Thats a lot of arms and we have been mentioned in some Justin Upton rumors so maybe since they are wanting a top of the rotation starter maybe we could trade Hanson, one of the pitching prospects, and Edward Sacedo since it was speculated that they wanted a 3rd Base prospect for Upton. Before I get everyone tearing me apart remember this is purely speculation and just random talk so dont take it too seriously

check his stats yourself. everything past the first three weeks he first came up stinks. As soon as they got a book on him he has been toast.
If you are going to challenge someone on stats you really should know what you are talking about. and to quote his minor league stats is pretty silly too, the Ted is not Gwinnett.
He is just another AAAA hitter who will never amount to anything except in short spurts and will soon be out of major league baseball altogether most likely.

I would think twice about moving Hanson, bottom line is that in spite of his shortcommings, he has win games when healthy.
The injuries are frustrating, but are U ready to give up on a 25 yr old. Now, it does depend on how serious and how he bounces back from the back injury.
Just trading him for the sake of moving him is stupid (especially if its a move designed not to pay him).
Is he going to decline in performance like JJ, that we do not know, but I;d hate to see them move him for mediocre talent just to dump a salary. And, for what Tommy has done he should command 6 or 7 mil assuming he is healthy.

Disgusted, I beg to differ. If unloading JJ and Hanson is done to free up money in oder to garner that much-needed LF power bat, or to have a fighting chance in re-signing Bourne, I am ALL for it. That GREAT trade with the Tigers for JJ only got us flashes of brilliance, but more aggravation and frustration that forced the Braves to make moves to compensate for his ultimate failings. Hanson’s injuries and second-half fades cannot be allowed to be a part of the 2013 team. Just the extermination of those two contracts – plus the elimination of Chipper’s, Lowe’s, & (to a very small extent) McLouth’s money commitments – allows the Braves to really have a chance to re-sign Bourn…

Before the question even arises he has to bounce back over his last 30+ games or they will not even consider it.
Even if he does. I doubt they will stay in the bidding against wealthier teams, and he has no reason to pick Atlanta and give up money.

JJ is gone, that is a forgone conclusion. But Hanson is the one you can debate on.
I would not be on board if they bring in a Chase Headley type for LF, I would want someone with Nick Swisher type of numbers If we could get that kind of producer who is younger and cheaper than Swish will be.
And, I do get the frustration with Hanson;s second half fades, when you talk moving guys you do have to keep an open mind.
Now, I do not expect the Braves to land Swisher, but would like thay typd of player for LF instead of a Headley.
And if it means keeping Bourn, Prado and Mac around then that does make sense. Best case scenario is having all three together. How that is done is a good question.

Great questiion Mia Beach — There are alot of variables such as how the market goes for the talent that does sign, the Molina deal with the Cardinals has an impact, and of course what the future payroll plans are.
If the plan is fixed on a 90 mil payroll for 5 yrs down the line it will be difficult. But if you do not pay Mac, what do you do. Fast track Bethancourt or go with some cheaper journeyman type.
Hard question to answer, but I say that they will have to give 5 yrs at 80 mil. That is alot, but if you do not………then management will face the consequences of losing him to a team that will pay.
Of the 3, Mac, Bourn and Prado I do hope they can keep two of the three.

the biggest scoring change needed is the saves rule; managers allow the rule to dictate strategy rather than using their best reliever in high leverage situations–use Kimbrel late in tie games with guys on base—his ability to miss bats would really mean something, rather than entering when the bases are clear and the Braves lead by three or less

Hey, look at Adrian Gonzalez at Petco, he was a stud slugger there. If you are good enough you can make an impact regardless of where you play. In fact A. Gonzalez was a better player at Petco than he has been playing most of his game in an alleged hitters paradise in Fenway Park.
If you are good enough you put up numbers. Some of the All-Time greats put up numbers in pitchers paradises, go back to Ralph Kiner in Forbes Field.
Ball park adjustments are overrated, thanks to the sabergeeks. There are factors, but the game is the game.
The saberdummies have Freddie Freeman rated below the 2.0 WAR, which is the bottom line for an everyday player. Come on, anyone who has watched Freddie this yr and last know that he is a major league starting first baseman. No firstbaseman leading the league in RBI;s at his position is a less than starting everday player.

I work with some people who do what people do all day here and that’s fetch out anything negative they can find. They’ll even ake stuff up to be miserable about.

.A thought about the game last night: MLB scoring rules should be changed to allow the starting pitcher to get credit for the win when the reason for leaving the game before completing 5 innings is a rain delay.
@Heisenberg — One rule I would like implemented is that a relief pitcher who comes in and blows a lead should not be given credit for the W. Never got that.

McCan is a dicey situation because of the position he plays. Just so much wear and tear (like an NFL Runningback). Your not gonna pay 5 yr. $80+ mil for McCann’s defense obviously, so do you think he can keep up good numbers (note his avg is still bad and has been on the decline since 2009)
or would you do something like the Cardnials did to Mike Matheny several years ago when they decided to go with the young Catching prospect and save their money and use that money for Matt Halliday, Wainright and Carpenter. Remember McCann is average at best defensively and his offense will hav to hold up because we are a mid-market team and really cant have too many bad investiments. But its gonna be a tough decision either way.
