he is glad he is pitching to uggla
Impact Player. All Star. National League Strikeout Leader. Hitter of dropped Pop-Up scored as double by hometown scorer. Dan Uggla.
August 3rd, 201210:08 pm
slow roller in a slow game
Missy Franklin is awesome
pop up was not dropped
Or did you mean 90 yards? My mistake.
August 3rd, 201210:09 pm
keylargo – First to home is 90 yards. All the away around is 120.
90, kl… draw a diagram if it helps…
… and I see you caught it.
August 3rd, 201210:11 pm
C’mon guys…there’s no math…there’s no MATH…in baseball !!!
With Chip it’s “Dan has a double (lol), an RBI and 2 strikeouts. “NOT he’s 1 for 3…WAIT…now he’s 1 for 4.
And BTW…how can he NOT hustle?? Is he supposed to walk to first? Take only a step to catch a ball?? Lord, even Fredi would sit him if he looked like he was totally a waste.
August 3rd, 201210:12 pm
Only 4 fours after 7 innings against the lousy Astros? That’s it? 4 Runs! Same old weak Braves offense.
Uggla’s night: That “double” the official scorer gave Uggla was so clearly an error by the Astros SS. What a farce, a hometown ruling if there ever was one. Then in the 7th Uggla can’t even get a hit against a minor league pitcher.
August 3rd, 201210:14 pm
I thought thesame thing but evidently they didn’t start until after the lead and secondary. Still quicker than I would have guessed.
BTW, in a race between the 2 – Bourn wins every time!
learn some baseball, lost in the lights and never touched is not an error in either the OF or the IF
Time for Venters & Kimbrel (Hudson at 108 pitches). Amazing baserunning by Jose Reyes, going from second to home on a routine groundball got the Fish the fourth run against the gNats!!!
Both games are 4-1, with the right teams winning!
4 – 1 Marlins top of 9th.
August 3rd, 201210:15 pm
Freddie brought him back out to start the inning so he could get a standing O
August 3rd, 201210:16 pm
If the fish and brave hold up do the braves gain a game?
I hope they gave Huddy a standing O.
Josh Johnson – 8 IP 3 H 1 R
I sure wanted him to be the ace for the playoffs and next year. Willing to take the chance he’s finally healthy.
August 3rd, 201210:17 pm
they’re going to let Josh Johnson try for the complete game
Or EOF & Venters, since Kimbrel came aboard last night.
August 3rd, 201210:18 pm
great job by Huddy
So tired of Joe and Chip trying to sugar coat and cover for Uggla. He’s terrible. A complete flop. Chip’s dad wouldn’t insult our intelligence by giving us a bunch of B.S. and would tell it like it was.
It touched his glove but most times even with an attempted recovery and a deflection they’ll get a hit.
August 3rd, 201210:19 pm
Marlins score again!!! 5-1!!!
Glad we did not see THIS Josh Johnson!
The A Bomb
RBI single by Bonifacio….
MIAMI 5 WASHINGTON 1 TOP 9
don’t go back to nerdville
5 – 1 Marlins
August 3rd, 201210:21 pm
did it touch? only saw it once and I thought he missed it, but yeah when it is obviously lost in the lights it is usually a hit, almost always a hit when not touched at all
August 3rd, 201210:22 pm
Ain’t working…well, it will for our “real” fans…
But not for us haters.
Remember we did 2 series ago. Got a blister and had to leave the game and at that point we had 0 runs I believe.
Marlins have the bases loaded, with two outs, top o’ da ninth.
TOBF’s man-crush Greinke has given up 5 runs in 6 innings – open up that checkbook, Frank!
only here would supposed Braves fans bitch when a Braves player got a good call. stupid stupid stupid
August 3rd, 201210:23 pm
We did face this Josh Johnson July 23.. 6 IP 1 H 0 R We lost 2 – 1.
Greinke is scary to me, and Dempster dived too
August 3rd, 201210:25 pm
Sons of Anarchy Tues Sept 11
NBD, but I migta just left EOF in
August 3rd, 201210:26 pm
Learn baseball? Why don’t you watch the play on the field. The ball did hit his glove.
Pretty sure it did but you’re right its a hit all the way. Can’t give a guy an error because he loses the ball.
Usually they average out with bloops, nubbers, obvious bad hops, and balls in the lights neutralizing line drives hit at somone or guys making web gems on you.
Need a Justified fix though
August 3rd, 201210:27 pm
It is remarkable how many constantly scream error over untouched balls that drop in….
Sure it’s a cheap hit but lord knows, if anyone needs a few, it’s Dan!
My major concern with Uggla is that it is starting to look very mental. Even in the slump last year, he hit bombs because he could still turn on a cookie fastball. He is yanking on EVERYTHING, has completely forgotten about RF and is a groundball hitting machine, like someone we knew of recent vintage. That little opposite field gork he hit against the Dodgers earlier in the year to drive in a crucial run in a win is not there anymore in his repetoire.
