Agree totaaly with your logic there. Thats my problem with our second sacker and that 33 game streak last year or the year before or whenever it was.
August 23rd, 2012
Maybe we can get some quotes from the Giant players tonight.
(AP) …..Sandoval stated “You know how Bochy always tells us to give 110%? With the Braves, we only have to give like 70 %.”
great argument doofus
August 24th, 201212:08 am
Reed Johnson hasnt been a Brave long enough….He is still playing hard
Guy’s be cool, and try not to kill each other! We will have to get them tomorrow…..Talk later, and peace my friends…..”Go!!!!!Braves!!!!!”
what a come back by the braves!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yessss

Ric Flair to Right
The Braves might be one of the Wild Card teams, but there is no way they play in the Division Series which to me is the playoffs, no, this team misses the playoffs.
I said before TH pitched his 1st game after the DL that I thought he would pitch well(he did)but it was his next 2 starts following without the adrenaline and extra concentration(remember JJ against Boston) that would tell the tale. I give him credit for trying to throw more fastballs tonite than he’s been throwing especially before the DL. SF didn’t exactly kill him, but he’s just like a guy with a knife in a gun fight, not enough fire power.
quit hitting the damn ball up in the air guys
Have to get that runner to 3rd in that situation. Prado is usually pretty good about that.
August 24th, 201212:10 am
That’s a nice job boys after that lead off double. Unbelievable.
The A Bomb
AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!AIRBALL! AIRBALL!
The Braves are too pull happy and are flying out on everything
August 24th, 201212:11 am
Should have took notes in the Bottom of the 5th…..ABC baseball produced 4 runs for Giants.
pop flys pop flys pop flys
The way Hanson’s pitching, hopefully that will be a reason to get him out of the rotation
How does every other MLB team score runs off Zito. I mean Damn the braves can’t do sh** against this guy.
August 24th, 201212:12 am
Small ball beats “chicks dig the long ball” approach tonight.
Also why is McCann in this game, he has a bad shoulder, Zito is a Lefty and Ross hits leftys?
every team in the league is ripping zito, in san fran.
nc brave, karma ain’t real.
August 24th, 201212:13 am
Chip’s not just making excuses for TONIGHT… he is hoping jet lag doesn’t affect the REST OF THE WEST COAST TRIP… so you can see he doesn’t expect much out of the club over the next six games!
leadoff double that goes nowhere … i’ve seen this story before somewhere, recently too I think
double….and three pop flys
And THAT….was a pathetic inning. I’ve seen enough for the night.
This is Gonzalez. He won’t adjust to anything.
August 24th, 201212:14 am
Reed Johnson probably feels like he’s back with the Cubs watching this offense…or lack there of.
Leadoff double stranded at 2nd base… they must be hoping Zito will walk in a run at some point tonight…
Maybe the Braves can combine Sheets and Hanson for the 5th starter. The Rockies are doing some wierd stuff like that with their pitching.
They played the Mets today, and the starter pitched only 3 innings (65 pitches), and the Mets broadcast say they have been doing that for some time.
Apparently, Hanson was right he didn’t need a rehab start. I think he needed 2 or 3.
August 24th, 201212:15 am
I think Freeman needs a day off. When was the last time he had one of those?
This team has stopped hitting. Ugly.
We’re doing almost everything wrong again. Just like in September. It really is eerie.
I’ll karma your silly ass nc, what business is it of yours?
August 24th, 201212:16 am
DOB: any explanation from the players as to why they seem to always strugle against soft-tossing lefties? I mean, it almost seems like the best pitcher in a church sotball league would totally school this lineup.
Tonight’s game doesn’t count towards Hanson’s audition for the September 5 because of the coast to coast travel.
“I think Freeman needs a day off”
I think the whole team needs a day off, and a postponed game that gives them 2 days off in a row
soooooo many excuses…..
You can’t even get excited when the Braves get a hit for you know that is probably the only hit they are going to get that inning.
August 24th, 201212:17 am
no way hanson starts again. period.
The offense has stopped hitting for a while now…..
August 24th, 201212:18 am
what they gonna do with him Uga?
DOB, you must make tougher questions so the Braves can start hitting…
The “A BOMB” just exploded!
truth is this team in current form is never going to win anything….maybe a decent regular season record but no more. With the hall of famer finally gone and hopefully Uggla, McCann, Hanson either traded or releasd just start over with younger players from the farm system. Watching these washed up stiffs is plain sickening. AND a new manager of course.
Please, Braves, please don’t shut down a month early AGAIN!
Sally Thinks She's Nuts
I’m not watching. The chick who is there with her husband(?), what does he look like? Because if she is STILL there watching this, I must assume he looks like Uggla less the 13 million a year?
