Whats up man? You must of had a rough day or something. You down on the Bravos tonight!
We are gonna win this thing tonight. Sheets is getting them to hit it at us now and we’re gonna knock this guy out by the 6th.
August 12th, 20129:02 pm
Dear Braves wake up and get some runs.
August 12th, 20129:04 pm
Not a very good at bat for Uggla – thought he was coming out of his slump?
Uggla has to just straight guess to take those two fastballs right down the middle.
August 12th, 20129:05 pm
I think Niese is a guy we hope Minor becomes
B Mc robbed
Wow – tough break McCann. Breaks aren’t going the Braves way just yet.
Mets know how to have pride and uplevel their play when on the national stage.
Uggla come on man!!
August 12th, 20129:06 pm
B to the GAME!!
Getting some good hacks though. We are fine!
Question to the rest of you guys in here if we end up losing this game would you guys consider this a bad series. I know that I would and the reason is the Mets are team that we should sweep and also also the Nats losing today. We got to find a way to win this game or it could become a bad series for us.
I know it’s still kind of early but I’m not liking the Braves’ chances tonight. It seems they are hitting into a lot of “bad luck” (good defensive plays) this game.

August 12th, 20129:07 pm
And Schilling has still achieved far more than you assclowns ever will…
Buster Olney annoys me more and more by the minute.
August 12th, 20129:08 pm
….And….regretfully Mr. Uggla knows just how to show the national audience what it looks lke to go a buck thiry five over two months–really a daft at bat for the chap there.
August 12th, 20129:09 pm
Mr. Valdespin – meet Uncle Charley – oooof – that was a nasty curve for strike 3
August 12th, 20129:10 pm
Guys its baseball!!!!!!!!!
The Big Red Machine didn’t lead every game they won from the first inning
This is why each team gets 27 outs.
Torres runs like he has something stuck up his rear end.
warm up the Pen Sheets is not looking good tonight.
August 12th, 20129:11 pm
Stars are in line for the Braves to lose this one…the Nats won, Mets have lost 10 of last 11 home games, and the game is on ESPN.12
August 12th, 20129:12 pm
Mark- mostly kidding
August 12th, 20129:14 pm
Sheets is throwing well!!!
I’ve been pretty blessed so far in my life. Never pitched in the majors though. Wouldn’t trade spots though even if I could.
Hit the ball, guys
August 12th, 20129:15 pm
I want to see Phil call Sheets fat to his face. Or a “bum”. Big boy would knock some Louisiana sense in to your ass.
I hear ya. I’m not complaining. Its entertaining!!
August 12th, 20129:17 pm
Serious question, not trying to be S/A. Is a part-time hitter worth $13M per year? Uggla was a part-time hitter last year, no denying that, and so far this year he is the same thing. Think what the Braves would have accomplished last year had he hit consistently, and so far it’s “ditto” this year. Must be nice to be paid that much for “part-time work”!
Man, we are hitting some balls hard right at folks but they’ll fall eventually.
Bourn needs a multipitch AB here
I think Niese is a guy we hope Minor becomes ncbravesfan90
Somehow, I find it hard to believe that most people are hoping that Minor can be like a pitcher who is 30-29 with a 4.24 ERA. We expect a bit more from the 7th pick of the 1st round.
August 12th, 20129:18 pm
As much as Janish doesn’t hit, he only has 17 K’s in about 100 PA’s, and only grounded into one DP. He’s making contact, just not getting anything to fall.
Not too bad since the Braves only got him for his glove.
Sheets got himself out too soon to be able to rest in the dugout….
Good nite all. Pull us through…
August 12th, 20129:20 pm
Niese pitching a pretty good game
August 12th, 20129:21 pm
Since Janish 2-out single in 2nd, Braves have only mustered one baserunner (walk) in past 10 outs.
Chatttown – stick it in your own fat ear, doof.
And nite too you too.
August 12th, 20129:22 pm
Niese has been much luckier than Sheets thus far. We are hitting atom balls
August 12th, 20129:23 pm
Big Ben is not afraid to go inside
August 12th, 20129:24 pm
Has a Mets player got a hit on a hard hit ball tonite?
