No – just answering a hypothetical…
That’ll be a hard luck E on JHey
Also typical. Once we are on ESPN they turn to crap.
This is what happens when you don’t score in the top half of the inning when you have a good chance. The other team comes back and takes advantage…..
August 12th, 20128:22 pm
Well – putting the team behind the 8-ball early.
Mets finally take an early lead in this series
This the same team we played Fri and Sat..
August 12th, 20128:23 pm
Three soft hits – don’t know what Sheets can do about that. The only hard hit ball was a fly-out to Bourn.
Even .214 hitters gets hits…..should have scored when we could….
Nationas lose, so we will lose.
my my how things can change in just a half inning, and Sheets looks a little worse about every game
Sheets looking very Hansonesque early….sigh
They haven’t hit a ball really hard yet.
August 12th, 20128:24 pm
Nice job, Marteeennn…
No, “Mark” VJ was being his usual theoretical self! I was speaking in terms of reality and present tense and he was off in “imaginary land”.
Two hard hit balls – both outs. Three softly hit balls – 2 runs. Frustrating.
August 12th, 20128:25 pm
1st inning people
What is Sheets babip?
Cut this bumb…
August 12th, 20128:26 pm
Some of you guys would sure be depressing to have in a dugout when your trying to win a game.
Also, just muted the announcers. Blah, blah, blah
August 12th, 20128:27 pm
A moon pie without an RC is blasphemy.
Sheets is the weakest link in our rotation right now. I think Sheets gets voted off and Hanson takes over for him.
2-0 is as insurmountable as it gets…sigh
Just get em back ….
Hersheiser says some scouts around baseball think Sheets might be hitting a “dead arm” stage. They’re saying his velocity on the fastball has steadily gone down his last few starts. IDK, I haven’t really noticed.

August 12th, 2012
Just don’t get any worse than that. Runners first and third, one out, and CJ hits into a DP!
I merely pointed out that this was hardly the worst situation imaginable – I am sorry if you would prefer to hurl insults, when I did not even mention your name…
6 man rotation coming right up for the next two weeks. they may even simply bypass Sheets next start to give him a little rest. He didn’t have a spring training, remember?
August 12th, 20128:29 pm
Sheets looking very Hansonesque early
We’ve now used the term “Hansonesque”? Wow.
Folks, he’s not that bad.
Niese is the type of pitcher that can shut this lineup down. After that 1st inning I’m a little concerned.
August 12th, 20128:30 pm
he’s simply killing the ball right now..
Fredie has your back Ben!!!!!!
And the lead is cut in HALF – FF – wow
Crap! We just may have a chance anyway.
Chris from the Rock
Freeman is turning into a hitting beast.
August 12th, 20128:31 pm
Wow. He is on everything.
I’ll say it again, when Heyward was going strong – pitchers were still and are still going right after him.
Pitchers have “pitched around” Freeman based on his plate appearances.
August 12th, 20128:32 pm
Buster Olney @Buster_ESPN
Holy crow, Freddie Freeman just obliterated a baseball.
Freddie looks like an overgrown chase utley with the way he swings.. short and quick…which is what my gf says…
can’t beieve Uggla has been moved up in the order what an idiot! .210 avg
Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
The Miami Dolphins have just released Chad Johnson, scouts cleaned out his locker
Nice job, Paul!
That ought to shut up some of the doomsday forecast for the game tonight. Unless the Mets get another run any time soon
Nice Mac. How long are you going to play hurt fella?
That boy can hit! Freeman I mean. BMac looks way lost again.
August 12th, 20128:34 pm
Good move splitting the lefties up
Is it really 2-0?
Please do not tell me it’s 2-0 Mets in the first inning.
If the Braves don’t win this game there might as well be no point to the rest of the season.
If they let the Nationals off the hook for losing to the Diamondbacks they should just give them the division banner.
Just take the 2010 NL Wild Card banner off the facade in left field, which shouldn’t be up there anyway, and write Nationals 2012 NL East Division Champions.
And then give it to them.
Either win this game or lose to the Mets and do that.
August 12th, 20128:35 pm
Just don’t worry if they go with a 6 man rotation or not. They know these pithers way better than us. Just chill and watch. That’s all you can do.
The good news is the pitcher batted that inning – Bourn will lead off the 3rd – time to get something started.
