nolie – thanks, didn’t know that
Was that Italians and Mold? Hearing buzz tonight in both
August 22nd, 20129:48 pm
be careful with werth here. VERY careful
If Medlen gets one more out in the 7th, it will mark 2 starts in a row that he’s gone 7+ IP and allowed 0 ER.
Wanna know how many times Tommy Hanson has done that?
September 3rd & September 9th…… OF 2009!!!!
Once last year in July he went 7+ IP allowing only 1 ER or less in both.
That’s pretty much it.
2-0 ain’t enough most likely….
August 22nd, 20129:49 pm
throw a friggin ball now!
Every Janish throw seems to hit Freddy right in front of his chest. The guy can play.
Still gotta get Werth though. LOL
August 22nd, 20129:50 pm
Medlen is awesome
Yes! Go Kris!!!!!
Sit yo’ ho self down, Jayson with a y.
no other words to say it. just a ballsy effort by medlen. outstanding
Mr. Werth just caught a fine there – can’t throw your helmet when you’re having a tantrum.
Kris Medlen – just an AMAZING job tonight. Good pitching WILL shut down good hitting I guess.

If Medlen isn’t a big part of our rotation plans next year, the Braves are hopeless
Bounce, bounce………..bounce wait till they start putting that special communication device in those hats….that one would have cost 3K
August 22nd, 20129:52 pm
103 pitches from Medlen through seven….Venters was up in the pen….Kimbrel hasn’t had a save since Aug. 3, by the way
Sure would take a little of the pressure off if the Braves could get a couple more runs right here. Don’t want the pen to even sniff blowuing such a well pitched gmae by Meds.
Is the Chipper, wife to separate link to the right still necessary AJC?
Take it down please. Good grief.
The A Bomb
Time to send him back to Gwinnett to become a reliever.
I don’t think the Braves have anywhere near enough payroll money to sign enough pitchers to put Medlen back in the pen. It’d probably be about $100M for five aces right? He’s just that good
August 22nd, 20129:53 pm
Lil' Barry Bailout
One of the radio announcers (the one who isn’t Don Sutton) predicted that the Braves would be back in Nationals park come playoff time, and that the Braves would be up two games to none on the Nats in the playoffs.
Real bright fellow, that one.
Standing O for Kris! Loving this guy in the rotation.
August 22nd, 20129:54 pm
Medlen is amazing. That kid can pitch.
That Medlen guy is pretty decent.
If the Braves pick up the option on Hudson (you can only assume that they will)
and even Jurrjens (who I assume they will DFA)
Somebody out of that group (not named Hudson – because of 10/5 status) will get traded to help fill the void left by Chipper and Bourn leaving.
My guess is that Hanson or Delgado gets moved. Perhaps both?
They were apparently willing to move Delgado for a 2 month rental of Dempster.
They now have Maholm under contract through next year. So there is no real legit reason to believe that Wren won’t look to move Delgado to another team to fill a 3B, LF or CF void. Especially if it’s for somebody that is under control.
Might even be willing to move Teheran if it’s for a really good everyday player.
But if Medlen isn’t in this rotation until the Braves lose control of him? I’m not sure it’s the franchise I want to root for.
Now that was truly Werthless
August 22nd, 20129:55 pm
I always feel dirty watching Gross Jayson Werth
medlin is amazing. hes earned himself a spot in the rotation for sure. werth got an error…tough error but he got there and it couldnt have happend to a better guy, except Melky
August 22nd, 20129:56 pm
@Bailout……All of them are not Don Sutton
Adrian Beltre has hit 3 home runs for Texas and the game is in the 4th inning… (needless to say, the Rangers are winning)
Pale Rider GA
From the “DID YOU KNOW” Column- smUGGLA strikes out more than once every third time at bat. If he maintains his current pace, with 39 games left, he will end up with 189 K’s. So, he makes about $80,000 per strikeout this season (and he’s one of the worst 2B fielding percentage too). Nice work.
August 22nd, 20129:57 pm
Also, Beachy should be on that list too after the all-star break and certainly barring setbacks, a big part of the 2014 rotation plans.
Typical Idiot Blogger
If they take Medlen out of the rotation, I’ll hold my breath til i turn blue! And that’s a promise!
August 22nd, 20129:58 pm
Medlen has now proven he can pitch long relief….
One of them WAS Don Sutton tonight, Capt. I doubt Sutton would say something that dumb.