I am not kidding when I say that Uggla is suffering from a severe case of McLouth-oma.
it was still lost in the lights, and is no error 99% of the time. stupid bitcher
August 3rd, 201210:29 pm
Hinske got a hit… You don’t see that every day…
he looks lost, no doubt MBBF
Score a run here just to make Kimbrel sit – save him after a long (26 pitch) outing last nite.
August 3rd, 201210:30 pm
Man we are quick to say someones bat is coming to life and getting hot because of 1 hit. Maybe I missed 1 the last game or 2 but geez. One hit does not a hitter make$@$TT You know what I mean
yeah noles, learn some baseball why dont you?
This Houston team has two decent players, Altuve and J.D. Martinez.
We will get a look at Lucas Harrell tommorrow night, but man they are stripped down, almost an expansion team.
August 3rd, 201210:31 pm
That was a nice at bat against a pitcher with an ERA over 7.
this pitcher has some heat
August 3rd, 201210:32 pm
Chip and Joe talk about Jordan Schafer having triple digit strike outs. Bourn has struck out over 100 times now too.
August 3rd, 201210:33 pm
I was thinking about that too Mafia
I’ll take an ugly double over an out anyday, but man, Uggla is not out of the woods. Might not get out till ST, still hustles and plays a decent second. Still need his production.
This is two months plus of nothing at the plate but walks.
August 3rd, 201210:34 pm
ok, I just ordered a Baseball for Dummies book Pete, I’ll get back in a day or two
We have too many in or near the century mark in that Kategory.
August 3rd, 201210:36 pm
Sure wish Kimmy hadn’t thrown about 30 pitches up by 5 or 6 last night
“can we trade Uggly for Altuve?”
Nope, they won’t do it. Hey, they have to have one decent player.
August 3rd, 201210:37 pm
The stupid Bonifacio with a webgem gives the Nationals a run…
5 – 2 now, Bot 9.
MIAMI 5 WASHINGTON 2 BOT 9
Bonifacio leaves the game with a wrist injury. Crazy Ozzie pulls Josh Johnson with 2 outs.
Josh Johnson comes out after 8 2/3…
August 3rd, 201210:38 pm
I’m with you, Mark….
August 3rd, 201210:39 pm
A great bullpen makes a big difference. Look where we were when the middle of the pen was in a slump.
WOW – 99 down the middle – WOW
August 3rd, 201210:40 pm
99 mph FB by Kimbrel to end the game.
Cishek in for the Marlins to close it out….
MIAMI 5 WASHINGTON 2 BOT 9
Congratulations to Huddy on his 100th win as a Brave! Well-earned! Great job again by Craig, and a really good night for Martin!
They need to sweep this AA team!!
99 and paint. I like it.
Until tomorrow, kids.
Josh Johnson is out of the game, Bonifacio hurt his thumb keeping a grounder in the infield, but a run scored. Two out, gNats man on 1st, 5-2 Fish, Cishek in to close…
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
August 3rd, 201210:41 pm
Nice win! #100 for Timmy as a Brave!
August 3rd, 201210:42 pm
I don’t think Shaffer will ever stay above 240 if he gets there to begin with.
MARLINS WIN, 5-2!!! BRAVES TWO BACK!!!
MIAMI 5 WASHINGTON 2 FINAL
The last pitch wasn’t 100 mph…
Cause for concern.
great win tonight. Huge to win the first game of the series
August 3rd, 201210:43 pm
BRAVES WIN< BRAVES WIN!! oops FISH WIN!!!
2 back. Nats lose to marlins.
Nice to have a shut down closer.
Best pure closer that we have had. Smoltz was the best but he was not a pure closer.
We have had three shutdown closers in Rocker (for 1 yr), Smoltz and this kid who health permitting is the establishment closer for a long long time.
Oh, I forgot, Billy Wagner for one yr. Wonder if Billy Wagner would ever be a pitching coach someday, he was a mentor to these guys.
Good day for the Braves – Huddy 11-4, pick up 1/2 game on the gNats – Uggla ’smashes’ a 2 run double – think I’ll check out the olympics
Hudson’s next milestone is Win number 200.
August 3rd, 201210:45 pm
Nice win, boys! Let’s keep it rolling….
And thx, marlins…
Gonna go to a bar tomorrow to watch Paul Maholm pitch. Read the blurb on him. Isn’t it great to have someone new on the team that WANTS to be here?!?
August 3rd, 201210:47 pm
I think I heard Billy W was coaching 13 – 15 year olds. Maybe his own kids were on the team.
What they doing tonight? Badmitton, rowing, mumbly peg?
Oh wait, maybe showing our pro basketball players scring 160 or something against Nigeria????
As you can tell, not a fan of the new olympics. But then again, its a good thing everyone isn’t like me.
Greinke has held the ChiSox to 6 ER on 10 hits – and to think I was against trading 18 people for him…
August 3rd, 201210:48 pm
Hudson has been a great Brave, better than I have given him credit for.
He only had one so so season since he has been here. Since the surgery, he came back better.
I hope he can be around after ‘13. Who says he cannot pitch till he is 41 or 42?
And the option for ‘13 is a bargain. Big bargain.
Mark – I DVR it – skip past the dumb stuff – watch 4 hours in about 45 minutes! I already know the results, but like to watch some of it.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
