LaRoach just hit a homer…now 4-1
Brian from SC
Cliff Lee has been claimed…wow. Wonder who it is…
August 3rd, 20125:05 pm
Come on Ken ? Jennifer love ? Get with the new age man. Go for Miley Cyrus
I dont know Hanson could be used in a trade this Winter to get a bat.
5. Delgado/Teheran/Gilmartin/Medlen/Beechy later in the year
Thats a lot of arms and we have been mentioned in some Justin Upton rumors so maybe since they are wanting a top of the rotation starter maybe we could trade Hanson, one of the pitching prospects, and Edward Sacedo since it was speculated that they wanted a 3rd Base prospect for Upton. Before I get everyone tearing me apart remember this is purely speculation and just random talk so dont take it too seriously
August 3rd, 20125:07 pm
@ Veer I still love Jenifer Love Hewitt and I’d take her over Miley Cyrus everytime
Go for Miley Cyrus? Got a song for you…..
Yeah, an’ I like my women just a little on the trashy side,
When they wear their clothes too tight and their hair is dyed.
Too much lipstick an’ er too much rouge,
Gets me excited, leaves me feeling confused.
An’ I like my women just a little on the trashy side.
Laroach doesn’t seem to have A.D.D. issues any more. HAND SHOULD GET A NEW JOB. Guy is pathethic. Should go and get a JOB at male inmate facility and do what his name suits him to do. Noway in hell is a MLB pitcher
August 3rd, 20125:08 pm
Veer: Demi Lovato or Diana DeGarmo (she’s a hometown girl).
funny I only pressed the Submit comment once yet it tripled posted
August 3rd, 20125:09 pm
raleighbravefan…at least no young girls in pain yet tonight.
Everyone’s assignment: Listen to announcers and see how many different ways they tell you:
1. Dan is doing great
2. Dan WILL do great.
3. Dan ALWAYS gets in a “slump”
August 3rd, 20125:10 pm
Man why couldn’t the Marlins had pitched Hand against us instead of Wade LeBlanc
Veer: Who floats your boat? Inquiring minds and all that BS.
J Hey Mila Kunis now she is the best looking girl out there. Can’t beat her. Go for Kunis Love Heweitt is old now
Diana DeGarmo is off the market. She hooked up with another Idol alum.
August 3rd, 20125:12 pm
I’ve noticed that Uggla has opened his stance up some in the past few days while not as drastic as say Luis Gonzalez it appears to have drawn better results in the past few games
if so may I say you’re wrong. Check his stats..he’s a .305 hitter lifetime, touching .300 in the bigs… @Pete-Really
check his stats yourself. everything past the first three weeks he first came up stinks. As soon as they got a book on him he has been toast.
If you are going to challenge someone on stats you really should know what you are talking about. and to quote his minor league stats is pretty silly too, the Ted is not Gwinnett.
He is just another AAAA hitter who will never amount to anything except in short spurts and will soon be out of major league baseball altogether most likely.
talk to me again about how great he is in two years or so “D
August 3rd, 20125:13 pm
J Man if your single post can become 3 just by mentioning Jennifers name then i can imagine what sorta impact she has on your body
August 3rd, 20125:14 pm
JLH has never shown the goods…got to respect her for that and it makes her a lot more sexy. And, she’s only 33, which ain’t old in my book. Sophia Loren is 77 and still hot as hell.
August 3rd, 20125:15 pm
Veer Jenifer Love Hewitt is only 33 and thats old to you. Man I hope I dont find you on the sex offender registry for statutory……Im kidding of course
Well ken i have to go with Mila Kunis and Pamela Anderson. Pam is a legend. She doesn’t age
August 3rd, 20125:16 pm
Man I’ve had a cruse on JLH since Party of 5.
Funny, I thought the team was doing great…but I see on the blog that we need to trade/DFA/or otherwise eliminate Uggla, Play Constanza, Play the Rev, move everyone around to a new position…and of course, fire Fredi. I can’t wait for the in-game comments tonight.
