come on lets find that earhole
August 18th, 20129:51 pm
oh well guess that works
He (Juan) tried to hit it out of the stadium!!!
Sure looked like that to me.
August 18th, 20129:52 pm
lets see if he can make loney fall down again…one of my favorite strike outs
If Francisco played every day Uggla wouldn’t have to worry about leading the team in K’s.
August 18th, 20129:53 pm
As I said a blog or two ago, sheets looks tired out there and his fastball is flat. Give him a 2 week rest on the dl for dead arm so hopefully he can be fresh for the stretch run
August 18th, 20129:54 pm
would have liked to see big mac there
ok down and in again
August 18th, 20129:56 pm
I’m not a fan, but lets not be too hard on Juan, he came through big time last night and that will not happen for anybody game after game
Uggla might strike out a lot, but he seems to “work” the count. Never seen 1 batter have so many 3-pitch Ks as I have from Juan this year…
Last chance here. Go get ‘em boys. Get it started Mikey! #CommenceTheChop
August 18th, 20129:57 pm
LOL… Uggla wouldn’t even have 1/2 of the Ks that Juan would…
August 18th, 20129:58 pm
5 run homer ties it up, lets go boys
August 18th, 201210:00 pm
August 18th, 2012
Mitchell: All I want as a blogger is for you to surprise me and not b!tch about every thing the Braves do/don’t do…
Hey, didn’t give up at least (and here come the ‘meaningless’ posts)
Just 4 more guys…. let’s go
August 18th, 201210:01 pm
Just mocking you with your previous post Mitchell.
Got in from fishing and then cleaning fish. Just in time to see Yawnish walk last time. Really didn’t understand why he was hitting there. We had 4 outs to go down by 4 runs and I wondered why isn’t someone hitting for him here? Figured we were out of hitters.
Then I read back and see we had Mac on the bench – Not healthy but still better than Yawnish and Francisco at the dish.
4 outs to go with 2 guys on, down by 5 and we let a 200 hitting defensive specialist hit and then we hit Flabby before Mac?
Somebody tell me I missed something and there is a good reason for all that please.
After reading recent post
August 18th, 201210:02 pm
Marteen only guy who wore his hitting shoes tonight
Strikeouts racking up for Heyward….
Fredi did NOT keep running Bmac out there tonight but never fear he did with Uggla.
The A Bomb
August 18th, 201210:03 pm
ZERO singles tonight.
yeah your constant whining is unoriginal and boring
The Braves with their patented meaningless homer.
in Minor’s last 2 starts, he put the team in an early hole against 2 really good pitchers and they lost. Can’t afford to do that tomorrow against Billingsley and expect to win this series
That game was terrible. Sheets appears to be victimized by two bad innings when he loses games.
August 18th, 201210:04 pm
Maybe Ramirez does know more than Fredi. Like he said Fredi doesn’t understand he never played in the big leagues.
Another K for JHey…. and nice sprinting too ( I know, I know)
Series tied, against a playoff team. Go get ‘em tomorrow boys!
Strike outs mounting for Michael Bourn as well. That guy strikes out entirely too much.
August 18th, 201210:05 pm
Janish looks better than Alex Gonzalez did at any point during his agonizing Braves career. Guy needs to be back next season as the backup middle infielder. He’s damn solid.
Where is the blog police and others who correct mistakes?
Speaking of whiners, whatever happened to Nick?
August 18th, 201210:06 pm
Mark Bowman @mlbbowman
Braves lose 6-2. Each of the game’s nine hits went for extra-bases. Harang allowed one run while throwing 58 of 116 pitches for strikes.
50/50 Balls and strikes
The A Bomb
Agreed. Watching Alex Gonzalez hit was painful. Having an OBP of .275 should be illegal.
We are our own worst enemy. No reason that game couldn’t have been closer. We probably would have still lost but the approach was pretty bad. I would love to hear that Sheets would skip his next start to make some adjustments.
August 18th, 201210:07 pm
Coulda used Rev, Reed, and BMac tonight off the bench.
Let Rev start tomorrow, Janish needs the rest
August 18th, 201210:09 pm
I will ALMOST be upset when Simmons returns — almost.
Since Uggla is being paid $13 million a year to lead the league in walks, why not bat him 2nd, so he’ll be on base when the actual hitters come to the plate.
Hugo Z Hackenbush
August 18th, 201210:12 pm
Having an OPS of .567 should be illegal…oops, that’s Janish.
Braves and Nats seem to synchronizing their losses lately. What’s up with that?
