As I said a blog or two ago, sheets looks tired out there and his fastball is flat. Give him a 2 week rest on the dl for dead arm so hopefully he can be fresh for the stretch run
Got in from fishing and then cleaning fish. Just in time to see Yawnish walk last time. Really didn’t understand why he was hitting there. We had 4 outs to go down by 4 runs and I wondered why isn’t someone hitting for him here? Figured we were out of hitters.
Then I read back and see we had Mac on the bench – Not healthy but still better than Yawnish and Francisco at the dish.
4 outs to go with 2 guys on, down by 5 and we let a 200 hitting defensive specialist hit and then we hit Flabby before Mac?
Somebody tell me I missed something and there is a good reason for all that please.
in Minor’s last 2 starts, he put the team in an early hole against 2 really good pitchers and they lost. Can’t afford to do that tomorrow against Billingsley and expect to win this series
Janish looks better than Alex Gonzalez did at any point during his agonizing Braves career. Guy needs to be back next season as the backup middle infielder. He’s damn solid.
Mark Bowman @mlbbowman
Braves lose 6-2. Each of the game’s nine hits went for extra-bases. Harang allowed one run while throwing 58 of 116 pitches for strikes.
We are our own worst enemy. No reason that game couldn’t have been closer. We probably would have still lost but the approach was pretty bad. I would love to hear that Sheets would skip his next start to make some adjustments.
Since Uggla is being paid $13 million a year to lead the league in walks, why not bat him 2nd, so he’ll be on base when the actual hitters come to the plate.
“Since Uggla is being paid $13 million a year to lead the league in walks, why not bat him 2nd, so he’ll be on base when the actual hitters come to the plate.”
What to do with McCann whose making a little over $11 million this year with similar production of Uggla?
I really wish the Braves in general didn’t K so much. Free outs just kill me but I know some people, somehow, don’t care about how much hitters K but I hate it.
Chipper is the only Brave close to having more BBs than Ks. Not sure now but a while back he was plus in BBs over Ks. Think he is for his career. Wish some of the guys killing the grass walking back and forth to the plate would take a page out of his book! We’d be better
Agree with you and said it myself weeks ago. If they insist on Uggla playing he’d serve the team better hitting 2 and maybe getting driven in rather than having to drive others in.
Yeah, Hanley knows more than Fredi. He is the greatest player who ever lived. Just ask him. Bob Gibson, where are you when we need you. Douchebags respond to chin music. Drill ‘im
I’d be more suspicious of Fredi’s avoidance of pinch-hitting BMac tonight if it wasn’t for the fact that he generally doesn’t pinch hit the catchers, at least that’s been the case this year…
BMac’s pinch-batted a grand total of 4 times this year, Ross has 7 times.
Every time the Braves have a chance to move up, they gag. Wren’s grand experiment, Ben Sheets, has quickly morphed into a dead arm.
And again we had to endure watching that same old piddlin, inept, and effete Braves offense.
I guess he was saving the catchers and the SS in the 8th down by 5 with 4 outs remaing for us in the game.
I’d took a tie at that point. or even 3 or 4 runs, even if I knew EOF had to play SS and Reed had to catch – OK that was an exageration but you get the idea.
To prove a team can come back from a miserable first half, the Rome Braves are headed for the playoffs. That last won it all in 2003 when a couple of guys named McCann and Francoeur were playing.
Still riding the Ben Sheets Bandwagon. Four pitches that if they are off by a quarter of an inch or less on the bat are nothing more than fly balls, and Sheets carries a no-hitter into the sixth.
HOLY SHEETS BATMAN, FOUR (4) DURBINS! IF WILSON COMES BACK TO THE BRAVES WHEN HE HEALS, THEN HAVANA FATS BRAINS HAVE SPILLED OUT FROM ALL THAT CAP TIPPIN’!
Those wondering about the D.Ross-Hanley Ramirez tift Friday, Ross caught Hanley looking down at his signs. Asked what the hell he was doing. Hanley tried to say he was just getting in the box, that he needed time to get in the box. Ross told him if you need time ask for time, but don’t look at his signs. Told him it was a good way to get hurt, etc. The Dodgers TV feed showed Hanley clearly looking down to get the signs.
But Ross said tonight when I asked him about it that he didn’t have a problem otherwise with Hanley. It didn’t carry over to tonight.
I say Minor has a pretty good game tomorrow. But the Dodgers proved something tonight.