August 3rd, 20125:17 pm
The comments about Uggla are just copied/pasted from last year’s blogs… you know the ones… right before he went on his 30+ game hitting rampage.
Sit him! Trade him! Send him to the minors!
He’s awesome! UGGLAAAAAA! Best 2nd baseman ever!!!!
Veer: Pamela has had too much work, she looks like one to those blow up dolls they sell at Starship.
August 3rd, 20125:18 pm
The stupid, evil, corrupt fish are going to get swept, so the Braves cannot depend on any help to make up ground. Braves are gonna have to sweep the ’stros!
Pam doesnt age she just has more botox and collagen pumped into her. The woman has more plastic in her than a grocery cart after check out.
August 3rd, 20125:19 pm
Mila is very cute…she looks just like my second wife when we met (and still best friend), so I am very fond of her.
Hewitt never had the goods to begin with. Not what i would call hot and she doesn’t have the style. Hell Britney Spears or Beyonce would be better choice then her. Beyonce isnt all that bad. Now she has a body
August 3rd, 20125:20 pm
Well I’m actually being positive here raleighbravesfan so I hope you aint talking to me.
August 3rd, 20125:21 pm
Well good Veer at least I know that you aint gonna go after JLH so that less competition for me. Now I just have they rest of the male population to worry about lol
August 3rd, 20125:22 pm
Raquel never flashed the goods either as far as I know.Damn it!
Sandra Bullock flashed them but they were barely noticeable
August 3rd, 20125:23 pm
2nd wife and still best friend? How can you be best friends with an ex? got to be resentment. I would never make a ex wife or even an ex gf int a best friend. Hell i am enemies with all my ex gfs
Boy, things went down fast here this afternoon…
An idiot infusion.
August 3rd, 20125:24 pm
Veer: You have to be kidding. JLH has an awesome figure, especially up top…and they are real, unlike your girl Pamela.
August 3rd, 2012
What the heck was wrong with these women to begin with?
August 3rd, 20125:25 pm
“Hell i am enemies with all my ex gfs” Thats funny lol
good question phil
Just like you go to your fav restaurant and you eat your fav dish Like wise Pam is good to the eyes. If you go into the kitchen and see what the dish is made of and how they make it then you might not enjoy the dish likewise Pamela’s plastics shouldnt be an issue.
August 3rd, 20125:26 pm
Veer @ 5:23: That explains a lot and we expected no less from you.
August 3rd, 20125:28 pm
Mac just finished up as a guest on Intentional Talk. nice appearance – much like Kate Hudson.
SNEAKY PETE: Yes, you are right about Raquel. Still waiting for the goodies and she was in Playboy a couple of times and still hid them.
August 3rd, 20125:30 pm
Raquel might just be my all-time all-time
Raquel is still smokin’ hot, too.
August 3rd, 20125:31 pm
NIce to see the AJC. take the tabloid shock approach on the home page. Real nice. I guess enquiring minds do want to know, or not.
Hey, at least all this talk of hot women seems to have ran off all the loonies.
August 3rd, 20125:34 pm
Ken if you had to be best friends with ur 2nd wife then why she leave you in first place? Psychologically I see no logic behind it unless ofcourse you had an affair on her. I don’t blame you though one woman might get too boring for you just like eating your fav dish over and over again gets less tasty
August 3rd, 20125:39 pm
the whole veer thing has got to be a put on
August 3rd, 20125:42 pm
Veer: We had kids together and became best friends as the years went by, Time is a great healer except where the Braves losses are concerned.
I would think twice about moving Hanson, bottom line is that in spite of his shortcommings, he has win games when healthy.
The injuries are frustrating, but are U ready to give up on a 25 yr old. Now, it does depend on how serious and how he bounces back from the back injury.
Just trading him for the sake of moving him is stupid (especially if its a move designed not to pay him).
Is he going to decline in performance like JJ, that we do not know, but I;d hate to see them move him for mediocre talent just to dump a salary. And, for what Tommy has done he should command 6 or 7 mil assuming he is healthy.
