Is anyone REALLY surprised at what Milky did!? It speaks to character, or a lack thereof, that this fat blithering idiot literally stole both an All Star MVP award, as well as a season of baseball where his illegal stupidity (as if HE was not going to get CAUGHT!) directly affected division races and team fortunes with what amounts to a bogus season.
What does it REALLY say to those of you who are quick to say that Barry Bonds would’ve still been an HOF’er had he not been on the clear and cream, I offer this PRIME example, as well as recent seasons of HR drop-off’s, as a definitive Exhibit A on what PED’s have done to skew records and player legacies. Bond’s career trajectory took off vertically the minute he signed with San Fran and became the physical mutant that would steal the most hallowed of baseball records under severely and vulgar false pretenses.
Take this season away, and Milky is a fat slob that can’t play OF and barely hits .260 to save his life. Take away the steroids, and Barry Bonds doesn’t even hit HALF the home runs he did, thus making him the most marginal of HOF candidates.
How does Ken Griffey Jr. REALLY look now in retrospect!
If this PRIME example of what PED’s has done to destroy baseball records in the past 20 years does not resonate with reasonable, thinking people who love baseball…
Then there’s nothing I can say to that without being vulgar myself.
I’d love to have some of the pitching prospects and hitting prospects of some of the other teams… I mean, where is our Matt Harvey? Zack Wheeler? Wil Myers? Manny Machado? Why don’t we have 1, esp. on the pitching side?…TOBF
because we just brought three position players like that up in two years, amd all of our bif three were rated in that league as pitchers too including Teheran whom we still have. The development of our guys was very good and there is a chance that at least some of those guys will stall just like Teheran has lately.
Nah, I’m just tragically negative. 14 postseasons of failures left me with too many traumas.
By the way, the Dodgers scare me…
Kemp, Ethier, Ramirez, the Ellis guys, Gordon, Victorino and Uribe (one of the worst hitters I’ve ever seen, and yet a Brave-killer).
Those are guys the Braves have never been able to consistently dominate. I’m terrified at the possibility of the Braves having to face that lineup in the postseason…
The minute they shut down Strassburg, the gNats will fall apart. September will loom and destroy them. They will wilt under the pressure of true playoff drive baseball.
This is a contract year for Mike,he is playing extra hard to make sure he gets that big long term contract, afterward he can relax and play anyway he wants to play. If I knew he would continue to give 100% after the contract I would have no problem giving him Chipper Money, problem is most players don’t after getting the long term contract. I would prefer giving him $20 million for 3 years as opposed to $15 million for 6 years that way if he slacks off you won’t be stuck with big bucks long term.
For all those who continue to revisit ancient history by blathering on and on, ad nauseum, about the Teixiera/Texas trade a few years ago, guess what? Braves now have a better W-L record than the Rangers! Yeah boy…that Texas trade really devastated us, didn’t it??
We need a win badly tonight. A win puts us a season-high 20 games over .500, and an even four games behind the ‘Nats with 44 games remaining. I think we can still catch them, but we need to keep the pressure on and win as many as we can.
Hopefully they spend what they need to. Bottom line is without him the leadoff spot your team is not as good. Overypaying for Hanson would be the next dumbest move they make besides not resigning Bourn. Keep Bourn and Heyward, let Francisco play 3b, trade Uggla for an OF who can hit in the .280s or better and let Prado play 2b.

or possibly even Bubba Starling.
How are we getting Bubba Starling from KC? They aren’t trading him, man. Elite prospects like that don’t get traded. If they do, it’s rare.

that’s a you problem, most fans of any other team would consider 14 years like that as baseball bliss

Package Tommy Hanson with Gilmartin and try to get Austin Jackson. Det needs pitching would be better than paying bourn 18-20 mil a year.
