why do i have the feeling we will hit into a double play
Long time Braves fan in San Francsico
August 24th, 20121:01 am
Unreal. The Braves wait until I get home before the offense wakes up. Even if we dont come back and win…at least the Giants bullpen had to be used.
Braves sure waited long enough to try to make things interesting, don’t ya think? But here we are. Second pitching change of the ninth, still none out, two on., lead down to 5-2.
Jet Lag may be a small part of the problem. The bigger issue is the Braves record against LHP. Can someone post that stat please?
My bad, Uggla has two walks and one single.
its actually better for Dan not to swing the bat
The Braves offense is full of wasted opportunities and this is more than just a little slump.
This is a full blown collapse — again. This team will never go to the playoffs with this core group, not after last yr and this yrs repeat.
Collapse this yr and you ight as well blow this team up. And they will choke again.
Uggla is worth that salary!!!
cab: do stay away, it’s working for now
August 24th, 20121:02 am
The Braves are 22-25 in games started by a left-handed pitcher.
need another walkhere
The other Javier Lopez is pitching
Hope BMac is using an ash bat again, for those watching the game.
August 24th, 20121:03 am
dont try to hit a homer…please just go for a line drive somewhere
This is what one would label as “pure unadulterated torture”. They are just teasing us here in the last inning only to go down in defeat once again. It’s similar to “waterboarding” just not as wet!
Come on McCann pull a Craig Biggio and let that pitch hit you
Uggla’s not getting paid what he is to walk. That being said, move him to leadoff and let Bourn leave.
Yeah… why not?
A single/double would work just fine. DON’T OVERSWING!
The only way Uggla can get on base is to NOT swing the bat.
Makes me wanna be a Nats fan. At least they won’t choke up in bg games like this so called team has historically done.
The A Bomb
Swinging for the fences would be a mistake.
Yea its worse than Chinese Water Torture
August 24th, 20121:04 am
I’m sure some how that’s Uggla’s fault there, right? Haha
you have to fight when you got 2 strikes
that 2nd pitch wasn’t a strike, that 3rd pitch was nasty…. fooled BMac
If BMac gets a hit, I say pinch hit Heyward for Janish and move Prado to SS.
wasnt a double play
Straight down the effing middle
A-Bomb, I thought you were referring to lineup changes and “benching” guys.
I misunderstood you. Yes. You are right. Cox did “force” the action a bit more when scuffling.
The way Bourn has fallen off the map letting him leave might not be the worst thing in the world.
This whole mess is falling apart.
For the first time ever, I am really getting sick of McCann.
August 24th, 20121:05 am
McCann, get the bat off of your shoulders.
so ross pulled for heyward here…
CRAP!!! But do it anyway, Fredi!
Well not swinging and letting a pitch right down the middle is worse than swinging for the fences
Mccant strikes again
Damn…. guess Heyward comes in now to PH?
Wow Brian, just SIT there and watch strike 3!!!!
Huh – Finally seeing Fredi use his backup catcher to PH. I like seeing this, he (Fredi) really wants to win this game.
Guess his theory of every game is just a game isn’t his only mantra. This is a big game.
And let’s see JHey PH now – he’s ready.
August 24th, 20121:06 am
What a way to go from a possible shutout by Zito to a save situation
Something must be up with Heyward.
Sergio Romo brought in after Braves announce Ross PHing. So ATL counters with Heyward. 4th pitcher of inning for Giants
August 24th, 20121:07 am
Well if Heyward hits a HR here it will be a brilliant move…. A rare thing to say about any Fredi move
Mc Shamm deserves to be Booed. He is a BUMB. He is the worst player in MLB.
An injury excuse waiting to happen.
N8 — Elite managers know how to run a game by the seat of their pants. Manage for the moment.
Say what you want but Cox had “it.”
Gonzalez scripts everything out and it’s killing this franchise.
This is FINALLY looking like a good game – if they come back and win this one – WOW what a huge win it will be.
Those are actually white buzzards sitting out there overlooking the park.
Guys, guys, easy on BMac…. he might not have seen that! His eyes are spotty ya know
I seriously think that he was expecting a different pitch, and got frozen.
Let’s go Hey…. blast another RHP please.
I would rather him K than hit into a DP on that sinker…
August 24th, 20121:08 am
Man this is worse than Waterboarding
So we baically just burned a PH there. Damn I cannot figure out Fredi’s decisions.
guess losing 5-2 instead of 5-0 looks better.
Well, at least Heyward beat it out…. It’s Juan Fran time, not feeling too good
thank goodness for that speed
August 24th, 20121:09 am
Gotta admire Hayward – put his head down and ran hard down the line to spoil the double play.
At least Heyward hustled down the line to save one out, but that was not good.
This game is done. This team is done and by September 15th they will be done till next yr.
Fredi must go.
Heyward does his patented weak grounder to second base. I would have appreciated a more selective approach at the plate in that situation.
