He just lets his hips fly open before anyhting else happens so he can attempt to pull every thrown ball. Bust him in so far he can’t hit it fair then then soft away – Geez he kills me.
Mark–I hear you about acting to pull. Even that hit he got yesterday was outside and he hit it to left. He’s a mess right now. But he is still walking…
he makes that when he is in the majors I know, but I don’t know if he has a major league contract or not. I’m pretty sure that when they signed him last year it was to a minor league contract, don’t remember reading of an upgrade but I might have missed it
perhaps things have changed from the old days. DOB might know
Don’t know if you saw it, but Francisco has 7 HR in just 29 games, that’s an amazing ratio. No question if this kid gets a regular shot he will not be the best defender in the game but he sure will hit over 20 HR and drive a ton of runs. He has learned to hit the ball the other way even. At least he becomes an improved Adam Dunn, and look at what kind of money he got. I say, unless we get a right handed bat like Pence that fits us perfectly, give Juan a shot next year and if by mid season he has not produced then trade for a bat with all of the pitchers we’ll have with Beachy coming back around that time. Rain had let up at Turner Field, tarp was squeeged and then … CRACK. Thunder. Skies opened again.
The rain let up, the cleared the tarp, and the rain started again…. so a no-go for now.
Nolie, respect your comments, but you would not even give the kid a shot, knowing that even without Chipper we can probably win the wild card if our pitching is stable? come on… We’ve won a ton of games this year with Constanza, Diaz and others in the lineup regularly.
The game can be called anytime now guys – let the pen rest. With Sheets pitching tomorrow, they’ll probably have to pick up 3 innings – 4 yesterday, and Durbin warmed up a couple of times – Gearin was warm today. A day off for the pen is going to pay off later.
not a shot as a starter. I want someone this winter that I can count on not hope they produce once in a while. Francisco may be a decent back up but is poor defensively and only plays third. low on versatility. . I want Prado at third and a left fielder who can hit. Johnson re-signed over Diaz, and Georgie gone anywhere. we all think differently , I have almost no tolerance for hitters with low OBPs
When do they pull the plug on this thing? I remember games delayed by weather here in RICHMOND that occasionally would end up tied after an 11:-00 p.m. re-start, and go 13-14 innings finishing at 3:30-4:00 A.M. Brutal!
Live a few miles from the stadium. Rain had slacked off again, but picked right back up. Don’t know that it’s worth waiting to start this one back up, but we’ll see.
I won the black bean contest and E5 and Panda both passed out after I blew out the flame. I am pushing 390 lbs, so I can pick up some innings for the pen. Just pay me in Stroh’s Lite. Burp!
That’s a 39 HR pace over a 162 game season for Francisco. But he has hit 8 HRs, not 7, so that would be a 44 HR pace over a full season. I’m assuming you are talking about 29 starts, not games. He has 135 ABs. A full season as a full time starter would be something like 600 ABs, so that translates into 36 HRs over a season.
If I was Wren, I would give this guy some attention, make sure he gets some coaching and encouragement. I admit he doesn’t inspire confidence with his goofy cap position, his lack of conditioning, etc., but we give our young pitchers time to mature, so why not Francisco?

I’m pretty sure Janish. He’s actually been an improvement over Wilson offensively. Not much difference in the avg or the power, but he’s taking walks and his OBP is more than 100 points higher. And he’s been better with the glove. Wilson probably gets DFA if he comes off the DL. And on the playoff roster, back-up SS is more about defense. If Simmons has to miss a full round, it would be interesting to see what the Braves do.
Not a Francisco fan because of the Ks and not good defensively.
However, I have no reason to think that he would not produce better than Uggla(ZERO Confidence in him) so I’d move Prado to 2B(Have the best all around 2Bman in the league then) Flabby to 3B and have to find a LF thats a righty that can hit and a CF to replce Bourn.
