I couldn’t find the Feller video on You Tube, but it could be there, searching that place is hit and miss sometimes. I did find a Walter Johnson pitching video…he threw sidearm from a double windup and his arm looked like a big whip. He must have been terrifying for right handed batters. If I had a time machine, I would spend all of my time going back to watch old time baseball games and players like Johnson, Honus Wagner, Ty Cobb, Shoeless Joe, etc. We’ll never know if they could compete today and at what level.

If you could only have one player,…
My jury is still out on this. I’m waiting for a full season.
As a note, personally I don’t take much pleasure in watching the greatest ball player ever sit on the DL frequently when he’s young. I loved watching Chipper, Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz and so forth because in their 20’s they played every day. And they played very, very well. And that sentiment is spoke from a fan/spectator of the game. I like watching guys play the game every day. I grant that there are some players who can play so well, that even when they miss half the season, they produce more than other good players. I just don’t take pleasure in waiting around to see which half of the season they’ll play.

I bet it was scarier for hitters not knowing how hard he threw, LOL. Verlander might sling it at 97, but you can see the radar gun reading on the Jumbotron, and know kinda how much you have to gear up. Before the gun, not so much. Other than, “I gotta start swinging yesterday.”

Glad to see that Prado is getting a night off. It was difficult watching him play last night. Probably the worst he’s played all year in every aspect. But as I said last night, he’s entitled to have that kind of game every now and then. Hope we get back to winning tonight.

Glad to see that Prado is getting a night off. It was difficult watching him play last night.
He hasn’t been injured this year, but I do wonder if he can make it through a full season without hitting the disabled list for some reason. I think some were throwing about 12 million a year over five years for Prado, and I thought that was absurd. He’s a good player – and I still want to extend him at seasons end – but for the three years, 27 million range on top of around 7 million he’ll get in his third year arb. so the total value is around 34 million. That’s at least what I’m hoping for.

What will 2013 look like? I believe pretty similar to this year. I really believe we resign bourn. Despite what it’ll cost he is a MUST. Unfortunately I think that will mean a fill in type at third or left with Prado at other. We will most likely move Hanson potentially looking to get that guy aka a sub left fielder or third baseman. Also he will be due a big raise this year. I think we bring back Sheets on a one or two year deal and re up Huddy with the last three spots being taken by a combo of Medlen, Minor, Delgado, Teheran. 2014 will be the year I think we make a splash with a big bat or ace pitcher with Hudson and Mac off the books. Your thoughts?

Talk about strict parenting.
New Zealand kayaker Mike Dawson made the semifinals of the kayak slalom at the Olympics despite being given a two-second penalty by his mother Kay — who is a judge at the games.
Dawson touched the fifth gate when going down the 18-gate Olympic course on Sunday, and his mother didn’t hesitate to penalize her son. It was one of two two-second penalties Dawson received, but he still advanced to the semifinals.
Dawson joked that he was tempted to get his coach to put in a protest.
That would have made dinner time at the Dawsons even more awkward. His coach is his father, Les.
Dawson says his mother’s penalty shows that she’s not biased. And he says, “I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I agree with you. That’s a lot of money to throw out to a young player like Prado, especially when he’s in his arb years. No point in rushing into anything yet.

In his last start for the Indians, Lowe gave up 7 runs in 2.2 IP. Since the end of May he has fuve starts giving up 7 or more Earned Runs. No way we want him in the pen or the rotation.

Jack Wilson, thanks for playing Dude. Paul Janish is now our back up SS, and for reasons which will escape most. First of all, Janish can cover SS and 2nd base, even 3rd if need be. Wilson’s a SS. Janish can at least hit his weight, which we can’t say about Wilson.
Which leads me to the million dollar question…..why was Wilson our back up in the first place?
As for our offense. Feast or famine. Go deep or go home. When will Fredi G. and his players learn? They have played some really good fundamental baseball at times, moving runners over, stealing bases, drawing walks but it seems Fredi’s troops get enamored with the long ball a little too much.
Off the beaten path………WTF? The Pirates have a better record than our Braves, not to mention being better than twenty-five other teams. The last time the buco’s won, Bonds was a Pirate.

Yeah, I misread what I was looking at. I thought we had Prado for 2 more years of arbitration, but you are right. Next year is his last year. And I would be willing to bet that before his final arbitration hearing comes up next year, he will sign an extension. That is unless he just wants to explore the free agent market, and we have no idea what he’s thinking in that regard.

Well the reality is, Jack Wilson can’t hit the ball through the infield anymore, at all. As evidenced by his three extra base hits including last season. Janish already has three doubles in fifty-five at bats.

Since May 26, Lowe is 2-9. He has given up 7, 8, or 9 runs in five of those starts – two of which he gave up either 7 or 8 ER in less than 3 IP.
His ERA is about where it was when everyone wanted him ridden out on a rail last year.
