It seems like Braves pitchers have given up several long homeruns to Justin Maxwell in his career. I remember in 2010 when Maxwell was playing for the Nationals he hit a long grand slam off of Mike Minor.
That only serves to verify my post at 7:10PM, and NO I do not know why, it’s a strange stat. He’s given up 0 HRs to the NL EAST this year, but has given up 7HRs to the rest of the NL.(now Go figure!
I just noticed that Jonny Venters has not pitched since Sunday- any reason to be concerned, or is the team just being careful with him (that you may have heard)? Thanks!
Lance – every time the Braves get down a run, someone calls ballgame and the posts come fast and furious about how lousy this team is – makes the blog fun to read
Definition of Average: a quantity, rating, or the like that represents or approximates an arithmetic mean. See Maholm, Paul or pitching staff, Atlanta Braves
Geez, a new pitcher gives up one home run in his first game for a new team and we’re ready to pronounce the trade a failure and cane the second baseman.
Interesting stat Chip Caray brought up about Steve Carlton. The ‘72 Phillies had 59 wins. Carlton won 27. His Cy Young performance…
1972 – 346.1 innings, 1.97 ERA, .993 WHIP.
The Braves beat Carlton once in ‘72. Carlton and Phil Niekro both pitched 11 innings each. Braves won on a Mike Lum single in the top of the 11th to drive in Dusty Baker.
Remember The Nationals play 4 games starting Monday vs Astros and we play aganist a tough Phillies team. If we dont sweep these guys then by next week we could see ourselves out by 4 games

That homer off Maholm equals the number of homers he’d allowed in 39 innings as a visiting pitcher at Turner Field
