Maybe Freddie will be patient next at bat.
His name is Dan. Dan Uggla. Profession: Full time second baseman, part time hitter. Salary $13M
August 18th, 20128:36 pm
Alot of weak swings by the Braves while being ahead of the count.
Not such a good game plan tonight. There is something encouraging about being a team that can ambush some of the best pitchers in baseball but it is very disconcerning how we can be dominated by pitchers that are struggling. It doesn’t mean we suck as a team it just means we are our own worst enemy. Oh well, let’s hope it stays close until the 7th.
The A Bomb
August 18th, 20128:39 pm
Good to see that not only does Uggla field like Mario Mendoza, he hits like him as well.
August 18th, 20128:41 pm
Janish got in good position but ball handcuffed him
August 18th, 20128:42 pm
I guess the game is out of hand now.
Sheets looks spent.
Sheets can’t throw a strike right now.
August 18th, 20128:43 pm
“I guess the game is out of hand now.”
It is now
Sheets shouldn’t have thrown THAT strike
You have another base open.
back to reality
Sheets deserved that. No reason to walk two guys in a row with two outs.
Damn I absolutely hate that SOB
August 18th, 20128:44 pm
Now that’s how you swing 3-0.
Take note, Weaveralez.
90 MPH above the belt will yield that kind of result very often….ask JJ, Minor
The Love for Sheets is turning to Hate faster than you can say “Georgia Cracker”! Wasn’t but a week ago he was the “second coming of JC” for some Braves fans.
Bad decision to pitch to Hanley when you’ve got Loney on deck
Why would you groove a 3-0 pitch to a guy and not walk him? Makes no sense. He already has hit a homer. Just a bad call by Ross/Sheets/Fredi.
August 18th, 20128:45 pm
Why throw a 3-0 strike? with Loney on deck?
Right in his wheel house and a tough night for Ben–looks like fredi will get to make a few decisions
Everything right down the middle.
Time to change the Sheets….
Sheets looked good until he got two outs that inning. Rough start for him again.
August 18th, 20128:46 pm
I’m with you on that bravesgirl
Gotta get at least 6 more runs…get to it.
Pretty sure Fredi and/or Ross didn’t call for a belt high fastball right down the middle. That inning is on Sheets.
bravesgrl4life, nobody can stand Hanley. I’d rather Harang hit the HR than that sack of manure
Ask Tommy Hanson too.

Lookin’ sheetier every other start.
Unfortunately, Sheets isn’t making a case for himself to stay in the rotation.
Whatever happened to a good ole HPB?
August 18th, 20128:48 pm
First Melky showed us up. No response.
Now Ramirez tries to be cute. No response.
Aside from laying down and rolling over…..
Sheets was selfish he knew if he walked Hanley then he would been lifted from the game so he decided to throw 3-0 down the middle. However I think even a 3-1 defecit was too much for us to overcome today so atleast being down 6-1 we can move on and do other things instead of watching the game with hope
Do love the Sheets story. But is the magic wearing off? Um, looks that way.
Freeman is so frustrating to watch.
Swinging 2-0 down 5, makes perfect sense.
“Ask Tommy Hanson too.”
Yes, thank you. Forgot about him
Gotta root for the Jackson is dealing, 10Ks
Last at-bat, horrible.
This at-bat, stupid.
Chasing 5 we need baserunners. Can’t hit a 5-run homer with no one on.
Hello everyone! Sheets wasn’t bad, but location. Might have to take one with the team tonight. It is what it is, and nothing we can do about it, but keep watching the game.
August 18th, 20128:49 pm
Team refuses to take pitches and get a big inning started.
Way too many outs made while way ahead in the count.
how much does Uggla make per year?
And to boot we’ve got Roseanne screeching in the background.
BOY BE FLINGIN’ THEM DURBINS TONIGHT!
Our best 3 are Hudson Malholm and Medlen and lucky we have those 3 going vs the Nationals. We just have to hope that the Mets win today and that tmr somehow we win.
We win 2 out of 3 then we can bring be within 3 games of the Nationals should things not change.
August 18th, 20128:50 pm
Question to ask if you’re a Brave…..if this was Wash. we are playing, how do we proceed? This lead is not insurmountable…..and, if it were DC, the mindset must be….WE CAN.
I meant root for the Mets
Harang is falling behind every batter and has walked 5 guys, could have 10 to be honest.