Sheets needs to clamp down this inning and keep the Mutts off base.
There has been a Bitchell sighting, unfortunately…
August 12th, 20128:36 pm
That’s better. Just want to be clear the utmost importance of winning tonight’s game, right here.
Or in New York.
August 12th, 20128:37 pm
They could be playing in Hawaii, it would still be important.
Nothing important ever happens in Hawaii as we all know.
August 12th, 20128:38 pm
August 12th, 20128:39 pm
Huge Dolphins fan, don’t let the door hit our butt on the way out Chad.
August 12th, 20128:40 pm
Mac was yelling 2 on that bunt. Good decision by Sheets
Wren is the man..
August 12th, 20128:41 pm
Sheets is kinda fat, ya know…
August 12th, 20128:42 pm
Sheets doesnt seem to have it
August 12th, 20128:43 pm
The big hitting Mets lineup…..
Not very well executed…
gameday looks like ump is squeezing…
August 12th, 20128:44 pm
Before anybody starts fussing that was just a ground ball that roles through the infield.
Now the circus around the plate wasn’t good
Freddie Freeman is up to .283/.353/.479 on the year.
days like this we wish for medlen in the pen…
Can anyone out there throw and catch?
August 12th, 20128:45 pm
Mac just gets worse by the day….
August 12th, 20128:46 pm
Why is it we can’t close the gap whenever the Nats lose?
August 12th, 20128:47 pm
Oh DOB – great write-up, fail on the link to Tom Waits: — Pace
Thanks for the heads-up. I just linked from another live show in Sydney. Check it out now.
Because the game isn’t over yet!
August 12th, 20128:48 pm
McCant is going to get hurt trying to catch a throw from the outfield. LOL!!
DOB – I already did – just like I remember seeing him oh those many years ago Thanks for checking.
August 12th, 20128:49 pm
Why did the Dolphins sign the idiot Johnson to begin with? Total desperation?
geeze folks its 3rd inning plenty of time left
Sheets at 51 pitches – looks like a short night for him, bullpen will finally get some work in the series!
August 12th, 20128:50 pm
Springsteen’s “Sherry Darling” blasted on the Citi Field speakers between innings. No ads, no promos, just the Boss for 2 minutes. Bliss.
2nd time through the order the Braves will start to figure this thing out a little.
Sheets has been way better than expected so far this season, so he gets a break for being average tonight.
August 12th, 20128:51 pm
Schilling is bloated and fat, like Sheets.
August 12th, 20128:52 pm
Sheets gave up 3 runs in 1st inning Aug. 1 vs. Marlins, gave up 4 (3 earned) in 4-1 loss. Only less-than-stellar one before today
Prado needs some rest….awful of late.
August 12th, 20128:53 pm
August 12th, 2012
Schilling is bloated and fat, and bankrupt.
August 12th, 20128:54 pm
Put some pressure on the pitcher here, Chipper!
It seems like all our starters have “one inningitis” — at least one inning where they just can’t seem to get through it without serious damage
Thought Chipper gapped that one.
So, it was Sheets’ 3rd start when he had trouble vs. the Marlins, and this is his sixth start. Doesn’t like multiples of 3 I guess
Oh, and his ERA has climbed ALL THE WAY up to 1.85! da bum!
Sure the Mets aren’t leading the division? Sure looks like it tonight. But we are on Sunday Night Baseball so that could be part of it too. Good thing is that ESPN does not carry postseason games so we have that going for us.
August 12th, 20128:55 pm
even if a few of them are successful, I can’t stand first pitch swings
August 12th, 20128:56 pm
Chipper beginning to slump? Hope not, especially with the need to make up for the dead weight that is Prado and Mac…and maybe still uggla….and yanish and the 9 spot.
August 12th, 20128:58 pm
Braves seem to play better when Chip Caray is at the microphone. Scary, I know.
phil: Agree that Prado needs rest… he’s needed it for a while now.
Sheets is showing that he’s human… of course, he’s such a bumb for “struggling”
That IS better, faninok…
August 12th, 20128:59 pm
Sheets could use a quik inning or 2 here.
Good – an 8 pitch inning – maybe he figured something out. He’ll last a bit longer – now SCORE
Nice inning….get some runs
