Bench Uggla — he just hasn’t produced and we got the new guy in the trade who’s hitting around .300. If McCann is hurt, he needs to get well. Ross is healthy, hitting just under .260 and is better defensively than the ailing McCann. Seems like a no brainer with the Bravos on the ropes, but Fredi F—Up will send these losers out again. Hard to beat a team with the Nationals staff when 3 of your hitting starters — Uggla, McCann and Janish — can’t hit at all, with questionable performances from many of the others. Bourn, our “franchise” leadoff man, has over 120 strikeouts in about 450 at bats. Doesn’t help jump start the offense at if your fastest player doesn’t put the ball in play over 25% of the time. It doesn’t really matter how well our starters or bullpen perform. The Nats have enough horses in their lineup to produce 2-3 runs, which is more than adequate to dispatch the Braves on most nights with their superior staff.
I agree with all. On one side I think BMac and Uggla will get out of it. But I also think that ABs should be split, kind of a platoon (I know Pastor and Uggla are both RH) see if we can get more production. I think Fredi has to think outside the box and tonight’s lineup is a good start.

Not the kind of lineup that strikes fear in the opposing pitchers, but a much needed lineup tonight. I think the boppers need more than this one day of “rest”, but I’m glad to see Fredi going this way this evening.
“Scuffling a little bit” has to be the understatement of the year. Uggla is no longer scuffling, he just plain sucks. At least McCann has an excuse for his ineptitude of late.
Also, why are you guys consistently quoting Chipper after games in which he does not even play. He is not the manager. I’d much rather hear from McCann and Uggla as to why their approach in the 9th last night was so poor.

Can we just drop the whole “go to hell” thing? It’s like listening to the 4 year old and the 6 year old argue over who forgot to let the dog out… in the end it doesn’t matter, it’s just another stinky pile of crap to avoid until Mrs Murph gets home and picks it up.
To answer the question you asked, perhaps of me, several times, AT…
Playing Ross and Johnson is not necessarily worse on any given day. But over a course of more than a game here and there, Ross and Johnson at their best are not nearly as good as McCann and Uggla at their best. We need McCann and Uggla at their best.
Not thrilled with Rev starting, but I know Janish needs a day off sometimes.
Except that it’s Uggla who has the day off…. you know, the guy who needs to go to hell…. you must be happy to see him out the lineup.
My mistake, I glanced at the lineup and assumed Pastornicky was spelling Janish. As for the rest, I’ll, again, chalk that up to your youth and forgive your constant rudeness.
Brian from SC, I wasn’t suggesting to bench them indefinitely but I think about a week off could do them both some good. Like you said, we’re going to need them. Let’s get them healthy or at least healthier.
I think a week is too long, AT. A day is good…two maybe. But sitting a healthy major leaguer with a track record of success for a week is making quite a bold statement about that player. I don’t think the Braves are there yet with these guys.
Can we just drop the whole “go to hell” thing? It’s like listening to the 4 year old and the 6 year old argue over who forgot to let the dog out… in the end it doesn’t matter, it’s just another stinky pile of crap to avoid until Mrs Murph gets home and picks it up.
Once this crowd fixates on something, they can’t seem to let it go until the next unwitting person says something they can latch on to so they can affirm their holier-than-thou self-images. A good shrink could do wonders around here.
Well, nolie, you might be right, but its only been in the last few years that I’ve heard it used regularly to describe a struggling player. Schneid, on the other hand, I’ve always heard. Schneid, by the way, appears in the wikipedia baseball glossary, but scuffle does not. (scuffle, should be listed right after “screwball.”)
Maybe I’ve averse to scuffle because it’s one of Joe Simpson’s favorite descriptions. That should be reason enough to object to its use.
It would be different if, for example, the Braves had acquired Josh Willingham at the deadline. To sit Uggla in favor of him is one thing. But to sit him for a week in favor of Reed Johnson or Tyler Pastornicky? You have to hope Uggla gives you a better chance than those guys.
You’re one to talk. You’ve spent the better part of an entire day “defending your honor” to a bunch of faceless usernames on a web site. I’m not saying you’re right or wrong, but I sure do wish you’d stop responding to every perceived insult and just let it go.
Once this crowd fixates on something, they can’t seem to let it go until the next unwitting person says something they can latch on to so they can affirm their holier-than-thou self-images. A good shrink could do wonders around here.
If you don’t like the way it is around here, then please leave. No one will miss you and your negativity. I mean, this blog has less of good regular posters because of the people like you, Brava. Not me. You. This is pretty easy to see. As easy as it was to see that Jose Constanza is a 5th outfielder.
At least I have the courage to use the same moniker all the time unlike many of the cowards here. And, no, I’m not accusing anyone of doing what I do myself. Again, comb these blogs, I’ve been here for over three years. Find me ONE instance where I attacked anyone unprovoked. I’ll be here waiting.
you attack somebody unprovoked evey day you come, and you do it over and over and over. The difference whether a player or a poster, you’re just a hypocrite
Interesting lineup. Need to get Bourn out for a game. Uggla and McCann need to sit for a couple of days (This is no-duh but I wanted to add something). Now we just wait and see.
I’m sort of thinking the same thing. His last four starts were against mediocre offensive teams. Hoping he can put together another strong effort. We’ll need it, I’d bet.
You are full of crap, Further (another coward). I don’t attack players every time I come here, in fact, I very seldom do. I’m usually pretty positive and I seldom get to the point where Uggla had me night before last. I certainly don’t make personal or character attacks against them. But please, feel free to post examples of where I’m attacking players like your ilk attacks other posters.

Typical Fredi logic!
i thought that’s what Fredi did, didn’t he? off course, that won’t change the fact that Fredi is still solely responsible for starting world war one.

Uggla is not scuffling. Uggla is a bust.
McCann is not scuffling. He is legitimately injured, and thus rendered ineffective for the rest of the season.
The rest of the hitters, save for Heyward as of late? Ineffectual.
For four seasons, this is the type of lineup Frank Wren cobbles together and calls playoff-capable.
Not!
We are there now. Same as it ever was. That train is not gonna be late this year either.

2011 — Derek Lowe — You’ve got to keep running him out there.
2012 — Dan Uggla — You’ve got to keep running him out there.
After all, Frank Wren paid a boatload of money for these guys, so he’s gotta try to save face.

I will not be renewing my MLB.TV subscription for next season… unless the Braves land some really exciting players, at least.
It’s not a form of protest… just getting harder to justify 3 hours a night to watch this team play baseball. Priorities.
