Va Braves — That is why I am more of a XBH and RBI guy than OBP.
You can have a game where you have a nice OBP and plenty of LOB.
OBP is not bad but its not the end all and be all. Pitching and the ol fashoned 3 run homer will win alot of games like the great Earl Weaver said.

Still an inning like that steals all the momentum. Sheets didn’t even give the defense a chance to stop em, getting rocked by 2 very easy outs in there lineup. But it still goes back to our 1st AB and only being able to score 1 run.

over a full season there is nothing that compares to team OBP in correlation to runs scoring including homers

Sheets has already given more to us than I expected…. if for some reason his “magic” is over, so be it. We’re not doomed, we got Kris Medlen and Maholm ready to pick up the slack.

It’s hilarious to read some of the posts after Sheets first inning and the posts from the same ones after that second inning. It’s like night and day. You guys don’t know if you’re coming or going.

Sheets it´s done… 3 of the last 4 starts including this one Sheets was awful… vs Marlins he was knocked in the 1st inning, then thrown a nice game vs Philly , vs Mets he sucks , and vs LA tonight allowing 3 HR in a row that sucks.. and it´s only the 2nd inning,,, so he K Matt Kemp but a AAA players like Loney and Cruz homered ?? WTF it´s wrong with Sheets!!!!! …. apparently the odd man after the final week this month will be Sheets and not Mike Minor… watching the game vs Mets and this one i dont see too much difference between Sheets and Jurrjens…maybe only the salary….
hope for Braves comeback!!!!

sure it is TOBF and hopefully it will get better again, but he really needs to sharpen up his command and stay lower in the zone. he does not have the great pitches that he used to have that allowed him to be successful that way. Adjustments are needed.

Exactly what I thought – dead arm is a term which is used to explain a sudden drop in velocity (about 10mph or so). Sheets is missing locations and getting pitches UP after being down the first few starts.

What in the heck was Freeman doing swinging at a 3-0 pitch down and a way? There is no reason to swing at that pitch at all while ahead in the count. Freeman has had some dumb at bats tonight.

Ben Sheets has done fine except for 4 lousy pitches.
Took the momentum out of the game for now.
The offense has to bail him out and all we are doing is fattening the OBP and ending the innings with LOB.
