Wouldn’t have mattered anyway if Uggla stayed at third.
Another missed opportunity…. sigh
i see the struggling offense also made the flight from washington …. that’s nice
August 23rd, 201210:51 pm
Uggla is a waste of space.
more wasted early opportunities that will likely come back to haunt us.
And did anyone think that inning would end any differently, even after the two loads got on base?
Wow – seems like the Braves are trying to find new ways NOT to score. Four baserunners, two innings, nothing to show for it, yet. Trying to stay positive.
Braves need to replace a fuel injector. That’s some rough idling here in the first two innings.
August 23rd, 201210:53 pm
They need to adjust that RISP stat – McCann on 2nd is not a “runner in scoring position” unless the ball is hit over the fence. JNick
Good one JNick!
The A Bomb
Hanson hits like he wants to go to the American League. Let’s accommodate him.
More high-pressure pitches ahead.
Hello everyone…..other post was a mess up—Uggla got pegged…..can anyone give me the reason why?
nolie: I don’t know exactly what they can get Bonds on, but anything that involves him using steroids and denying their use is fine by me…. would need to do some research to find the exact “crime”
As punchless as the Braves line up is lately, the Giants’ lineup is really puny.
BRAVES HAVE THE WORSE HITTING PITCHERS OF ALL TIME
R U KIDDING ME??
TRADE THIS BUM AND BOURNE
TYPICAL CHOKE JOB
August 23rd, 201210:54 pm
Sorry base running whether Bourn gets a hit or not.
Cinemax Late Night
Dan should take Chipper out and introduce him to some of his film friends in his last visit to San Francisco.
August 23rd, 201210:56 pm
Damn, that was a hard hit double….
Their catcher had a .261 avg. and a .270 OBP….. that’s Juan Francisco level bad with the lack of walks.
UGGLA HAS A HIT HOW MANY DOES MAN CRUSH CHIPPER HAVE?
Loves me some Gregor Blanco … playing for the other guys.
Capt Mudd – Insanity – doing the same thing over and over, while expecting a different result.
Defines Dan Uggla….and Fredi too – “we’ll just keep running him out there….”
DOB has to ask TOUGHER Questions!
Folks, you have to just understand that this team is full of holes. You have to tip your cap at that. Holes can be something that is useful in certain occasions. But in a professional team, they are not.
Tip your cap to the Bravos for not dragging this out. Tip your cap to the Braves for bringing in Bobby Cox without the great pitching. Tip your cap to the Bravos for not hiring a manager like Davie Johnson or the ilk who believe in discipline and old school baseball. If you folks continue to feel sorry or apathy towards the Bravos, you won’t be tipping caps anymore. And tipping caps is what is all about!
Babes In Toyland
Dan probably has more film acquaintances in LA.
August 23rd, 201210:57 pm
As punchless as the Braves line up is lately, the Giants’ lineup is really puny
And the Giants lineup was worse in 2010! Yet they won a world series…. admittedly, their pitching is better than ours.
HEYWARD CATCHES THAT BALL
put The Rev back in a second. i’m liking this Reed Johnson kid.
August 23rd, 201210:59 pm
Call him off next time you get the chance please
Hanson pitched well that inning – definitely hitting Mac’s glove on just about every pitch. And he’s not drenched in sweat yet, must be the arctic temps San Fran is known for.
I Can't Define Uggla But I Know It When I See It
Does Dan know Mark Wahlberg??
August 23rd, 201211:00 pm
33 PITCHES AFTER 2 FOR HANSEN
MUST HAVE A DATE WITH CHIPPER AFTER THE GAME AND WANTS TO GET READY EARLY
I would’ve preferred Bourn to catch that ball…. but it turned out okay.
yeah they let the worst fielder catch the ball
August 23rd, 201211:01 pm
Why all these film references to Uggla? Is he starting a movie career?
August 23rd, 201211:02 pm
CHIPPER NEEDS TO STOP THINKING ABOUT ZIMMERMAN ALL THE TIME
MAYBE HE WILL BE ABLE TO KEEP A WOMAN
Long time Braves fan in San Francisco
Zito’s pitches look terrible live……we should be raking him.
Talking to a recent college graduate from Atlanta who moved out here two months ago. She’s a big Chipper fan. FYI….she’s freaking hot!
August 23rd, 201211:03 pm
Why all these film references to Uggla? Is he starting a movie career?
Had a ‘dalliance’ w/a porn star in AZ last year or two years ago – a woman ‘employed’ by his new agent – her job was to entice Athletes to use the new agents services.
Wife found out, girl went public.
August 23rd, 201211:04 pm
I’m trying to visualize Chipper and Dan partying in the Embarcadero. Hell, it’s Chipper’s last trip to the City by the Bay.
Rob – here’s the link to a story about it:
August 23rd, 201211:05 pm
There are days when I wonder how much different things would have been if we weren’t so lucky and Todd Van Poppel decided to sign with the Braves.
