Braves manager will ‘pick his spots’ to rest slumping Uggla

Tough spot for Wren and the Braves. Look how consistent Uggla was and then he came here and has been well below norms.

McCann has been very consistent but has battled injuries the past 2 seasons and the numbers are trending down. But I think it’s all about health with him. Gotta do the option and hope for a healthy McCann who will hit 280/360/460 25 HR and help this team win and go from there. 1 year deals are always better than long term commitments. So we shouldn’t worry about McCann and money quite yet.

Cabrera should be disqualified from winning the batting title this season.

I agree, but there is no rule in place for that -yet. I’d like to see Bud Light come out with a ruling on it before they give him the award.

I guarantee you Jaun Francisco will get a shot at 3rd base before the Braves pay Prado 3rd year arb money to play 3rd. Is Francisco a sure thing? No, but I think he works hard to improve and will play better as a regular.

As hard nosed as it would be, I would love to see the Braves trade a healthy McCann to the Rays for Paul Shields. 1 year guarantee vs. 2 years at the same price. McCann has been going downhill since 2008 and is not going to be out working with Jaun Francisco this winter.

Fatcisco just gave us a glimpse of what to expect if he’s a regular in the lineup next year. Occasional massive HR, albeit with no one on base, surrounded by plenty of Ks and grounders.

VaBravesFan said “Next year Francisco’s production will be about the same as Uggla in 2011″. Try more like Uggla in 2012. Check the stats, and you see that they have almost the same strikeout rate, HR rate, RBI rate, etc. Uggs as a higher OBP and OPS – due to more walks, and Fatcisco has a higher BA. And Uggs has a way better glove.
