Minor keeping the Braves in the game.
He deserves some support for his efforts so far.
Braves 6, 7 & 8 hitters coming up. Really need some offense this inning.
The A Bomb
Yeah….replace THAT in center next season and keep the injury-plagued catcher who plays 4-5 days a week, has inconsistent vision and shoulder issues.
And the caveman 2nd baseman who swings like Buford Pusser busting windows. That’s the ticket.
August 19th, 20122:59 pm
well, just hit a bunch of homers and all is excused…maybe if he was hitting 50, Id give u that…but his homer production isnt superb enough to offset his average
I am really tired of Luis Cruz and I am really tired of seeing the Dodgers hit homeruns in this series.
It does appear from the comments from management that pitchers and position players PT evaluation is much different.
Wish the position guys had to earn and keep their spots
August 19th, 20123:00 pm
What about his .350 OBP?
Minor last few starts
July 23rd vs Marlins 7 innings 2 ER he lost…….
July 28th vs Phillies 8 inning 1 ER barely won…. (2-1)
Aug 7th vs Phillies 7 innings 3 ER he lost….
Aug 13th vs Padre’s 6 innings 3 ER he lost…..
Today 5 innings 1 ER were losing…
They don’t support Minor
August 19th, 20123:01 pm
Mark Unfortunately, Fredi likes to look at the back of a guys baseball card (position players) and for pitchers, it seems more of what have you done for me lately?
I’d like to see position players have to earn the right to start too. I think we’d see a couple of changes right about now, regardless of salary.
August 19th, 20123:02 pm
More great at-bats from Braves hitters.
Thats why he needs to be hitting 2nd.
Buford Pusser analogy was funny
August 19th, 20123:03 pm
From where Uggla’s hitting in the lineup his golden .350 OBP means less and less and less.
How many pitches did he have to throw that inning? 5
Really made him work there.
August 19th, 20123:04 pm
The offense is really impressive.
The offense has evaporated over the past few games.
why would you move Prado who is a great 2nd hitter for Uggla thus giving one of your worst hitters more at bats?
Braves record against .500 or better teams this year 25-28. It’s a good thing Arizona is still above .500. The good news is we play our next 7 games against two above .500 teams. Not including today’s game.
August 19th, 20123:05 pm
In their line-up today the Braves have 4 “easy” outs and no team can win that way. I understand you can have a short stop that does defense and you take his offense when you get it. But you CANNOT have a catcher and a second baseman joining the pitcher to make 4 easy outs at the bottom of he batting order and beat any team with remotely decent pitching. McCann needs to shut up, sit down and get better. Ugla needs to sit beside him in the dug out, move Prado to second and put Johnson in left. At least we might get hits from Ross or Johnson or we will lose at least 7 of the upcoming games on the road and start the treck towards a repeat of last year when McCann could not hit, but no one sat him down.
OBP is important anywhere
August 19th, 20123:06 pm
Take Minor out of the rotation in September, regardless of how well he does we don’t score for him.
Braves have scored only 21 runs in Minor’s last 7 starts. Minor has allowed 12 ER in that same span. BUT we lost 4 out of the 7 games.
You’re right, getting on base isn’t that big of a deal
Walker’s just got to shake his head sometimes. Freeman, Uggla, McCann — when they get in the mindset of trying to hit the ball 500 feet this team loses consistently.
Like to see those 3 — maybe even throw in Francisco — take a Wunderlich test.
August 19th, 20123:07 pm
actually Dan is not technically an “easy out” he makes fewer than several others on the team Don, not that you could grasp that
Braves won the game started by the lefty, and struggle for runs against the 2 righties.
August 19th, 20123:08 pm
I mean, he only leads NL 2B in HR. And leads the Braves in HR since he came over. Nothing screams “BUST” more than hitting a bunch of dingers
And he also leads the world in failure. Keep on digging and maybe you’ll find something that’ll make you all warm an fuzzy about Uggla being on this team and draining the budget of resources.
Actually have to give Minor credit tho for this outing bc this Dodgers lineup is no joke
The last thing I want to do is over-extend my critical senses–however, it just appears to me that when we play a ‘top calibre team,’ we struggle…..everytime it seems. And also, I just don’t feel–outside of Chipper—we have many guys with an air of confidence…..i.e., no real greatness. Of course JeyHey and Prado are special…..I think you guys know where I’m coming from in general.
August 19th, 20123:09 pm
I’m nearly positive the Braves won’t get out.
Well it’s nice watching Minor continue to pitch well in losing efforts. Give the man some support! Damn!

Minor has pitched well so far
August 19th, 20123:11 pm
Danny’s needs a defensive swing to add to his repertois of offensive swings
Minor has shaken off Mac’s pitch calls quite a few times.
He’s pitching extremely well, three or four bad pitches.
Needs some offensive help, fortunately he leads off this inning.
Because the Braves management insist on playing him and regardless of he is 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th he has left more than his share of runners.
Why not let him try and draw his walk and get driven in which could happen rather than having him in an rbi spot and having to drive in others, which hasn’t happened nearly enough.
The 2 hitter may hit once more than the bottom. Thats it.
My solution would not be my choice but I’m trying to give a solution that includes Uggla because obviously he isn’t going to have to sit in favor of someoine else.
Minor is pitching fantastic
August 19th, 20123:12 pm
VaBravesFan — I’m assuming your 3:06 was sarcastic …
In Minors previous 7 starts he’s pitched 44 innings with a 2.45 ERA (Only 12 ER) But has lost 4 of those starts. Braves only able to score 21 runs for him over that stretch. The trend continues.
Today 6 Innings 1 ER, but same results so far. In line for the Loss.
August 19th, 20123:13 pm
sticky wicket eh
Third time through the order – time to get busy.
