Nice piece of hitting for Heyward. How about pushing some runs across.
Fredi with a chance to add to his team high RBI.
yes it was, and I have no trouble with any one saying that, at least as long as they don’t go on and on with it
August 15th, 20128:03 pm
a fly ball woulda been nice there too
what the hell is going on
No no no Pete. Even Joe Simpson said it. It didn’t bounce, it skimmed. Don’t look now though, the Braves are about to blow another inning.
August 15th, 20128:04 pm
Ridiculous approaches by the Braves with men on base.
Looks like it may be yet another frustrating inning.
An out was going to be made there- at least the guys were all wise enough to move up so we still have runners in scoring position
August 15th, 20128:05 pm
And the stupid, incompetent Braves get thrown out at home plate again.
August 15th, 20128:06 pm
another batting practice report of dan uggla…joe simpson gives about one a week
Actually, Martin got thrown out going back to third base.
August 15th, 20128:07 pm
Uggs with the pick up….
Now THAT’S how you hit the ball out to left.
His name is Dan, Dan Uggla!!!
well, that worked
Well, so much for what I was gonna say.
“another batting practice report of dan uggla…joe simpson gives about one a week”
That was batting practice like right there….
inning saved by Uggla!
Ok, now THAT is truly SHOCKING.
You call that a home run (the Padres wall-scraper)? Now that is a home run (Uggla’s)!
Thanks to Crocodile Dundee for the line.
August 15th, 20128:08 pm
their are no words to how big that was….Uggla!!!!!!
I would still chew on the arse’s of Freddie and Mac..can’t even hit the ball to the outfield…
Maybe Uggla is back to May 2011 form. Still prefer August 2011.
Such a liar, that Gameday…
August 15th, 20128:09 pm
I love it when I am wrong. Nice shot by Uggla.
Just CRUSHED that 95 mph, letters-high heater. Turned on it and hammered it.
My, my I always thought Dan could chop one soon
what was shocking about it? He has had a good August with some homers and ribbies
August 15th, 20128:10 pm
His name is Dan. Dan Uggla. $20,000 per plate appearance for a part time hitter. Great investment!

Please hold this lead.
always has to be some idiot Tuff, we understand
August 15th, 20128:13 pm
Maholm is not as sharp so far this game, so I guess not lights out
Great. Hit Quentin on an 0-2 pitch.
August 15th, 20128:14 pm
Andy Elliott @delli022
@ajcbraves @mlbbowman Jiar just walked off mound in Norfolk with trainer.
one hopper to janish right here…
August 15th, 20128:16 pm
Maybin is pretty good at hitting that small dribbler in front of the plate against the Braves. I remember him doing that last year too.
August 15th, 20128:18 pm
Uggla really crunched that ball, didn’t he? Badly needed…
Facts are facts, SP, can’t deny the truth. Sorry if you take it personally!
August 15th, 20128:19 pm
Jiar does that a lot….
Ok now let’s handle the success….have a quiet 4th….except for Joe promoting Bud Black’s Bio.
Paul as sharp as a butter knife here….sigh.
Doesn’t look like Maholm wants to win this game.
Padres > Mets
August 15th, 20128:20 pm
I don’t know really who to blame but it seems like almost every Braves pitcher gets ahead of a batter and then starts to pick around the corners instead of attacking…
It’s a good thing walks never come back to hurt a team.
Maholm is gonna tie it!
Not a quiet 4th…..grrrr
Maholm just being “lights out”.
August 15th, 20128:21 pm
1-2 to Hundley after that non-called strike.
Fox tracks my foot…..the pitch was low.
August 15th, 20128:22 pm
“Fox tracks my foot…..the pitch was low.”
Oh it was definitely a strike on there, but the Padres didn’t get that call a bit ago so its even now.
Yeah….Maholm wants to lose.
August 15th, 20128:23 pm
still trying to figure out why pitchers try to sneak a fastball by Uggla. He can tomahawk the high pitches as well. SHould be nothing but breaking balls, especially with 2 strikes
That was some terrific pitching right there…..well done.
