ok I gotta admit that Francisco is doing much better lately. still have concerns about how long it lasts and about his D and that he only plays third.
July 31st, 201211:15 pm
Janish! .176! (course BA don’t matter)
What in the world is Yawnish going to do now? He broke his lucky bat he got those 2 hits with yesterday!!
The A Bomb
July 31st, 2012
Uh oh. Francisco lovers in 3, 2, 1……….
Like him or not he is a Brave and the better he hits is making the team that much stronger…..
July 31st, 201211:16 pm
Hinske play for the Varsity?
Hinski is hitting below the Uggla Line!
July 31st, 201211:17 pm
The field just drained the rest of the water off because it tilted with Ski and Juan out there.
This umpire is freaking retarded…
Worry bout his belt line.
July 31st, 201211:18 pm
Francisco is one of those guys who has talent. It’s just can the Braves afford to give him the chance to show what he can do.
DS1 – They’d have to offer a pretty good package to pry DOB out of ATL. Too much team knowledge to throw away for a new gig. And we all know how much he loves the spring at Dark Strar.
He’s gonna pull a Chipper and stay until he retires.
Hinski, gotta swing to hit the ball Buddy
Lee in S GA
never bought into the Nats were not going to let strasburg pitch until October with the year they are having…the fans may have burnt the stadium down if management refused….he may get a couple of starts off as the season goes on…just depends if they still maintain a few games lead over the Braves
July 31st, 201211:19 pm
Eric and Dan need to join a 12 step program for hitters addicted to making outs
Two words Ski: Industrial League!!!
Capt. "Fly" Mudd
Francisco has a chance to steal 3rd here
The A Bomb
Francisco is a bench guy. He won’t play a lick next year when Prado’s moved in. And he has a hole in his swing low and inside that you could fly a 747 through. We gave up an excellent trade piece in Hoover to get him.
Otherwise, he’s great!
Dusty said that, too, GT
Hey DOB… can fans move down after the rain like they used to could at FCS
July 31st, 201211:20 pm
American Skigion League
July 31st, 201211:21 pm
This was not a bad trade. They got a back of the rotation starter and some bench help for a damaged goods one-time prospect (in other words, now more of a suspect than a prospect)
That’s a no-brainer
The problem is while this wasnt a BAD trade, it wasnt an IMPACT trade. Paul Maholm (career WHIP 1.4, 5.5 K’s/9IP, K/BB of) is not the same kind of player as a Hanley Ramirez, or a Ryan Dempster, or even a 38-year old Ichiro Suzuki. Put it this way. Maholm currently leads the league in hit batsmen. If he finishes the season atop that list, it might just be his most significant career accomplishment
This has too often been the Braves modus operandi in recent years. Other contenders go out and add a Porsche or a Cadillac to the stable. The Braves go out and get a good deal on a used Buick and try to convince their fan base they did just as well
July 31st, 201211:22 pm
Braves’ pitchers have thrown 76 pitches thru 7. Lessee if they can finish it off below 100…
July 31st, 201211:23 pm
Scott “big roll” Cousins
July 31st, 201211:24 pm
Janish might fit it well in tonights marlins order. Plenty of company in the upper 100s in BA
Wow, Bucs really going for it. Good for them.
I’d like to see Juan Francisco’s numbers with Dan Uggla’s at bats…would probably have more home runs and a better batting average with (at the worst) similar defensive acumen.
July 31st, 201211:25 pm
Porches and Cadillacs don’t go in stables.
Other contenders go out and add a Porsche or a Cadillac to the stable.
they are like me Robert they can can’t afford those things or it will really put them in a bind…Wren did the best he could
Jurrjens warming up in Braves’ pen…
July 31st, 201211:28 pm
The Braves are about to be 2 1/2 games back of the Nationals. I wonder if the Nats can hear those footsteps? They should have made a deal before the deadline. Now, any deal they try to make can be blocked by the Braves, at least while the Braves have the lesser record.
July 31st, 201211:29 pm
he would also make way more outs than Dan does
July 31st, 201211:30 pm
gonzalez and jackson should be good for 200+ innings.
strasburg and zimmerman are going to be trouble past 16 innings.
detweiler can’t be counted on for much more.
lannan is meh.
July 31st, 201211:34 pm
Everyone hits except Uggla and Janish.
July 31st, 201211:35 pm
I’m ♥ing the scores of the games lately. not only is it good for my blood pressure but it keeps down some of the worse in-game ranting
Uh oh. Mac feeling around his right shoulder.
July 31st, 201211:38 pm
I don’t know if I woulda called Mac streakin around third!
Well, that might be enough of a pad to trust Jurrjens with the 9th!
July 31st, 201211:39 pm
Heh, Freddie rubbing some cheetah blood on his bat.
“Maholm currently leads the league in hit batsmen.”
Melky Cabrera better get worried when the Braves come to SF.
Uggla kills another rally.
anybody with extra innings see the tv schedule come up for like 30 seconds?
I though the Grand Canyon was the biggest hole in the world. Then nolie speaks …
July 31st, 201211:40 pm
Even when he makes good contact, Uggla is useless… -__-
Jurrjens to pitch 9th for Braves with 7-1 lead
well at least we cleared Uggla….oh wait they likely won’t be back. anyway it is good practice for future games
how are they scoring all these runs with just 6 hitters?
July 31st, 201211:41 pm
Within a year McCann is going to be indecipherable form Curly in the 3 Stooges running.
