The 6 man rotation actually works when you don’t have days off. Most pitchers are used to going 6 days after their previous start due to the almost weekly day off.
So if Fredi stuck with the 6 man and maybe gave some guys (Hudson and Hanson) some extra rest down the stretch, it might work out.
But we will see. No need to worry too much about it right now. Don’t know about you folks, but Fredi and Frank haven’t called me for my opinion yet.
Have they called you tiger? And heck, they all know you and the missus and little tiger.

From the Hanson story….After meeting with Gonzalez and McDowell, Hanson told reporters, “I’m not in a good mood,” then changed from his workout gear and left the clubhouse to go catch a flight back for the Monday game at Gwinnett.
Monday is Minors day in the rotation……

Yep, I like him right where he is and I bet the other position players do to. He is a lot like Sheets. He gets it, throws it. No messing around out there.
Sheets putting the ball in play and playing behind Maholm yesterday is a defensive players dream. 15 infield outs, 5 K’s, 0 BB 29 total AB’s. I can’t think of a more impressive start this year.

Don’t mean to cast stones but more players seem to be vocalizing their wishes/concerns to the media more than they did when Bobby was hear.
Freddi needs to get a handle on this! They can say what they want during the meeting but to the media during a playoff run??

Really, I’ve got no problem with Hanson being mad about having to go to Gwinnett. He wants to compete. I like that. (and honestly, I’m not a big Hanson fan)

From everything I’ve always heard part of the draw to the Braves in the past was the way the organization treated players. It needs to be reciprocal.
Bottom line – Pitch well and you keep pitching – Stumble and others pass you = The pen or Gwinnett

I like the idea of Huddy taking a couple weeks to heal his ankle, but if Hanson isn’t back up to first half

Funny how clueless some of you guys are. Begging for Bourn to be an all star and put up amazing numbers which all leads to him playing for another team next season. Dude is gonna get paid and we all know Braves will pay Mac over Bourn to stay. Personally, I want to see Mac gone because I think he is about to be on the decline plus he is soft like Chipper. Also get rid of Hanson for a LF bat while Hanson has some value.

I don’t have a problem with Hanson (or any other player, for that matter) wanting to get back as quickly as possible. So long as he was still respectful towards management. Heck, I’ve been known to utter a bad word or two in my days.
And Hanson hasn’t been as good this year as most of us would have thought, but I really don’t understand the animus towards him by some Braves fans. My guess is that if most of us got to know Tommy Hanson, we’d probably like him as a person. Just my guess.

Hanson has no value right now. Velo at 88 to 89. Had to sit last year with shoulder soreness. On the shelf currently going to a rehab start. I hate it for him but it is what it is.
Do you guys that want him to be traded think the scouts and GMs don’t know what he is right now? Be lucky to get few dozen balls right now for him and his salary. Would you trade anyhting of valure for him right now?

But, there were no reporters shoving microphones in my face as I came out of the boss’s office, asking me what I thought of the decision in question. I just went home and took it out on my family and friends, like any good American should do.

The next 6-7 weeks will determine whether Hanson has any real trade value or not. Some seem to be hell bent on dealing him for whatever reasons. I have said I’d trade him too, but I am saying that with an eye towards improving the team at another position.
Like maybe including him as a piece in a deal for somebody like Headley or Willingham.
Our man Uggla seems to be finding his way. I’m not ready to call his slump history yet, but I am hopeful.

What exactly is it that you don’t like about Hanson? I have not seen any of this spoiled brat stuff. Is it that you just don’t care for folks that were born and raised in California? I spent a wonderful 15 years in CA. Loved the place, still do! If I were a rich man, I’d live at the beach there (for one of my several homes).
Have you ever been to California? It’s kinda like Don Henley said in a song, call some place paradise, and kiss it goodbye (meaning that everybody goes there then).
As a matter of fact, in a week I will be traveling from one end to the other, visiting family and friends. Really looking forward to everything but the traffic.
You should visit sometime. I bet VJ and cab would put you up for a day or two.
BTW, looking forward to seeing you folks a another 2.5 weeks.

Pretty interesting article at fangraphs about the benefits, or lack thereof, of “going the opposite way.” And it manages to dump on Jeff Francouer too!
Spoiler Alert: when hitters pull the ball, they are basically 2012 Matt Holliday. When they go the other way, they are 2012 Marco Scutaro.
In fairness, the article acknowledges that the approach of trying to hit to all fields may be beneficial; but the result of actually hitting to the opposite field is pretty clearly not good for most hitters.

Some of you appear to becoming a little fraustrated with the Nats. That’s OK. If they played a 498 game season, some would still be thinking this is all a fluke after 401 games or so. They play withiut starting catcher all season, without Werth, Zimmerman is hobbled and this is all still a little shady to some of you. I didn’t go to Yale or Harvard but I still learned a little about giving validity to similiar prolonged observations. We will get a Wild Card but this thinking Washington is doing this accidentally is rather silly..

Here’s the deal with the starting pitching: So long as the guys are performing, why should Fredi change anything up? Good to see Reed Johnson have a good night in LF. Prado has been struggling since the break. So has Bourn, but he seemed to get healthy against Santana.
I wouldn’t be overly surprised to see Heyward get a rest tomorrow.
Maybe Mac needs a stint on the DL if his shoulder is bothering too much??

I’d love to see the Braves get at least 1 more good bat. We are losing two good bats in Chipper and Bourn.
Headley or Willingham are the first two names that come to mind for me, but there are a lot of good young players out there that are available (meaning that they would be available for the right price)
I wouldn’t mind seeing us make a run at Colby Rasmus for CF. I know nolie doesn’t like him and his attitude much, but I am wondering if Boss Man Junior has grown out of some of that immaturity?