“Since Uggla is being paid $13 million a year to lead the league in walks, why not bat him 2nd, so he’ll be on base when the actual hitters come to the plate.”
What to do with McCann whose making a little over $11 million this year with similar production of Uggla?
I really wish the Braves in general didn’t K so much. Free outs just kill me but I know some people, somehow, don’t care about how much hitters K but I hate it.
Chipper is the only Brave close to having more BBs than Ks. Not sure now but a while back he was plus in BBs over Ks. Think he is for his career. Wish some of the guys killing the grass walking back and forth to the plate would take a page out of his book! We’d be better
August 18th, 201210:14 pm
Janish has played steady and spectacular defense at times. Will fill a great need down the line.
August 18th, 201210:16 pm
Agree with you and said it myself weeks ago. If they insist on Uggla playing he’d serve the team better hitting 2 and maybe getting driven in rather than having to drive others in.
August 18th, 201210:17 pm
Mark, I hate the strike outs, as well. We’ve been blessed for so long with Chipper, as he has never had a 100K season. In 95, I believe, he hit 99.
Yeah, Hanley knows more than Fredi. He is the greatest player who ever lived. Just ask him. Bob Gibson, where are you when we need you. Douchebags respond to chin music. Drill ‘im
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
I’d be more suspicious of Fredi’s avoidance of pinch-hitting BMac tonight if it wasn’t for the fact that he generally doesn’t pinch hit the catchers, at least that’s been the case this year…
BMac’s pinch-batted a grand total of 4 times this year, Ross has 7 times.
August 18th, 201210:20 pm
Every time the Braves have a chance to move up, they gag. Wren’s grand experiment, Ben Sheets, has quickly morphed into a dead arm.
And again we had to endure watching that same old piddlin, inept, and effete Braves offense.
August 18th, 201210:23 pm
I guess he was saving the catchers and the SS in the 8th down by 5 with 4 outs remaing for us in the game.
I’d took a tie at that point. or even 3 or 4 runs, even if I knew EOF had to play SS and Reed had to catch – OK that was an exageration but you get the idea.
… the SF Giants have a pitcher named E.Hacker
August 18th, 201210:26 pm
Janish’s OBP the last 7 games was over .400 (not including tonight when he got on twice).
Not saying he’s a weapon. But really, in a 6-1 game, I don’t see the sin in letting him hit, Mark. Plenty else to complain about in this game.
August 18th, 201210:27 pm
when its sleepy time down south…
August 18th, 201210:28 pm
To prove a team can come back from a miserable first half, the Rome Braves are headed for the playoffs. That last won it all in 2003 when a couple of guys named McCann and Francoeur were playing.
August 18th, 201210:29 pm
Alex Wood gave Rome a boost!
August 18th, 201210:34 pm
you are right Alex wood has been a big addition.
August 18th, 201210:35 pm
so, it is not possible for the Braves to lose a game with out being:
at least according to some of you computer “experts”
8 walks and only Bourn was able to score.
August 18th, 201210:40 pm
it is surprising how often a team loses a game following a big comeback that many folks think should get them going
McCann’s injury does not need to be underestimated. It is significant and can have some term implications based on the severity
August 18th, 201210:42 pm
Still riding the Ben Sheets Bandwagon. Four pitches that if they are off by a quarter of an inch or less on the bat are nothing more than fly balls, and Sheets carries a no-hitter into the sixth.
Tomorrow’s game is gonna be a hum-dinger!
August 18th, 201210:43 pm
August 18th, 201210:44 pm
HOLY SHEETS BATMAN, FOUR (4) DURBINS! IF WILSON COMES BACK TO THE BRAVES WHEN HE HEALS, THEN HAVANA FATS BRAINS HAVE SPILLED OUT FROM ALL THAT CAP TIPPIN’!
August 18th, 201210:45 pm
Start another streak tommorrow
August 18th, 201210:46 pm
I’m with you. Didn’t see but the last two innings so I missed Big Ben but 6 innings and 4 hits couldn’t have been too bad.
Wont win many when you score 1 and leave a gazillion on base.
Wonder how many outs we made with all those guys on base with a K
August 18th, 201210:47 pm
Fredi said if not for the 4 pitches that were homerun balls and the braves wasting scoring chances it would have been a close game.
MiaBch, IF MINOR DOSEN’T GET MURDERLATED, I WILL BE GREATLY SURPRISED!
August 18th, 201210:48 pm
Braves went 0-for-9 with RISP, stranded 11 baserunners.