August 3rd, 20125:43 pm
Veer likes to push our buttons, but I’ve learned to tolerate him. He has a good thought every blue moon or so.
August 3rd, 20125:44 pm
Great, two automatic wins for Washington today…
August 3rd, 20125:46 pm
you have more patience than I do. I find people like him quite tiresome when it is so one-note.
Whether he is really a moron or just a pretend moron, he is still a moron.
August 3rd, 20125:47 pm
Does not really matter what Washington does, we are really playing for the WC anyway.
The Nats are better, fair and square. And I like the position that the Braves are in, hope September will be better.
SNEAKY PETE: Most of the time, he is.
August 3rd, 20125:48 pm
The Nats are better, fair and square @Disgusted
August 3rd, 20125:50 pm
7-1 Nats…Wow, the Marlins are BAD….We’re gonna HAVE to sweep the Astros..
August 3rd, 20125:51 pm
I said earlier today we are in a pennant race like the good old days, so you better hold on, it’s gonna be a bumpy, fun ride and I think we have just as good of a chance as the Nats. I hope the blog can stand the heat, the loonies will be out in full force.
Fish have some young kid pitching. that was a gimme. Johnson might do better later tonight
August 3rd, 20125:52 pm
Does not really matter what Washington does, we are really playing for the WC anyway.
The Nats are better, fair and square.
Disgusted, I beg to differ. If unloading JJ and Hanson is done to free up money in oder to garner that much-needed LF power bat, or to have a fighting chance in re-signing Bourne, I am ALL for it. That GREAT trade with the Tigers for JJ only got us flashes of brilliance, but more aggravation and frustration that forced the Braves to make moves to compensate for his ultimate failings. Hanson’s injuries and second-half fades cannot be allowed to be a part of the 2013 team. Just the extermination of those two contracts – plus the elimination of Chipper’s, Lowe’s, & (to a very small extent) McLouth’s money commitments – allows the Braves to really have a chance to re-sign Bourn…
August 3rd, 20125:53 pm
All we done talking about bimbos? I was beginning to wonder if some folks went to lunch at Chik-Fil-A today and felt a need to get back in touch with their masculine side.
August 3rd, 20125:55 pm
This Astro team will be interesting to watch cause they havea bunch of guys that we realy do not know about at all.
I think I follow the game and have not heard of most of these guys.
Altuve is prolly their best player and as for Jordan “HGH” Schafer, he is just not very good. That is safe to say now, he should not be long for MLB.
The definition of the theoretical “replacement player”???
August 3rd, 20125:56 pm
Just because they have the money does not mean they will give it to Bourn.
Before the question even arises he has to bounce back over his last 30+ games or they will not even consider it.
Even if he does. I doubt they will stay in the bidding against wealthier teams, and he has no reason to pick Atlanta and give up money.
I will be surprised if he is back.
“we done talking about bimbos?”
we were until you brought it up again.
August 3rd, 20125:57 pm
Mac was great on Intentional Talk today, very funny ragging on Chipper, plus lots of other cool stuff.
McFann, I hope you saw it or recorded it.
August 3rd, 20125:58 pm
You have something against talking about women?
Does it disgust you or something?
Should we talk about hot guys?
August 3rd, 20125:59 pm
But if ANY of you think that either of the Upton brothers is the solution, you are pathetically mistaken. Those guys play for real baseball men – Kirk Gibson and Joe Madden. If those guys cannot act and play professionally for two very respected baseball people, one a near-HOF, MVP type; the other a WS manager who could have ANY job in the majors.
Just what in the hell does anyone expect from those guys in our clubhouse??? Their cancerous presence will destroy ANY team by the AS break.
August 3rd, 20126:00 pm
How am I a moron? I mean I asked a logical question regarding ex wife being a best friend bcause that is very rare.
@MiabeachBraves — If they do get a true POWER bat for LF as a result of unloading both Tommy and JJ then of course I am on board with that. I get it.
