Disgusted sounds like a guy from the Early 1900s, aka the Stone Age. (no offense meant)

Fastball last years 92-96, this year 90-93, curveball has taken a giant step back, biggest thing I see is fastball command.

Not good. As Efrim said, it does not compute. Don’t think he’s garbage though. Wouldn’t mind trading him this offseason if it’s for a good player under control…

I think his average velocity is around 92-93 this year. That’s fine and I don;t mind him taking a few ticks off. He never sat 95-98 or something. It;s the command that has been terrible and his breaking ball has always been inconsistent. Pitching coach from Gwinnett said he is working through mechanical issues, but he could be hurt. That’s always a possibility. He’s never had arm trouble though. We’ll see.

All I know is that it would be foolish to think he is done all of a sudden. Wren needs to take him off of the table in any talks this winter. Teams will be trying to get him to sell low and it’s just not maximizing this kids value to trade him. Be stupid, unless some team would overpay for Teheran and I don’t see that happening.

Sims Minor league Numbers to Date:

1-2 2.33 ERA, 7 Games started,19.1 IP, 11 Hits, 6 Runs, 5 ER, 2 HR allowed, 7BB, 18 SO and a .159 Opponent BA.

So pardon me if I don’t follow you in calling the kid a scrub (bust). He’s doing quite well so far. He’s allowed to have a stinker

I agree with all who want to keep Pastor on the roster. I have nightmares remembering Rafi Belliard bunting with runners on 1st and third in the playoffs, no one out (Cox idea) BECAUSE HE COULD NOT EVEN HIT A SAC FLY. OF used to play him at little league depth.

With Beachy coming back at mid season, could we live next year with a rotation of Hudson, Maholm, Sheets (if we can get him for somewhere close to Maholm’s money) plus Medlen and Minor, and trade Hanson and Delgado for a major bat???

Technically you are right. Prospects are just that. Prospects. There is always a chance that they blow up. Hope that this isn’t the case with Teheran…. to think of all the guys we could have gotten with him.

Okay The Only Braves Fan, you got me on the facts on Sims.

He is a kid who we might see in 4 yrs if he is good. I hope he does not hit a brick wall like Teheran.

He could be good trade bait for a decent low cost player, but low cost players have value, you have to give for those guys.

Like a Chase Headley, it would take more than Teheran to get him cause of his team friendly contract.

manolo, first off, I’m not in favor of trading Delgado (unless for a king’s ransom). I think he’s gonna be very solid as soon as next year. But I’m not calling him “untouchable.”

But that aside… the rotation you throw out for next year would probly be workable. Problem is, Hudson is likely gone after next year; Maholm’s not under contract after ‘13; can’t count on Sheets being around past next year, if that.

Trade Hanson and Delgado, and what do you have in 2014… Beachy (hopefully a successful return), Minor, Medlen, Gilmartin, Spruill… hopefully Teheran, I guess. Pretty young, pretty thin.

Mike inFL, I you make a good point. However, If we don’t have Sheets (around 6 million), Maholm (around 6 more), and Huddy around 9 million more, that kind of money can easilly give you a big name starter and another arm if needed. I will only make a Hanson and Delgado trade if it will net us a Mc cutchen (RH bat and the type of player who’s getting better each year). Or we could just give up Hanson (who still will be a great arm and over 10 game winner) for a less impact hitter. I have a friend of mine that is a Red Sox fan that told me they will give us Ellsbury for Hanson easily. Any thoughts? Maybe Nelson Cruz?? Hard to tell…

again – something is up with Teheran. Agree that fastball commad has been his biggest pitfall this year. Also includes command in the strikezone. You don’t dominate one league one year and then fall apart on it the next if it is just a lack of ability.

Mechanics are likely a big issue but I wonder if there is a psychologic issue as well. Teheran destroyed AAA last year and his reward – back in AAA. Has to be a huge letdown. Wonder if he developed some bad habits early on and this season is sunk for him.

Braves need to do one of two things – one the aforementioned pull him from AAA to work with pitching coaches, develop consistency with fastball command, develop off speed pitches and then make some starts in the AFL

OR

Put him in the bullpen for 2-3 weeks telling Teheran that if he does well in September then he will be up in September and possibly through the playoffs if he is effective in the bullpen. Keeps his pitch count down and will let him focus on the fastball command first and foremost with less pressure on the off speed pitches. If successful, build on the fastball command in the offseason by having him work off his fastball while gaining more mastery of his changeup and curveball (curveball looked the best I have ever seen it in his start versus Toronto)

One of the players is the old retreaded Hawk Al Harrington. Did not know he was still in the league.

Poor Magic fans, they cannot keep good players there. First it was Shaq and this time they lose Howard to the stinking Lakers.

The salary cap really did the NBA not a heck alot of good, they all want to be Lakers anyway, that is why I am not so hot on the NBA. Too much a players’ league.
