Very upbeat clubhouse afterward. Highlight: D.Ross came over while we were interviewing McCann, blew his nose on back of Mac’s shirt.

McCann shouted, “Nice game, Huddy,” to which Hudson (2 hits) replied, “I pitched pretty good, too.”

just running some models…how about this scenario…LA & Cardinals tied at end of regular season – cardinals after playing a night game fly from st louis to LA for a play in game (no day off)…winner flys to atlanta for the wild card game again with no day off-they would finish playing a baseball game at what 1:30 eastern then fly across the country to start another baseball game 17 hours later (just hope we dont end up as the traveling team in that scenario)

A BOMB:
Spent Christmas week at Pacific Beach in 1986. Seems the mix of folks was about the same then. Boy, I was in my prime then. The beach was smooth, flat, and firm. Only place where I jogged two miles in reverse and two mile regularly. Great to strengthen the feet, ankles, and calves. I’d give a lot now to get that feeling of strength and exhilaration back for a day.

Hudson? HOF?
A-Bomb — If he pitches into his mid 40’s and has another 20 W season you have to think about it.
A big impactful post season run won’t hurt either.
Part of the allure of Smoltz was his post season record (not all of it but a signifigant part of it).

This is about the time of yr when school should start — not the first week of August.
Should be from the day after Labor Day to the Friday before Memorial Day. GIve kids their summers back.
If kids want to study in the Summer it should be voluntary. Keep the politicians and state regulators out of eductaion. To Hell with CRCT tests. Hell, I dn;t remember a single question on any of those tests I took anyway.

Again – suggestion to all the San Diego travelers —
PHIL’S BBQ. Closed Monday. Best BBQ in SoCal by far. BBQ sauce is crazy good. Get the El Torro or the Broham sandwich. Onion rings have their own gravitational pull.
Take note DOB.

Dozens of small to moderate earthquakes struck southeastern California on Sunday, knocking trailer homes off their foundations, shattering windows and rattling nerves in a small farming town east of San Diego.
The largest quake, at 1:57 p.m., registered at a magnitude 5.5 and was centered about three miles northwest of the town of Brawley, said Robert Graves, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey. Another quake about an hour and a half earlier registered at magnitude 5.3.

If things are finally starting to go the Braves way, maybe this could be a good week for them in the NL East (assuming they don’t pull out a huge letdown in the Pads series):
Monday: take advantage of the Nats off day, gain a half game.
Tues-Wed: Nats are playing the Fish, another NL East team they’re not playing as good as they’re playing the Braves (and only slightly better than the Phils)
Thurs: Braves are off while the Nats have to play the Cardinals, another possible half game in the standings to gain (Cardinals will probably be pitching Jaime Garcia, who hasn’t been great this year; but their offense will be facing Average Edwin Jackson)