JJ is gone, that is a forgone conclusion. But Hanson is the one you can debate on.
I would not be on board if they bring in a Chase Headley type for LF, I would want someone with Nick Swisher type of numbers If we could get that kind of producer who is younger and cheaper than Swish will be.
And, I do get the frustration with Hanson;s second half fades, when you talk moving guys you do have to keep an open mind.
Now, I do not expect the Braves to land Swisher, but would like thay typd of player for LF instead of a Headley.
And if it means keeping Bourn, Prado and Mac around then that does make sense. Best case scenario is having all three together. How that is done is a good question.
August 3rd, 20126:01 pm
Stupid Marlins. Down 7-1 in game 1 with the Nats.
I would not be on board if they bring in a Chase Headley type for LF, I would want someone with Nick Swisher type of numbers If we could get that kind of producer who is younger and cheaper than Swish will be. @Disgusted
you really have no concept of the differences between stadiums, do you?
From Richard Justice MLB:
General manager Frank Wren has done a terrific job tweaking the roster again and again, seeking a better combination. HA Ha FW haters
August 3rd, 20126:02 pm
I would hope the Braves aviod the Uptons, we do not need their underperformance and excess baggage.
I would even be on board with Headley over any of the Uptons. And I am not that big of a Headley fan, though I see better numbers this yr.
Stay away from the Uptons. Nothing but trouble.
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
Hmm…that’s on MLBNetwork, isn’t it? ‘Cause we don’t get that…
Man, I bet it was good, though! Hey, did anybody ask him about his shoulder??…
August 3rd, 20126:03 pm
Marlins are losing? ButJoe said they had the Nats’ number!…
August 3rd, 20126:04 pm
Sneaky Pete — If you are major league, you are major league and stadiums should not make that big of a difference.
Left hander, right hander, swithch hander, stadium blah blah blah, its overanalysis, its still the same game one way of the other.
You think Headley is going to be a 25 to 30 HR 100 RBI guys at the Ted??????
If he could do that great, but I won;t bet the rent money on it.
August 3rd, 20126:05 pm
Nerdville’s a die hard Braves fan. Can’t you tell?
Headley puts up really good numbers away from Petco.
Can we re-elect Reagan on a write in?
Is it me or does Reed Johnson remind you a little of Prado? He is scrappy, gives you everything he has, tries on every play. A ball player.
hey haters read it and weep
August 3rd, 20126:06 pm
If you are major league, you are major league and stadiums should not make that big of a difference @Disgusted
an incredibly ignorant statement. I will pass on any more conversation I guess.
August 3rd, 20126:09 pm
Disgusted, since you “asked”, I have a question for those in the room today, including McFann.
If you re-sign Brian McCann this winter, how much are you willing to pay for his services?
August 3rd, 20126:16 pm
Great questiion Mia Beach — There are alot of variables such as how the market goes for the talent that does sign, the Molina deal with the Cardinals has an impact, and of course what the future payroll plans are.
If the plan is fixed on a 90 mil payroll for 5 yrs down the line it will be difficult. But if you do not pay Mac, what do you do. Fast track Bethancourt or go with some cheaper journeyman type.
Hard question to answer, but I say that they will have to give 5 yrs at 80 mil. That is alot, but if you do not………then management will face the consequences of losing him to a team that will pay.
Of the 3, Mac, Bourn and Prado I do hope they can keep two of the three.
Joe Blanton goes to the Dodgers
August 3rd, 20126:18 pm
Dodgers also own claiming rights to Cliff Lee
August 3rd, 20126:19 pm
Dodgers won the claim and this is after they just acquired Joe Blanton.
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô: Oh wow, sorry you can’t see it, it was great. He was very comfortable joking with Kevin Millar and Chris Rose about several of the Braves players and what other guys say in the batter’s box. He said Carlos Lee got real pissed at him a couple of days ago for a pitch Mac called to strike Lee out, but Lee was OK by the time they left town. He said that crazy dance he did after the walk-off was directed at his brother who was in the stands right in front of him. He said the fun thing now is the Ric Flair strut and shouting “Woooo!” like Flair does, apparently they all do that during batting practice. They didn’t ask about his shoulder, just his eyes and he said they were fine. He really ragged on Chipper being on Twitter and called him a “Redneck” away from the game. It was very funny.
