paper. But since my name was on the story, I took all the heat.

But I’m a big boy, and I took it then and can still take it today from the obsessed few who still bring it up. So go ahead. Mention it every hour on the hour, if that’s what does it for you. By addressing this now, I know I’m giving you the attention you crave and only encouraging you to keep bringing it up. But that’s because I don’t care.

So please, feel free.

What irks me the most, and I don’t get on Fredi a whole lot, is the multitude of lineup changes he makes. As for whether or not the Nationals decide to shut Strasburg down or not, I’d almost be willing to bet that if he continues to pitch throughout, he will look like he looks tonight. “I remember Jason being benched quite a bit last season, when he was struggling”

if you look up some quotes by Fredi when he sat Heyward he says, “he’s going with the hot hand” (Constanza over Heyward). In this case if you replaced him with the “hotter hand” Prado, you’d be playing Prado in a position he’s not really use to. So currently they don’t really have a hotter hand who plays 2nd but if they did maybe we might see Uggla sitting a bit more often.

Hard to believe Reed Johnson has only 1 RBI since joining the Braves.

Anyone old enough to remember Ken Oberkfell, Braves’ full-time 3B in the mid-80’s? He’d hit around .275 and get around 35-40 RBI’s over the course of a season. Not really comparing him to Johnson, just remembering a guy who was all BA and no production.

Before the Mahomie/Johnson trade I wanted Diaz/Constanza platooning in left and Prado at 2B. Now, I’d rather have Johnson play left and Prado at 2B. I think we would have been better before the trade and would have more wins under our belt with Constanza/Diaz and now we are better with Johnson playing regularly. Uggla reached the point of no return a while back in my opinion. Not because of what he was hitting 215 but because of how. He lets FBs down the middle go, then will wave at offspeed pitches off the plate.

I was Ugglas biggest critic on here and caught some grief because many thought inevitable “hot streak” would lead us to the promised land in August but I was convinced then, and I still am now, that it isn’t going to happen consistently again.

I gave my word that I would stop bashing Uggs and I did and this post isn’t meant to be a bashing. Its more of, I wish FG would sit Uggla now because he is a train wreck. He tries hard, he is obviously pressing badly, and the failures he is going through is destroying his ability to ever play well again. Sure he makes a lot of money and thats pointed out often on here but that isn’t his fault. I feel badly for the guy. Not like he has a crappy attitude or loafs and he feels worse about his performance right now than anyone on this blog.