August 19th, 20123:14 pm
Hit and run!!!!
You seem miserable, Jerry.
Pay that man!!!
Good to see Michael running there
Thanks for sliding feet first, Michael.
Great slide by Bourn
Good job getting him over, Martin!
August 19th, 20123:15 pm
Ugh, ‘teen ‘teen.
Time for the J-Hey Train to come through.
Curve in the dirt
We are not scoring runs anymore.
Uggla messed up stranding two LOB after the Heyward triple got some energy in the crowd.
Than, Freddie takes a W and then that disgraceful BUMB Uggla mucks it up, this team cannot socre runs and they are losers and BUMBS again.
Uggla sucks, he is the worst player in the history of the league. I’d rather have Janish at the plate than Uggla. Jansih is a better hitter than Uggla.
August 19th, 20123:16 pm
My bad, I lost track of the number of outs
J H swing looks so much better than it did
August 19th, 20123:17 pm
Minor is running into the same kind of tough luck that Tommy Hanson had in 2010 when he could not buy a W and was better than the 10-11 record he had.
And BTW leading 2nd basemen in homers is an overrated stat since 2nd base is NOT an offensive/power position by any means. Big deal.
He does get on base through walks but you really think that’s what he makes that MASSIVE paycheck for? We want him to bat 4th between Heyward and Freeman and it’s an epic fail so far.
Disgusted, does Uggla deserve to be booed?
August 19th, 20123:18 pm
Two hits through 6 innings.
For a team that was scoring about 4.5 runs a game?
Only one run down, hope Minor can keep pitching strong – gonna need it.
Best offense in baseball.
Another LOB and this team is getting SOed today.
They deserve to be Booed and are a bunch of BUMBS. No one around here can hit with men on base. Disgraceful.
September of 2011 comming a week and a half early????????? It is not good right now.
When’s the last time Bourn tried to swipe third?
August 19th, 20123:19 pm
Trey — Yes, Uggla deserves to be both Booed and sent to the guillotine.
Worse yet: If the Nats get washed out we’ll see Gonzalez tomorrow. Yippeeee!
This is laughable, if Minor was to get rocked today for 7 or 8 runs I bet the Braves would have put 5 runs up for him…
August 19th, 20123:20 pm
What about battery day at the park, Disgusted? or bottled beer?
I forgot how many drama queens we had here
Minor is just a loser, I think that’s it.
If Uggla got sent to the guillotine the executioner would need a microscope to find his Jethro Bodine brain.
FCS, are we gonna have another inane bitching session about the freaking attendance?
Get a damn life idiots.
If they stop bitchin, there will be one less thing on the blog for me to laugh at. People sitting at home watching on TV and blogging about poor attendance. It’s hilarious.
August 19th, 20123:21 pm
Hey VaBravesFan – what are your thoughts on Minor’s run support?
WHAT A PLAY! YAY!
Too bad that Minor is pitching is such tough luck, he has really worked to straighten his season out, got better and these BUMBS must drill donut holes in their bats when he pitches.
Its not good and the Braves are now BUMBS again.
Nice play on D, Dan. It doesn’t make up for the first pitch pop-out, however.
lol…alright Dan..gotta give you that one
August 19th, 20123:22 pm
Trey — MD 20/20 bottle day would be more appripriate when Uggla hits.
Uggla is the MD 20/20 of hitting
1) I think you’re thinking of an x-ray. Microscopes, while useful in science, can’t see through things.
2) Why would an executioner look at somebody’s brain?
August 19th, 20123:23 pm
even if they are lucky enough to go to the playoffs this game will be a preview of whatever series they are in…..no offense at all.
Its good to see J Hey crafting his game instead of gaming his craft
I’m surprised how well Minor has pitched today. Hopefully they can score before he gets taken out.
If Uggs had to perform his own execution he’d miss his neck!
August 19th, 20123:24 pm
Disgusted is obsessed with bumbs. There’s another word for that, of course.
His run support is a absolute joke as I’ve pointed out my last few post. Minor is the best loser I’ve seen in quite a while.
Oh okay, VaBravesFan….I wasn’t sure what your opinion was. Carry on.
August 19th, 20123:25 pm
This is a must win game and they have to get it done, its up to them.
Nifty D in the 7th, not Minor deserves some runs.
Great game Mike, and you deserve to have these bumbs score runs and not lead the universe in LOB.
RBIS > LOB.
August 19th, 20123:26 pm
Some runs would be nice.
August 19th, 20123:27 pm
jeffrey — point is, when it would fall out of his massive head it wouldn’t be visible to the naked eye.
jeffrey d, your subtlety is lost upon us knuckleheads…
I don’t think brains just fall out of heads…
Cisco is your third baseman for 2013 and that will not be a bad thing.
Warm up to him cause he has worked his way to earning a job and the OBP will get a bit better.
I say he can do a .320 to .340 OBP, the kid is working hard to improve his game.
August 19th, 20123:28 pm
I am mad at Uggla for those 2 LOB. Missed opportunity though he did make a good D play in the 7th.
August 19th, 20123:29 pm
No but if it was THAT small it probably couldn’t be held in. Probably wouldn’t know for sure unless it occurred.
But I do agree – He is a massive BUMB and I’m presently BOOING.
August 19th, 20123:30 pm
Sad that Minor has fought his ass off today and his team hasn’t been able to help him out. Of course, Billingsley deserves some credit for that.
IIRC Billingsley did this to us on Sunday Night Baseball a few years back,
August 19th, 20123:31 pm
hit one out Uggla
Freeman is having a bad series and deserves to be Booed.
He is a BUMB now.
Uggla’s at-bats are now covered under the 8th Amendment. Sue the Braves.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