August 24th, 201212:20 am
nolie, teams see this. he has zero command on his fastball.
you tell me?
and dont forget…without some really bad defense last night, we get shut out there too….i mean no offense….none….nothing…..nada……and in fredi’s mind that means it’s time to sit our hottest hitter….and play our coldest
August 24th, 201212:21 am
D.O.B Do need comments from loser Freddi that ass pure sucks. You Heyward hot at age 23 cant play tonight yet Uggla get one day off every other month .B ourn walks cant steal but last night he dose up 4to1 and UGGLA stealing WOW.Giants win all four games because we would have to score five to even have a chance. Hanson should be the first to go this winter. I again say I will not waste my money to watch a Braves game with TACO BELL at the helm. Please Wren FIRE his SORRY ASS because OCT 3 are season will be over.
Zito had 1 win, 7.36 ERA and .327 opp avg in his past 5 starts before tonight. Has allowed 3 hits in 6 scoreless innings.
August 24th, 201212:22 am
Again, a possible silver lining in this very dark cloud. If the team crashes again, Fredi is gone – period. No more cap-tipping, thank God. If however we barely crawl to the finish and end up in Bud Selig’s idiotic one-game made-for-TV wild card crap shoot, regardless of whether we win or lose, it will be seen as “progress” and Fredi gets another year to tip his cap and drive us all nuts.
I expected more from Hanson tonight. If I was pitching for my “life”, as all 6 starters are right now, I think I could have stepped it up. Seems like he just doesn’t get it.
I like the guy, but he just isn’t getting it done. I think if Sheets has a good outing, Fredi’s decision will be made as to who goes in Sept.
I just hope the Offense wakes up in time for Sept to matter.
I was just about to turn on Cinemax. What was the name of the “lady” that Uggla was “dating”, I know he can’t hit, maybe his visual acuity is functional.
no idea Uga, that’s why I asked
36 HR, 84 RBI for Dunn are impressive, but the dude is only batting .205 with 178 Ks.
This lineup makes EVERYBODY look like Cy Young!
IMO, anytime the 3 or 4 that haved carried us has a bad night it shows horribly.
If Bourn, Prado, Chipper don’t hit(obviously JHey if he were playing tonight too) than we are toast. Freeman somewhat but the others are no-shows and have been carried by the ones already mentioned most of the year.
Nice. Now posts aren’t showing up again. I guess the blog has something in common with the Braves offense and Hanson’s ability to ge guys out.
Better shut him down before he ruins his trade value the way that Jair has done.
Somebody might still gamble on him in a trade this winter. Any more of this and he’ll be a DFA candidate after next season.
Funny how MLB works. The Braves wait to bring Hanson up until June as to not give him Super 2 status (never admitting this on the record of course), and he is likely to never get close to cashing in in a Braves uniform.
Sometimes it’s just safer to sell high.
August 24th, 201212:23 am
What a bad game. This is so similar to late August and September of 2011. Clearly, this team handles pressure and adversity quite poorly.
Jet lag seriously……Your gonna play the Jet lag card???????
You do know in the West they are 3 hours BEHIND!!!!!
Exactly. You do understand how Jet Lag works, right? Your body, especially on the first night, is still adjusted to a time that is 3 hours ahead of where you are, so when it is 7:00, you feel like it is 10:00. And you get tired earlier.
Braves went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position in first six innings.
And as much as I hate to pile on Uggla, he really has no clue when it comes to a breaking ball right now. Misses by MILES on those pitches – not professional AB’s at all.
STL over Houston 10-5…looks like the Braves are well on their way to losing their WC lead.
August 24th, 201212:24 am
Uggla swings and misses… YOU THINK???
nolie, i am no scout but i see a pitcher that is somewhat terrified to throw his fastball.
i think he as no idea where it will go.
tough to pitch that way. he definitely has developed the yakker.
he just cant get ahead in the count with his fastball.
August 24th, 201212:25 am
There is the customary Uggla strike out. No game is complete without him walking back to the dugout after 3 horrible swings.
i want this answered tonight by fredi
what is the logical thinking behind sitting heyward, playing bourn, uggla, and mccann during our worst offensive slump of the season against a guy we dont hit anyways. It absolutely needs to be asked…
good response to an ill-advised post…however, I have to agree with those who expose the jet-lag excuse…. they go out west all the time, and the Giants go East all the time….I like your posts 99% of the time, and I’d hate to disagree, but I have to this time.
August 24th, 201212:26 am

So no team has EVER won a game when flying to the west coast then? I guess I never noticed tat before. Good to know.
I agree that he has problems Uga, just not sure what they should do about it
August 24th, 201212:27 am
Flyballs and whiffs.
Great gameplan by Team Sabrmetrics. Home Run Derby.
One thing I DO find curious is the animosity toward DOB when the Braves do bad… how does he have ANYTHING to do with how this team performs?
Maybe DOB could start a “Here’s the question Fans From My Blog” want to ask you We could all post questions we want answered – vote and have the vote done by the 8th inning – and DOB would present it to him.