August 3rd, 20126:21 pm
the biggest scoring change needed is the saves rule; managers allow the rule to dictate strategy rather than using their best reliever in high leverage situations–use Kimbrel late in tie games with guys on base—his ability to miss bats would really mean something, rather than entering when the bases are clear and the Braves lead by three or less
August 3rd, 20126:23 pm
@Sneaky Pete — And who te hell are you to call that in incredibly ignorant statement — sure stadiums are different but it should not make that big a difference.
Hey, look at Adrian Gonzalez at Petco, he was a stud slugger there. If you are good enough you can make an impact regardless of where you play. In fact A. Gonzalez was a better player at Petco than he has been playing most of his game in an alleged hitters paradise in Fenway Park.
If you are good enough you put up numbers. Some of the All-Time greats put up numbers in pitchers paradises, go back to Ralph Kiner in Forbes Field.
Ball park adjustments are overrated, thanks to the sabergeeks. There are factors, but the game is the game.
The saberdummies have Freddie Freeman rated below the 2.0 WAR, which is the bottom line for an everyday player. Come on, anyone who has watched Freddie this yr and last know that he is a major league starting first baseman. No firstbaseman leading the league in RBI;s at his position is a less than starting everday player.
So to H with you and your snide comments.
August 3rd, 20126:26 pm
a fan, it doesn’t matter what that article (which is true by the way) – people love to complain. They’re either unhappy people, or have gained this very bad habit. I work with some people who do what people do all day here and that’s fetch out anything negative they can find. They’ll even ake stuff up to be miserable about.
They’ll spend half a day on Uggla’s struggles, ignoring fact that his awful offense hasn’t stopped the team from taking off.
August 3rd, 20126:27 pm
Haha! Yeah, I woulda liked to have seen that!…
They didn’t ask about his shoulder, just his eyes and he said they were fine.
Aw, poor BMac. The eye thing was over in 2010—I’m sure he’s beyond ready to move on from that…Really weird how no one’s talking about his shoulder, though—seems like the kinda thing people pick up on…
He really ragged on Chipper being on Twitter and called him a “Redneck” away from the game. It was very funny.
That’s too funny! BMac’s not a Twitter guy—one reason why I’m trying to hold out and stay away…
.A thought about the game last night: MLB scoring rules should be changed to allow the starting pitcher to get credit for the win when the reason for leaving the game before completing 5 innings is a rain delay.
@Heisenberg — One rule I would like implemented is that a relief pitcher who comes in and blows a lead should not be given credit for the W. Never got that.
McCan is a dicey situation because of the position he plays. Just so much wear and tear (like an NFL Runningback). Your not gonna pay 5 yr. $80+ mil for McCann’s defense obviously, so do you think he can keep up good numbers (note his avg is still bad and has been on the decline since 2009)
or would you do something like the Cardnials did to Mike Matheny several years ago when they decided to go with the young Catching prospect and save their money and use that money for Matt Halliday, Wainright and Carpenter. Remember McCann is average at best defensively and his offense will hav to hold up because we are a mid-market team and really cant have too many bad investiments. But its gonna be a tough decision either way.
August 3rd, 20126:29 pm
The blog has basically gone silent with the team winning. Happens every time. Nobody wants to talk positive. It’s a reflection on their character.
August 3rd, 20126:30 pm
I don’t know. I think most of them make too much…I can’t see BMac making in the $20million range, mainly ’cause I think that’s an insane amount of money to pay/ask for…
I dunno…$12-15 million…? I just wanna keep him!…
August 3rd, 20126:33 pm
How about Francesca Eastwood or Paulina Gretzky.
August 3rd, 20126:34 pm
Not much to whine about.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
