Uggla’s average (league-worst .207) is terrible, but this, to me, is even more alarming: Uggla’s .369 slugging percentage is third-lowest in NL, ahead of only Cameron Maybin (.330) and Rafael Furcal (.354)

Gotta’ roll guys. It’s been fun. later.

Oh, the short-season rookie leagues are almost done [about six games left]. I’ll post up a few of the better results for hitters and pitchers in the DSL, GCL, and Rookie+ leagues soon.

So has UGGLA fallen on hard times for good, or he just hurling his bat at anything moving, and is sure to hit something hard somewhere sooner or later?

The question on everybody’s mind right now in Braves land.

Hillbilly – Check out this video I posted. Still don’t know what it was.

jeffery d – I try to stay as long as our starter. So six innings max. Though, I do fall asleep sometimes.

Bat – LOL. My life..you ask 10 times, get slapped nine times, and one yes. Kinda like Uggla’s swinging the bat.

Gosh, DOB, those Uggla stats hurt…. maybe give REV some more starts at 2B, give Uggla 2 or 3 more days to rest up.

Reading the twitter feed and seeing all the folks humming on who the Braves play if they win one of the WC spots and win the play-in game.

Cincinatti is one game back of Washington for the #1 seed. Don’t know why everyone is conceding that Nats will get the division and the best record.

Nats – Reds – Braves … best three teams in the NL.

Prado has hit .323 (20-for-62) with 11 extra-base hits vs. Nats this season, more than twice as many extra-base hits as any other ATL hitter vs. Washington in 2012.

Kind of rough that Braves have had Dodgers – Nats – Giants back to back to back. Padres aren’t as terrible as they were in the beginning of the season.

After this patch, though, it should be smooth sailing for the Bravos. September has the Nats series and that’s about it til the Pirates to end the season.

Not that I’m going to root for anybody in the Nats-Cards match up.

But, it’s hard to figure who you’d rather win.

pretty sure lots of folks had this question in mind –

from DOB tweets -

Yes. RT @JerryPatterson: @ajcbraves say braves win wild card game would they play Nats in first real round of playoffs?

Efrim … “Very true. Minors are down, it seems.”

I wonder if this has anything to do with reducing the impact of PEDs.

Average player age in MLB should going down from the height of the PED-era. Means more promotions.

Plus, PEDs may have distorted how good the minor leagues were.

they have to play each other 7 times. i was trying to think about who that is worse for. since the nats are now 6 games up on the braves, i say its worse for the cards, who are still fighting for a wild card spot and have to play the best team in the league while trying to fend off pittsburgh and either LA or SF. (maybe even the dbacks? they are still in it, only 4 games out)

personally, i think id like to keep st louis out of the one game playoff. go nats. unless the cards sweep all 7 games, giving the braves a shot to make up alot of ground. then go cards. oh, i dont know…

Braves activate Lyle Overbay on the Gwinnett roster. He’ll join Atlanta when rosters expand. Ernesto Mejia placed on Temporary Inactive List

What happened to Mejia?

Ryan (Indy)

What are your thoughts on the future of Kris Medlen? Do you think the league will catch up with him soon, and his future is ultimately in the bullpen? Or can he be a valuable middle of the rotation starter?

Klaw (1:45 PM)

Mid-rotation starter. I’m in.

Nick Ahmed? Legit SS prospect?

Klaw (1:45 PM)

Not a shortstop.

All it takes is one team to believe that and he’s a valuable trade asset. ;)

Our schedule is .001% easier than the Nats…. that should be good for about 6-7 extra wins :)

Yep. Uggla is getting on base (.339) enough to keep him afloat as not awful (92 OPS+ and 96 wRC+). His slugging is what is keeping him from being even an average offensive secondbaseman.