Seems like the only shot have been outs.
Braves vs Mets pen in this series: 7 hits, 3 runs, 10.2 innings. This from what I keep hearing is a bad bullpen.
“Somehow, I find it hard to believe that most people are hoping that Minor can be like a pitcher who is 30-29 with a 4.24 ERA. We expect a bit more from the 7th pick of the 1st round.”
Yes one would expect that from a 1st round pick, but in all honesty should one be holding out that Minor will eventually be better than that?? After 86 games, I for one, would be very pleased with the fact that Minor had those numbers of Niese. That would mean that Minor has shaved over a half run off his career ERA.
August 12th, 20129:25 pm
OK – question answered.
David Wright ‘wants’ this!
August 12th, 20129:26 pm
Pace – I said a couple of days ago Simmons better come back with a hot bat because Janish is the real deal at SS. He’s from a decade or two ago with the superb D and .200 average.
Ballgame….not that it wasn’t before.
okay…now it’s really ‘ballgame.”
It’s difficult to label a person an “assclown,” in such an informal venue…..one thing one might consider is an accomplished person is ‘accomplished’ within their respective discipline….not to put him down, however, Mr. Schilling probably cannot perform brain surgery–he is a major league force still working closely in the public arena where criticism is rampant and many times an unwanted variable….who knows the true talents and acumen within the walls of this blog…..some, granted, could very well be pure ‘assclowns.’ My money says most are not–IMO, most of these guys and gals on this blog are here for the noble duty of supporting their favorite MLB team–The Braves…it would serve one well to merely label them fanatics…..and leave it at that.
August 12th, 20129:27 pm
Braves have to hold them here. Any more runs, and thisgame could very well be over.
Why Sheets why no one is asking to pitch a no no hitter. But what we are asking is you is to pitch much better then you are pitching tonight. Fredi please send Sheets to the shower enough is enough.
August 12th, 20129:28 pm
i hate espn games….and it looks like we will have a few more before the end of the season so we better learn how to win one
August 12th, 20129:29 pm
If Sheets was giving up bombs, I’d be upset, but these hits are bleeders, off the thumbs, (any more cliches for weakass hits?)
The bats have to pick up some of the slack here – the offense can’t go totally in the tank for an entire game.
August 12th, 20129:30 pm
That bad 1st inning by the Braves, (2 on, no outs, and fail to score) is looking like it might have been bigger than first thought.
Meat of the order coming up, and it’s time for Chipper to get something going, 0 – 2 with men on bas both times tonight.
@Pace Giving up bombs or not he have giving up 4 runs which is way too many.
the argument against a 6 man rotation is that your best pitcher gets less starts…but since we dont have a clear number 1 starter a 6 man rotation makes a lot of sense….if one guy starts consistently being hit then pull him out and go back to 5
August 12th, 20129:31 pm
Maybe we should have “high socks” ESPN broadcast games like “high socks” Mondays.
August 12th, 20129:32 pm
Bravesfaninnc – two of those runs are the fault of poor defense – one is unearned, the other shouldn’t have been at second base and able to score.
Hello everyone! Well guy’s this could be Ballgame!!!!! Braves offense is back to stink mode. Looks like we will have to take one with the team….
Relievers shouldn’t win the Cy Young
Starters shouldn’t win the MVP
August 12th, 20129:33 pm
Have to be happy with 2 out 3,and series win.
Man the offense must have been left at the Grand Hyatt tonight.
August 12th, 20129:34 pm
9 outs to score 3 runs but even if it doesn’t happen they picked a good day to lose since the Nats lost too
Well, maybe the 6th inning was a little overly optimistic on my part but I still think we can knock him out
Chipper swings at the first pitch every AB…way to make him work.
August 12th, 20129:35 pm
It’s very frustrating that on a night when the Nats lost and we have a chances to move to 3.5 out of first place. The Braves have not showed. This what you called a team who is not ready to win the big game when need to.
