“Nats have been the best team in the NL all season…no argument, really. However, I believe they will fade, more than some other teams, including the Braves. Much of their success is based on their pitching”

How Ironic is that Phillies Fans were saying that in May???

Yeh, every coach from now on who has any kind of lead going into Sept. will refer back to the 2011 Braves as proof. Ugh!

Why the Braves when The 2011 RedSox colapse was half a game worse and they actually get coverage on MLBN and ESPN.

This is interesting… how do you know what makes that person comfortable?

I’m just deducing that that person isn’t comfortable with scouts knowing anything about “new stats,” as he calls them, because he seems set on playing up an imaginary stats versus scouts debate and taking the side of the scouts in this imaginary debate.

The Nats aren’t a good team, they’re a great team. There are some definite similarities between them and the ‘91 Braves. They’re not going to collapse – they have too many good players. If we’re going to beat them out, we’re going to have to earn it.

Well, I guess that depends on what you mean by “great team.” When I think of great teams, I think of all-time great teams. I’m thinking like 98-plus-win teams, teams that won that many games without just falling on the right side of a lot of close games and things of that sort but really dominated their opponents. I don’t think the 2012 Nationals or 1991 Braves quite fall in to the category of great teams.

Hopefully so, raliegh, though I remain skeptical that they really are going to shut down Strasburg. I think when they set that innings cap they honestly weren’t expecting to be in first place this late into the season. They’ve already started to hedge a little bit, with their GM saying a couple of weeks ago that there’s no hard-and-fast number on innings Strasburg will be restricted to.

My feeling is he’s still going to be pitching in September. Maybe if the Nats can open a lead of about 7 or 8 games, then they’ll sit him down, but if it remains tight, I don’t see the Rizzo having the balls to sideline him.