Big big k’s
August 15th, 20128:24 pm
Volquez strikes out, Padres leave ‘em loaded vs. Maholm, who’s thrown 62 pitches in 4 innings, has 3-1 lead
Geebus. Volquez must have swung about 2 feet above that curve ball.
Trainer is going to have to untie the knots that Volquez twisted himself in.
Maholm was definitely “lights out” on those last two batters. Maybe he settles down now.
not the quick top half of the inning I was hoping for but kept them scoreless anyway. Time to jump back on Volquez
August 15th, 20128:25 pm
got the big bats coming up….
August 15th, 20128:27 pm
Maholm didn’t do what I said he would!
Really scuffling. Sad.
Uggla has 8 extra-base hits (3 HRs) and 16 RBIs in past 16 games, after hitting .110 w/ 4 extra-base hits and 9 RBIs in previous 42 games.
So, the Braves have 2nd and 3rd with no outs and don’t score. The Braves are bumbs.
The Padres strand the bases loaded with one and and the Braves pitching is outstanding. Got to the weak part of the Padres order and shut them down.
thanks for that gift
August 15th, 20128:29 pm
thanks for the gift
August 15th, 20128:30 pm
Janish gets really lucky….
McFann, I just read your comment on the previous blog, since I have been sleeping pretty much the whole day. Yeah, I know all about that wisdom teeth thing. They pulled mine out, in boot camp, on my 20th birthday. All they did was give me Novacaine, in my gums. I was conscious through the whole thing. At least, they put you to sleep for that
Thought I would try to “cheer” you up even more “SP”. These numbers should do it.
Uggla -earned approx. 72% of salary so far this year so that’s 15 HRs @ $624,000 per HR AND
with 62RBI @ $151,000 per RBI
Taint pretty when you get it down to the penny is it? As I said, a part time hitter making $13M per yr.
August 15th, 20128:32 pm
That works…..stole a run
this is a weird inning
August 15th, 20128:33 pm
You guy see Maholm loafing down to second? Would’ve been easy to throw him out if they’d known.
Well done! (fortunately, posting that about a run has made me forget to laugh in TuffShtuff’s general direction for becoming the new blog obsessive)…
I will take that run. Volquez would have got Janish at home but no way any other IF would have. Too bad volzquez didn’t hit that ball a little higher and further in the air
Glad you’re doing well and are past the surgery.
your version of “the truth” is everybody’s joke Tuff. nobody even needs to try to handle it
August 15th, 20128:34 pm
Another dink job…..payback for mon nite.
That was a nice try by the SS, albeit unsuccessful…
August 15th, 20128:35 pm
C’mon Maholm. At least make it look like you’ve play baseball before. Did you just learn to use your legs or what?
August 15th, 20128:36 pm
payback for mon nite
For half a second, I thought you were speaking French…
August 15th, 20128:37 pm
who the devil wants the starting pitcher running hard in the middle of a game?
“Trey, August 15th, 2012, 8:30 pm …They pulled mine out, in boot camp, on my 20th birthday.”
Did they need to come out? Or was this just a birthday/hazing thing?
Here’s a present, tough guy. We’re yanking your wisdom teeth out.
August 15th, 20128:38 pm
Heyward is looking good tonight!!!
That elicited an “ooh” from me as it was smacked…
Superlative effort by Heyward
Jason , Mon ami
Attaboy, way, er, Heyward!!
August 15th, 20128:39 pm
Runs, too many runs!
I refuse to believe this is happening!
Nice work Heyward!
August 15th, 20128:40 pm
pitching change here gives Maholm a little extra rest before he goes back out there. Now just throw strikes and go after the hitters
Nice. Very Nice!
3 really good AB’s by jason tonight….rest looks like it helped
Good job Jason. I really like the direction he is headed. I know our offense looks helpless at times, but with Heyward, Freeman, Prado, and Simmons we do have a good core of talent. Can’t wait to see what Wren decides to do this winter. No way does he stand pat like last year. We got pieces to fill.
