I won’t even say anything bad about Barry Bonds and I’ll tell you why. Of all the guys that took PEDs, no one struck fear in a pitcher like Bonds did. They pitched to McGuire, they pitched to Sosa. But when it came to Bonds, they walked his ass 200 times in a year. And look how many balls he put in McCovey Cove. Even with PEDs that isn’t easy to do. I know I’m in the minority, but I liked him a lot.

I’ll say it again. I was down on Francisco earlier in the year, but he does look a lot trimmer than earlier this season. And he is doing much better when given the chance. I hope he keeps it up and dedicates himself to being a good player.

Interesting stat I just found:
Rickey Henderson, the most prolific basestealer in MLB history and a very dangerous leadoff hitter. Only 66 triples in 25 years of baseball.
For comparison, I submit that Bourn has 44 in only 7 years.

I hope this was sarcasm but nonetheless, at least 30 homeruns the past 5 years and a career high 36 homeruns last year. Trust me, he will last in the majors.

They’ve been willing to shell out 15 mil per season for guys like Lowe and uggla. If they don’t pay Bourne then I’m through with waiting on wren to put together a team. Wren threw away $18 mil a year for 2 years on mclouth and kawakami. Make a smart move and pay Bourne. He’s the real deal.

He was a great player with great hand to eye skills.
The cheating allowed him to expand his talent and do something he would have never been able to do otherwise.
Was he good? Sure
Was it right? No
Being a really, really good cheater shouln’t justify it and make it ok because other cheaters wern’t as good at it.

Henderson was a great leadoff guy but wasn’t my favorite player for sure.
Best thing about the night he broke the SB record was that Nolan Ryan threw a no-no so Henderson didn’t get much highlight time – Ryan Express got it all!

‘JCBrave’ Bats are very much maligned, so back off them please. They have very low visual acuity,but are not blind. Their senses of smell and hearing compensate for their visual deficiencies. They are great night hunters.

I thought the new MLB rule was that if the visiting team had to travel the next day that the game before that unless there was an off day had to start before 4:05PM? Padres play in Atlanta tomorrow night and then travel back to SD to play a home game Friday…

Rick C – I was making fun of all of Francisco’s detractors. Jaun is from the Dominican Republic and you never know what you are getting, you can only hope they want to learn and will listen to the instructors. The Dominican is a third world country and the important things to us may not be to a young man from there. Jaun is doing his best to learn that – well.
He will get a chance to play 3B for the Braves in 2013.

Actually it kinda is. The Atlanta Braves are as much of a regional team as I can think of in baseball. A lot of their fans are in other parts of Georgia besides the Metro area as well as NC, TN, AL, SC and Mississipppi. So when school’s out many folks make long weekends or mini weekday trips to catch a ballgame. I just don’t see a big fan base in the immediate Metro area of Atlanta like there is in other Metro areas of cities with MLB teams in it. So therefore, its harder for folks to make it out to the park during the week when school goes back into session.

I have been pleased with what I’ve been seeing from Francisco lately, and I think they will give him a chance to at least platoon with Prado at 3rd next year, but he steals scares the crap outta me. When he is going bad, he looks miserable. Still, I like the idea of a platoon there. When a righthander is pitching, Prado goes to left field and Francisco to 3rd.

As I said earlier I think Francisco deserves a shot next year. But if Braves can pick up a very good 3rd baseman or left fielder, I think they will. I do think Francisco will be a valuable piece, as a player or in a trade

I think Francisco has done well enough to snooker somebody into trading someone decent for him. If we take him to spring training and give hima shot by the all-star break he’ll be benched and we’ll have 2 guys hitting 210 with 100 plus Ks.
Sorry but thats the way I see it playing out if he gets everyday playing time.