August 12th, 20129:36 pm
Offense is stinky tonight….. Not much hope in it.
I agree Mark. The relievers have the Rolaids Relief. The starters have the Cy Young.” Everyday players have the MVP. I also don’t think you should be able to win Rookie of the Year if you played professional baseball internationally (such as Japan).
August 12th, 20129:37 pm
Uggla, McCann Janish= 1,2,3 inning
I’m surprised that Fredi didnt play Reed Johnson and David Ross.
No excuse for that pitch though. 95 pitches? Time to go Ben.
Now that one was hit hard
Just not Sheets’ night.
August 12th, 20129:38 pm
Haw, I’ve killed THREE innings now, by making FOUR outs! THAT’LL teach ol’ Ben to beat my time with that Hooters Chick, haw-haw!
This game is over. Sheets you are the reason why we won’t move up to 3.5 out of first place after this game.
Well lets make a rally
August 12th, 20129:39 pm
I’m calling it a night, and Have fun with Bitchell tonight! Peace my friends. We are taking one with the team tonight! “Go!!!!!Braves!!!!!”Talk tomorrow…..
The talking monkey
Ben sheets is a fat ape.
I’m now believing ESPN has bobble head dolls of every team, and they stick a big pin in the teams they don’t like just before their broadcast games. Only explanation for it. No other logic to explain it.
Well, we can’t afford to lose when the Nats win. And we can’t afford to lose when they lose.
Guess we gotta win ‘em all.
Not tonight folks with the way we aren’t making Neese work, and the way the Mets are hitting Sheets.
August 12th, 20129:40 pm
I agree on the international thing.
Braves already won the series, facing a lhp, and is ESPN Sunday night, the had zero chance of winning this game. Plus they look like thy are ready o get out of own and head to SD. (Another brilliant move btw, having the Braves play in NY on Sunday night, then having to fly all the way across the country to play SD tomorrow night.)
August 12th, 20129:42 pm
Mark — That one really sticks out because Chipper would have been ROY if not for Nomo
Uhm Tony – don’t the Braves fly to ATL tonite and play the Padres at home?
Sheets is threw well. Hope he is done because he has to be around 100 or so pitches
August 12th, 20129:43 pm
tony austin, the Braves are playing San Diego in Atlanta tomorrow night, they are not flying cross country
August 12th, 20129:44 pm
2 out of 3 is always good on the road….and i would have taken it at the beginning of the series…it’s just frustrating watching the 1 loss
You’re right Pace, I misread the schedule, sorry about that. Pardon my rant please
Braves have to win each series, but a sweep is preferred. Right now, it doesn’t look like the Braves are into this game at all.
August 12th, 20129:45 pm
2 out 3 is not going to get it done if the goal is to catch the Nats.
Rotunda Sy-phillys Obama
The Braves are about -4.5 games better than Washington, and tonight proves it.
“WARD”……….”have to be happy with 2 out of 3, and series win”.
“Hmmmm”…….”picked a good day to lose since the Nats lost too.”
That’s the kind of thought process that will put you still about 3-4 games behind the Nats at year’s end.
these guys are ready to go home…swinging at everything
August 12th, 20129:46 pm
Lance – Yep. He played every 5th day and won ROY. Plus the fact that he played in LA didn’t hurt. Wonder where that guy disappeared to?
Chipper also had a Gold Glove robbed from him by Wright! Well the voters did it.
SWING SWING SWING SWING SWING AND TWO OUTS!!!!!!!
August 12th, 20129:47 pm
Mark — Wright did steal that Gold Glove
Ugglas got that S word going well tonight after he swings and misses those curves!
The Braves must have gone out last night and really partied since they had such a late start today – batters are all acting like they’re feeling the effects of a rough night.
Had your chance 3 weeks ago and managed to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory with that 4 game split.
Run for Mac Fredi!
August 12th, 20129:48 pm
When the pitchers give up runs early, it seems like the offense goes into some kind of brain-lock, and just shuts down.
The only way to catch Washington is to beat Washington.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