August 22nd, 20129:59 pm
is blue a good color for you?
and he’s one of the worst 2B fielding percentage too
Actually, Uggla is 13th in the majors in fielding percentage- better than Omar Infante, by the way…
N8, Maholm has an option for next year. Braves have not picked it up yet.
Nope — it was Powell — heard it on my phone on the way home.
The Braves might was well leave their bats in the dugout when they are facing Tom Gorzelanny.
August 22nd, 201210:00 pm
u were singing a different tune about uggla 2nd half of last season and 1st half of this season.. he might turn it around. he is simply too far out front. he has that unbelievably light bat and when you start being out front, that light bat makes it WORSE. I wish he would go to a much heavier bat until he works this out…..that would slow his swing down and keep him back a little longer by doing so…been there dont that myself
Typical Idiot Blogger….
A great name!
I don’t want the bad pitchers in our rotation! I want the good ones! That’s my expert analysis! You’re welcome!
August 22nd, 201210:01 pm
nats might as well leave their bats in the dugout rest of this game
Honestly if it calls for it here the robot needs to go to Kimbrel.
There is very little doubt the Braves will pick up the options on both Huddy & Maholm for next year
August 22nd, 201210:02 pm
Hey Chicago what-a-you say……..
Wow. Maybe that’s why Reed Johnson doesn’t play every day…
lets not lose composure here bravos…
take care of business. shoulda been an easy out normally
Medlen has 5 starts now:
7/31 – 5 innings, 1ER
8/5 – 6 IP, 1ER
8/11 – 7 IP, 1ER
8/16 – 9 IP, 0ER
8/22 – 7 IP, 0ER
I think the young man is good. Not sure, have to check against some of the ACE pitchers in the league, I’ll get back to it.
Way to go, Reed….
August 22nd, 201210:03 pm
That hair thing on Johnson’s face got in the way of his glove.
This is a save situation right now. Ridiculous.
There’s no such thing as a big game to the alleged field commander.
It can’t ever be easy.
CA Braves Fan- a quick check at MLB.com stats has smUGGLA 19th in FP for 2B in the major leagues- guess whose 20th? Noone- they stop at 19!
If Meds isn’t in the starting 5, I’m not watching this team anymore. I think the battle comes down to Sheets vs Hanson, with the edge going to Sheets. I feel only slightly more confident in Hanson’s ability to pitch effectively right now than I do in Jurrjens.
August 22nd, 201210:04 pm
Crap. I hope we can hold them here.
are you saying they will not pick them both up Cab?
Listed at 13 there
need a dp here…one more hit, take him out
At least Reed fielded that one….
“N8, Maholm has an option for next year. Braves have not picked it up yet.”
Rick C, the option WILL be picked up. It’s for 6.75 million bucks. If for nothing else it will be picked up to trade him. But make no mistake about it. The Braves will exercise their right to “control” Maholm this winter.
August 22nd, 201210:05 pm
nobody uses fielding %
Columbus- did you get paid $15/mil/year?
I apologize..@Bailout, correction duly noted; thanks sir!
come on eric OOOOOO!
Bring Kimmeh in.
I believe I said the exact opposite
stepped away for a moment and……………..
Just like that, the margin of error shirks greatly. Meds’ well pitched game in jepordy.
come on eric….get him out
August 22nd, 201210:06 pm
Reed Johnson Is No Good!
please don’t screw up Meds start bullpen
Only the MLB uses FP so we should discount it- what should we use?
come on EOF. Cannot have a bullpen implosion tonight
August 22nd, 201210:07 pm
I miss 2011 EOF.
fingers crossed for Meds-the gentleman has done so well
NOBODY warming up??? Really???
Come on Fredi it’s not against the law to use Kimbrel more than one inning especially since he hasn’t pitched in a while!!! Dang
That link didn’t go where I had hoped- go to 2nd basemen and click FPCT.
(nolie, you are right about Fielding percentage, but he was still incorrect)
yeah….hinske and diaz are better than johnson ROFL
And the hits just keep on coming.
How is it that Medlen can’t escape this ridiculous notion that he is not a starting pitcher. All he does is dominate when he is in the rotation, yet some continue to think of him as more of a reliever. Right now Medlen is the best starting pitcher on our team and if we get into a one game wild card playoff I want him on the mound.
Thank you Mr Janish.
a pitchers best friend.