I mean, it’s not as if DOB doesn’t ask pertinent questions, right? And most bloggers on here have serious questions that SHOULD be asked.
these guys have no interest in talking about the game, the team, the staggering similiarties to last year’s collapse…..they r good with letting murphy tell a thousand different stories
August 24th, 201212:28 am
3 things I would prefer to never have to see: Rosie O’donnell naked, Dan Uggla period, Brian McCann trying to throw a runner out.
The Braves are truly laughable. Wow…
I put the question, “How do major league baseball teams manage to go on team wide slumps for extended periods?” on the same level as “what is the meaning of life?”
August 24th, 201212:29 am
Uggla cleaning it up on the bases tonight too. All around great game.
with this poor game I’m good with it too, gotta get some entertainment value
All the prognosticators on here a couple of weeks ago who were prophesying and saying this 10 game stretch would reveal the true status and finish for the Braves should be aware of your answer now. After tonight it’s 2-5 with 3 games to go. Even if the Braves were to get “lucky” on the last 3 it would still be no better than 5-5. I believe we all need to accept the hand that fate has dealt ATL once again. Even the wildcard is a long shot! Long live the Emperor, Mr. Fredi Jesus Gonzalez, otherwise known as the “wizard of baseball”.
August 24th, 201212:30 am
3 things I would prefer to never have to see: Rosie O’donnell naked, Dan Uggla period, Brian McCann trying to throw a runner out.
Ok, #1 – no thank you. #2 – still think he will figure it out (not this year probably, or not in time). But #3, McCann isn’t at fault for ANY SB that is taken when Hanson is pitching. A cannon couldn’t have thrown out the runners tonight.
I just don’t trust this team. At least I won’t be that disappointed if they miss the playoffs again. You have to believe this when they showed everybody last year they’re very capable of ripping hearts. Not mine though.
I was not posting that as an excuse- just that it is a legitimate thing and it really doesn’t matter how often you travel to the west coast (and they have not been here for a while)- your body still needs time to adjust. And believe it or not, the last time the Braves left the Eastern Time Zone was May and the only time they were in the Western Time Zone was April
well cab, i gues all those other teams that rip zito at pac bell did no fly west.
A bit of reality.
If our 3/4 consistent hitters don’t hit – we lose.
How many teams win with 2 position players hitting below 210 and another about 220.
Really remarkable we are sitting as well as we are
This game and the way the Braves have played of late is no fun, yet I (and most of us) continue to watch. Interesting.
August 24th, 201212:31 am
one more error and we will match our hit total…that would be a new level of incompetence that would absolutely deserve a cap tipping
Hanson sure isn’t helping his trade value…. might get non-tendered instead
Hanson may want to work on throwing with a different delivery style, IMO. Well, just an adjustment to his arm angle.
These guys in the booth really make me miss the sardonic, cynical humor of Skip Caray and Pete Van Wieren. On the nights when the Braves were stinking it up, those two were freakin hilarious together – Pete playing the straight man and Skip laying on the dry wit and cutting remarks.
August 24th, 201212:33 am
With Uggla and McCann as veteran leaders next season maybe Dr. Phil can become team adviser.
There have GOT to be internal issues on this team for these slumps to occur — it really appears the young guys don’t buy into Gonzalez.
That’s why you’ve got to hand it to Medlen, he was screwed with and is shoving it right up Gonzalez’s ass.
Where did I ever say anything like that? I was simply pointing out that saying people don’t suffer from jet lag because the West Coast is 3 hours behind is the exact opposite of what jet lag is. And it is real. Nothing more. Not as an excuse or a reason for the team struggling tonight.
Threw 52 strikes in 94 pitches.
Horrible…. I think our 5-man rotation is set, send Tommy to the ‘pen.
Ugly night at the plate tonight…. so inconsistent, I mean we hit we last night.
IlliniBrave – but if you wait, Chip will do that lame impression of his Dad shortly. I miss that too. Because I was living out of “Braves Country” for over 20 years – I only kept in touch w/my Braves via TBS. Loved listening to Skip – Chip not so much.
Largesse Outweighs Urbanity
Do you really STILL think they let Fredo make out this lineup card? Fredo doesn’t look like he could complete the Palookaville Post Crossword Puzzle and yet you still believe he makes out this ENTIRE card. He is told by Frank Wren that a guy making 13,000,000 a year or 80,000 a game that he WILL play him and I mean No Matter What. Frank Wren made a fool of himself with this particular acquisition–he is usually great—-but he does not like being wrong. So obviously he can’t be wrong about Uggla and Uggla will hit because Wren acquired him to hit. Anybody not believing what I just wrote must accept the alternative that Fredo Gonzalez may be even sillier than the image projected in the dugout. After nearly 300 games of this garbage, nobdy would be allowed to put up these numbers. Agreed??