Yunel's Frosted Tips
August 24th, 20121:10 am
Would much rather have seen Jason hit against Lopez than Romo. The righty-lefty thing be damned.
I am normally not one to say “I told you so”, but I did inform ye thusly!
C’est la vie
Damn…. down to 12-10 for August, 1-3 against the Giants, outscored 25-9 by them this year.
Who we blaming tonight? NO way in heck it can be Uggla so who is it going to be?
you cant wait till the 9th to start playing boys…that’s what the first eight innings are for
took a while longer but in the end the team that looked like it was going to win did win
Pitiful game. Just pitiful. I hope the Braves come to play tomorrow.
Well, Fredi thought “outside the box” in regards to PH’ing his backup catcher, in the end, too many wasted early opportunities – Hanson killed them in his last inning.
Damn – jet lag just killed them I guess
“Who we blaming tonight?”
Hanson and the offense
Great effort, made them at least use their bullpen could help later on in the series….
August 24th, 20121:11 am
It is pretty bad to say this, but at least the Braves scored two runs.
Sundrop happy to be right about Braves losing. no surprise. He is not a braves fan
The way its going the Braves are going to struggle just to stay over .500 the way these BUMBS are playing.
Welcome to Chokeville. Nothing but a choke team — again and the same thing will happen next yr and the next.
This is not a major league team anymore. I doubt they win another series the rest of the way.
Oh………….I forgot to blame Delta…….it’s there fault we lost……
Had to force them to use the RHP, …. if he sent Heyward out there to start, he’d have been shredded by the lefty.
August 24th, 20121:12 am
This uninspiring play needs to stop. This team looks terrible right now.
“Hanson and the offense”
Dang Uggla get’s the night off from the blame game?
Hanson stinks — what a bust of a so called ace. Second rate major league SP.
August 24th, 20121:13 am
I swear a high school baseball coach could do a better job with game management than Fredi. Might be a super great guy, be he seems out of his league. So many baseball writers and commentators have alluded to the fact and/or raised questions about his decisions.
They will finish August with a losing record and you know September will be a guaranteed clunker.
Hello everyone Maybe, Braves should watch their jet leg again? Man….. all those flights……
In my opinion, the loss tonight is all on the offense. A couple of misplayed balls cost Hanson a few runs, but….if the offense had scored early when they really had chances, the game plays out differently.
Still, Hanson is my “6th man out” – BP for him come Sep 1.
August 24th, 20121:14 am
when its sleepy time down south…
macc, will come through.
the dude has not touched home plate in the month of august.
he has not scored one run in august.
who the f*** really needs Fredi Gonzalez sound as Chip called it? When has that fool ever broke fresh ground in a post game interview…….
“Uggla get’s the night off from the blame game”
even Uggla needs a blame game off every now and then, we can pick it back up tomorrow
August 24th, 20121:15 am
Man those West coast fligjhts…….Just terrible. LOL
August 24th, 20121:16 am
Great job FREDDI you should be manager of the year. Just to bad your parents got over here on that raft.
There is no difference between last yrs team and this yrs except that the collapse is comming 10 games earlier.
Joe gone be blaming tomorrow nites loss on San Francisco trannies……….
Hanson should be traded next year.
Largesse Outweighs Urbanity
Lou did it.
August 24th, 20121:17 am
Hanson’s “poor” outing hurt us…. don’t think he’ll be staying in the rotation. Hope he doesn’t get mad and curse out Fredi
Of course, when you waste those early scoring opportunities like we did, it’s gonna be hard to win.
I gotta hand it to Gonzalez — he’s consistent.
There was no such thing as a BIG GAME last season, and there’s no such thing as a BIG GAME this season.
Players want to see a manager throw the kitchen sink at a team. This is like a football team with no running game. Always going for the explosive play. Killing us for 1.4 seasons now and if the NL was ANY stronger we’d be a heckuva lot closer to .500 than we are now.
Wonder what Wren thinks about the job Gonzalez is doing with his talent? He cannot be happy.
But I’ll repeat — for prolonged slumps to continue there has to be a lot of mind-screwing going on. And how can young players trust a manager who puts his golden goofy godson in the lineup nearly every night despite the incredible buffoonery?
The flight card is nothing but a poor excuse. And these announcers are embellishing it.
What a sorry bunch of excuse makers.
I hope not a collapse, but it’s not looking good, and the Dodgers, Cards, and Pirates are within distance.
August 24th, 20121:18 am
Zito was NOT terrific – the offense will show up sometime tomorrow morning, I don’t want to hear excuses about the travel.
Braves always have trouble against LH pitchers, and this guy tonight had nothing special, just big swings as little pitches.
Bad start to the 4 game series – hope the team can win the next 3 – gonna need it.
August 24th, 20121:19 am
macc, will come through…the dude has not touched home plate in the month of august….he has not scored one run in august.
Dang, that’s bad