Snake bit, I say. Even when he hits it hard, somebody catches it.
Need to sit Ugly and let Prado play second and reed play left for a while
July 31st, 201211:42 pm
surely you can do better than that….
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
Jerry Uh oh. Mac feeling around his right shoulder.
Yeah, I know…that’s really starting to bother me…
Have a good inning JJ
Yeah, ’cause things are going so badly…
July 31st, 201211:43 pm
Well, that might be enough of a pad to trust Jurrjens with the 9th!
July 31st, 201211:45 pm
The Mendoza Line has now officially been renamed as the Uggla Line.
nolie, your birth certificate is an appology from the condom factory.
JJ was super nice to my son one Sunday after Church in the parking lot. Wish he could figure it out and get those 4 mph and control back.
July 31st, 201211:47 pm
Seems like we end a few games on DPs these days. I’m cool with that.
Braves Win! Braves Win! Braves Win!
that was better, but keep trying….
Wonder if JJ knows he’s going down tomorrow.
now they decide to call it a wrap–mercifully
That’ll help JJ’s ERA a bit.
BARVES WIN! BARVES WIN!
July 31st, 201211:48 pm
geeze how many DPs did we turn tonight? 3? 4?
2.5 games back, good pitching from everyone tonite – and the bats did well. All is well in Bravesland
July 31st, 201211:49 pm
Ladies and Gentlemen and Other Life Forms, you Atlanta Braves are only 2.5 out. Don’t give up yet
Call me “Johnny come lately,” but damn, dude!
The crowd murmers and the pressbox cheers wildly. Yea!!
July 31st, 201211:51 pm
So the Braves go 18-8 for July. I’ll take that for August too – playing well right now. Can’t wait to read some of the quotes later on.
You had to have been born on the highway because that’s where most accidents happen.
Next series with Nats–Uggla has to sit; no time to screw around this late–need producers playing–we’ll just have to figure out a way to replace Dan’s walks for a few days/games.
Jurrjens ERA is now under 7. Glorious day!

Nite all. See you all tomorrow. Same Braves time, same Braves channel.
Anything less than a sweep by any contending team against the Marlins or Astros could hurt down the road.
Not sure Houston Astros would have a tough time against the East Cobb Astros right now!
July 31st, 201211:54 pm
Braves are catching teams when they’re just falling out of contention and before they can toughen up to spoiler mode.
Looking for a 10-0 home stand. Call me greedy.
nah, not as good
July 31st, 201211:56 pm
cab, believe it or not, I’m starting to believe that we are gonna beat out the Nats for the east. Not so much because I think we are gonna stay on this tear, but because I think the Nats are about to come back down to Earth.
its his time of the month USNavy
What’s that on your chin, nolie? No, the third one down …
July 31st, 201211:57 pm
I have always thought that the Nats would come back some this half
July 31st, 201211:58 pm
Geez. D Lowe gave up 7 in 2 IP (to KC) tonight, raising his ERA to 5.52. I guess we all knew his early-season magic was just that, but good lord, he’s done.
July 31st, 201211:59 pm
These silly insults are just ways to say I like ya. I like just about everybody here. All pretty much seem like good people and we’re all Braves fans.
August 1st, 201212:00 am
Love our chances, but the Nats are for real. Their biggest obstacle might be their youthfulness.
August 1st, 201212:01 am
usnavybrave, nah I think I like everybody here. Even Mitchell. I feel sorry for him though.
If I win the Power Ball tomorrow, your invited to my Ted Tailgate party in September, but only if you are on your best behavior.
nolie, I’m going to pay tiger to fly down and pick your old azz up for the party, OK?
August 1st, 201212:02 am
I’ll invite Mitchell too, though I am sure he would be “embarrassed” to come.
you smokin’ the good stuff tonight?
Nats go with their pitching. Pitching tends to wear down in the 2nd half, so it really might depend on their depth in the pitching dept.
August 1st, 201212:03 am
we are younger than they are DS1
I think it’s their unbridled enthusiasm that will get them in the end.
August 1st, 201212:04 am
our urgency will overcome them…..
August 1st, 201212:06 am
Play Marteeen at second and Johnson in LF for a few days.
August 1st, 201212:07 am
Concerning our youthfulness, that is probably one of the reasons why we are so up and down this year.
Darned glad we could hang onto Delgado. Though I think Teheran has more upside, there’s something about Delgado that I like. (I know you are less enamored with him than I)
Fredi annoyed by DOB after he asked FG if he was going answer his question.
Question: Medlen has another start this weekend. If he pitches as well again, what do any of you think will happen to him with a staff of Hudson/Sheets/Minor/Maholm/and Hanson? My belief is that he’ll return to the bullpen until he is needed to spot start. Then, he’ll be given a decent shot at a starting spot in spring training. Still, I’d love to see him and Hanson swap rolls for a while.
August 1st, 201212:09 am
DS1, would love to come. I’m probably the nicest person you’ll meet. Believe it or not. This place doesn’t even come close to what you might think.
August 1st, 201212:10 am
I’d love to see Bourn sit for 1-2 days with Johnson replacing him. He’s been struggling at the plate lately. Maybe use Pastornicky to replace Uggla for a day or two also. Leave Prado in LF or 3B.
But I’m not sure I’d take Uggs and Bourn out at the same time, though Sunday’s prove Fredi ain’t afraid to go short handed.
I like Degado’s demeanor and his mechanics and his change. I worry about his command for the most part. He is promising no doubt.