August 23rd, 201211:07 pm
up in the air is not good in this park
Be careful how you spell “public”, this is a family blog.
can of cornnnnnnn.
Yup. Homer happy again in the moist air. Go Fredi Go!
Why is it so hard to hit batting practice fastballs?
August 23rd, 201211:08 pm
Seriously. The maturity level of some folks is astoundingly low.
August 23rd, 201211:10 pm
Looks like Zito is settling down.
Ignore is an option CAB – All caps, easy to do
I’m glad he didn’t, though. We probably never would have ended up with Chipper.
Hinske is getting no playing time at all. Have the Braves just filed him away to the bench?
Looks like Zito settling down.
sorry that’s 2 cans of corn.
August 23rd, 201211:12 pm
Easier said than done sometimes
August 23rd, 201211:13 pm
cab, not worth responding.
I am drinking wine. I am not getting drunk. And I am not posting ridiculous comments on the blog.
That was awful.
Wasn’t he 0-2
Do the Braves pitchers lead the league in walks after a 0-2 count??
need to finish off 0-2 counts Tommy
From 0-2 to a BB???? C’mon. Now we gotta go through watching him try to hold him at first.
August 23rd, 201211:14 pm
cab, not worth responding to the next one I have a feeling you would like to respond to.
Great throw. Awful pitching mechanics.’
Don’t know how Hanson made the big club with these game-killing mechanics.
0-2 double without swinging!
August 23rd, 201211:15 pm
I see Hanson strikes again with his patented 0-2 count turning into a walk.
August 23rd, 201211:16 pm
Hanson isn’t doing bad. Not great, but not bad, either.
August 23rd, 201211:17 pm
Is it just me or do Hanson’s and Zito’s innings seem to take forever?
August 23rd, 201211:18 pm
On Hanson. Totally.
That run all on Hanson from the walk, the stolen base, and the hanging curve.
cab, you’re arguing with someone that has an IQ of a paramecium. It’s not worth it.
Z has never been a quick worker, and neither has Tommy, so it’s not you
Well, guess that BB/double hurt Tommy there. Not a bad pitch, he just went up and got it.
0-2 Run scored – Down 1-0
“Hanson isn’t doing bad. Not great, but not bad, either”
this is pretty much your typical Hanson start: in and out of trouble, maybe gives up a run or so, tries to keep the team within striking distance
I know. I tried to stop…
August 23rd, 201211:19 pm
And the 0-2 turns into a run.
Anybody on that team but pagan would have been out there. Nice play by Prado. Hanson hung thatmone
Tommy’s not much fun to watch these days.
August 23rd, 201211:20 pm
Hanson is just so frustrating.
Hmmm, exactly, The funny thing is that he was better than Medlen in AAA, but the tables have turned once they reached the MLB.
Wow, it looks like Pence pulled badly off of that pitch.
Now that was a nice breaking ball
August 23rd, 201211:21 pm
Aren’t the elementary school-aged kids supposed to be in bed now? And the inmates off the computers?
Hanson is the only person who could make someone shut off a no-hitter or perfect game. Guy is just awful to watch pitch.
I sure think about that commercial a lot where the catcher on the girls softball team blocks the plate and tags the runner out.
Will Fredi let Hanson go more than 100 pitches tonght? With a 6 man rotation, he should let the starters stretch themselves out a bit…at least 110 pitches, provided they’re not throwing batting practice.
August 23rd, 201211:22 pm
TOBF, it’s one person changing monikers. Possibly a regular, just trying to get a rise outta folk.
Wow. After have a root canal with Hanson we now get the colonoscopy up 2nd this inning.
August 23rd, 201211:23 pm
Imagine if Hanson ever threw a no-hitter, it’d take him 210 pitches to do it.
I don’t really see what is so awful about watching Tommy pitch
Agree…. he might be gone next year though.
August 23rd, 201211:24 pm
I agree, even when Hanson’s pitch repertoire was much more dominant he had a great deal of trouble putting hitters and away and subsequently pitching deep into games. Also, he went through that stretch a few years ago where he was pretty good and was pitching well, but the Braves rarely provided him with run support which made those games frustrating and difficult to watch.
Freeman’s at bats are getting better and better!
August 23rd, 201211:25 pm
Unbelievable….we’re making Zito look like Cy Young!
“I don’t really see what is so awful about watching Tommy pitch”
Every single, walk, or basically anybody gets on base with any kind of speed at all is going to take second base on Tommy. Almost automatically puts a runner in scoring position.
nolie, it just hurts watching his pitching mechanics. Granted, he has changed them, but it still looks like he needs to work on his elbow angle.
I don’t know noles, I just don’t enjoy it. Takes forever and he seems to labor a lot lately. First time I’ve seen him pitch in a while though so might just be my imagination.
August 23rd, 201211:26 pm
An ignore button and a log-in system would be real nice….
Imagine if Hanson ever threw a no-hitter, it’d take him 210 pitches to do it
I don’t like the fact that he seems like he’s behind all thr time and bounces about half of his pitches.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