August 18th, 20128:52 pm
Fire fredi now
Did we actually think Braves were going to win all three? Come on man…….
This game is over….no comeback tonight.
So now with this horrible performance by Sheets very fresh in the minds of Fredi and Frank, Minor has a chance to go out tomorrow and show them both why they need to keep him in the rotation. But I’m betting he can’t and won’t do that. Any chance we could go from a six man to a four man rotation?
August 18th, 20128:53 pm
Just when you start to get uber excited about the Braves pitching, they show up like this.
“Did we actually think Braves were going to win all three? Come on man…….”
No that’s why we wanted to win this one, Minor is pitching tomorrow….
Shoulda played Mac instead of Ross.
Ross is a back-up catcher. Not an everyday guy.
August 18th, 20128:54 pm
I thought we were supposed to be good against the average right hander?
“Just when you start to get uber excited about the Braves pitching, they show up like this.”
This is why a one game playoff scares me really bad. The offense is just too dang streaky to trust it in a one game playoff scenario.
August 18th, 20128:55 pm
Anyways guy’s have fun bitching…….Better days to come a head. Peace, and talk tomorrow, and “Go!!!!!Braves!!!!!”
4 hits, 4 home runs
Feast or Famine with Molotov Sheets.
Our pitching was going to come back down to earth…it had to.
Fire Roger McDowell!!
The ESPN guys might have to write retractions on all of those glowing articles about the Sheets comeback and the Braves surplus of pitching.
August 18th, 20128:56 pm
NY METS 2 WASHINGTON 0 TOP 7
Mets take a 2-0 lead.
At least the Mets have taken a lead over the Nats in the seventh.
August 18th, 20128:57 pm
Hey DOB I am going to the game tomorrow. Do you know if Chipper will play?
Correcto, Mr. Ward. Heck, been a good run. Wash this one out and get over it. Ah, Ben Sheets has done us good. Gave us a lift. He’s still in April, I figure. And this is one game.
August 18th, 20128:58 pm
might not be their night tonight but the good news is that the Nats are losing so maybe no ground lost in the division
Braves lay an egg. An all too familiar sight in general with all Atlanta teams.
Actually, when Fredo announced the six man rotation, the Baseball Gods redrew who would get the minimum run support spot in the rotation.
Sheets is screwed from here on out.
Minor has a reprieve.
The offense has been atrocious tonight. Frustrating.
sid, Per BaseballReference, it’s $13M per year, in answer to your question.
Sheets’ unsightly line: 6 IP, 4 H, 6 R, 2 BB, 3 K, 4 HR. Threw 62 strikes in 98 pitches.
August 18th, 20128:59 pm
Now, does anybody seriously think the Gnats will lose to the Mets with score just 2-0 right now? Seriously?
Chipper will sit tomorrow, most likely…
August 18th, 20129:00 pm
hard to believe, Sheets gave up only 4 hits tonight and 2 walks. Unfortunately, every baserunner he allowed scored!!
August 18th, 20129:01 pm
Since this game went down the Sheeter, I kinda wanted to see Benny throw some more batting practice fastballs to at least help out my Fantasy Teams with Kemp and Ethier.
August 18th, 20129:02 pm
Mets only 2-0?
Braves/Heat 2012 Champs
Mutts are beating the Nuts.
August 18th, 20129:04 pm
Must be the Florida Connection. Fredi will sit Mac but not Uggla.
Highlight of the night….Timothy Miller of the Atlanta Opera with another stunning rendition of God Bless America.
First time Sheets has allowed four homers in a game in 248 career starts.
That dude can sing…
Can he hit?
Coach (2012 Fredi's Beisbol Fandango)
The clock has struck midnight and Sheets has turned back into a pumpkin.
Song is exemplary in all respects—Timothy is a great tenor—blessed to have him in attendance.
Time for the offense to do something.
Hugo Z Hackenbush
May God almighty strike down the next person who makes a Sheets pun…
August 18th, 20129:05 pm
DOB: were every one of the HRs off of fastballs? Or were any off of his trademark curve. He seems to be hesitant to throw the curve except as an out pitch.
August 18th, 20129:06 pm
“does anybody seriously think the Gnats will lose to the Mets with score just 2-0 right now? Seriously?”
if they don’t have to use their bullpen I think they can win 2-0
August 18th, 20129:07 pm
Can the Eric Hinske experiment end this year?
I used to really like the guy, but wow…
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