August 18th, 201210:49 pm
Those wondering about the D.Ross-Hanley Ramirez tift Friday, Ross caught Hanley looking down at his signs. Asked what the hell he was doing. Hanley tried to say he was just getting in the box, that he needed time to get in the box. Ross told him if you need time ask for time, but don’t look at his signs. Told him it was a good way to get hurt, etc. The Dodgers TV feed showed Hanley clearly looking down to get the signs.
But Ross said tonight when I asked him about it that he didn’t have a problem otherwise with Hanley. It didn’t carry over to tonight.
August 18th, 201210:50 pm
Did VJ take the night off or get banned for what he said about Captain Mudd.
August 18th, 201210:51 pm
Seems like there are some people on here complaining tonight.
Looks like Hanley might have stole a couple of signs tonight.
August 18th, 201210:52 pm
They just talked about that on Fox 5…. they were like, yeah, it’s obvious.
August 18th, 201210:53 pm
What a manager.
August 18th, 201210:55 pm
Some great quotes to look back on after the season is over.
nolie, are you going to stir the pot tonight?
August 18th, 201210:56 pm
Maybe Schultz or Bradley will make a highlight or lowlight reel of all them.
what about pot?
August 18th, 201210:57 pm
one toke over the line.
August 18th, 201210:58 pm
Dodgers are pretty good don’t beat up on Sheets to badly he’s 4-3 not bad
August 18th, 201210:59 pm
I am sure the sports dept at Fox 5 got a good laugh about Fredi’s comments.
August 18th, 201211:00 pm
Indeed… I’m really gonna enjoy the one where he says, “We just won the World Series! Whaddya mean how do I feel? I’m excited for all those guys.”
August 18th, 201211:01 pm
don’t beat up on Sheets to badly he’s 4-3 not bad
Not bad at all… Jair Jurrjens wishes he could be 4-3.
August 18th, 201211:03 pm
TOBF, I hope you are right. Would be a great way for Chipper to go out. He might even let Fredi touch him one last time.
I say Minor has a pretty good game tomorrow. But the Dodgers proved something tonight. When you have power bats like Kemp, Ramirez, & Ethier, you take take a game where you’re otherwise being handcuffed, and you can wreck it with a clout or two – especially during playoff baseball, where a dinger is magnified.
I know the Braves have Heyward, Freeman, and Chipper (to a certain degree). The power loss of Uggla and the shoulder miseries McCann has endured lately portends to some serious concerns heading into September.
August 18th, 201211:07 pm
JJ would just like to be still pitching for the atlanta braves. Who would have thought at the start of the season that the braves would have a six man rotation and JJ would not be part of it.
August 18th, 201211:09 pm
Capt Mudd totally misunderstood what I was attempting to say two night’s ago, and I just happened to open the blog last night to see him savaging me, so I was a bit miffed…I regret that he took what i said in such a negative manner…
August 18th, 201211:10 pm
9 runners left in scoring position.
Number of Ks:
There is a correlation there!
Who would have thought at the start of the season that the braves would have a six man rotation and JJ would not be part of it.
Or Beachy. Or Delgado. Pretty bizarre to replace 3 of your starting 5, and have to go to a 6-man rotation ’cause you can’t figure out the odd man out.
August 18th, 201211:11 pm
Not much point commenting tonight, because I might have been accused of not being properly supportive of those who were not totally happy…
Capt was around earlier but seems to have jumped ship.
August 18th, 201211:14 pm
Braves quotage after defeat
August 18th, 201211:16 pm
Oh touch me, touch me….I get a thrill, I get a chill when you touch me….a thrill I can’t ignore, keeps me coming back for more…..oh. oh, oh touch me one more time……
August 18th, 201211:18 pm
Capt, I thought you had left on a fantastic Voyage.
August 18th, 201211:19 pm
Maybe we’ll hit the ball and make them catch and throw more than 24 times like we had to tonight rather than the 15 times they had to tonight.
Say those prayers
August 18th, 201211:20 pm
Just touch me and walk away.
August 18th, 201211:22 pm
Well I’m still waiting for that…(fantastic voyage)….but I’ve been to Canaan, and I want to go back again.
August 18th, 201211:23 pm
Come on Come on now touch me baby, Can’t you see that I am not afraid. What is that promise that you made?
August 18th, 201211:25 pm
Freeman is not batting smart, Mac is hurt and underperforming and Sheets is showing a lack of conditioning. Team going good now but these things are starting to have an effect.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
