DS1 – They’d have to offer a pretty good package to pry DOB out of ATL. Too much team knowledge to throw away for a new gig. And we all know how much he loves the spring at Dark Strar.

Francisco is a bench guy. He won’t play a lick next year when Prado’s moved in. And he has a hole in his swing low and inside that you could fly a 747 through. We gave up an excellent trade piece in Hoover to get him.

Otherwise, he’s great!

This was not a bad trade. They got a back of the rotation starter and some bench help for a damaged goods one-time prospect (in other words, now more of a suspect than a prospect)

That’s a no-brainer

The problem is while this wasnt a BAD trade, it wasnt an IMPACT trade. Paul Maholm (career WHIP 1.4, 5.5 K’s/9IP, K/BB of) is not the same kind of player as a Hanley Ramirez, or a Ryan Dempster, or even a 38-year old Ichiro Suzuki. Put it this way. Maholm currently leads the league in hit batsmen. If he finishes the season atop that list, it might just be his most significant career accomplishment

This has too often been the Braves modus operandi in recent years. Other contenders go out and add a Porsche or a Cadillac to the stable. The Braves go out and get a good deal on a used Buick and try to convince their fan base they did just as well

The Braves are about to be 2 1/2 games back of the Nationals. I wonder if the Nats can hear those footsteps? They should have made a deal before the deadline. Now, any deal they try to make can be blocked by the Braves, at least while the Braves have the lesser record.

Question: Medlen has another start this weekend. If he pitches as well again, what do any of you think will happen to him with a staff of Hudson/Sheets/Minor/Maholm/and Hanson? My belief is that he’ll return to the bullpen until he is needed to spot start. Then, he’ll be given a decent shot at a starting spot in spring training. Still, I’d love to see him and Hanson swap rolls for a while.
