You would think a continuation of this losing streak to be statistically improbable, but then again the Cubs haven’t won a world series in over a century. Maybe Dan Fuggly will randomly do something again.

Braves need to scale and gut the Marlins this week.
Oh yeah,……just remembered, their owner Mr. Loria has already scaled, gutted, and cleaned them.
All the Braves need to do now, is fry the fish. haha.

It’s a consistently inconsistent team….. enough pitching to make us think they will pitch well enough, and enough hitting to make us think they will hit enough. But, then, either the pitching blows up or the hitting goes Uggla on us. Now that Bourn and Prado have gone into mini-slumps, Uggla will start to get hot.

Not sure….they say the Braves prefer Josh Lester, but Boston doesn’t seem to want to move him…another article says: The Braves have also checked in on some relievers. Wade Davis has been mentioned among their targets, but the Rays also seem reluctant to move him. The Rockies have indicated former Braves top pitching prospect Matt Belisle is not available. But there is a chance they could move right-handed reliever Rafael Betancourt.

This streak is going to be snapped soon just looking at the August schedule. Our next five Monday games are against Miami, Philly, Washington and two against San Diego. We have to win at least one against San Diego. They are just too terrible not to.

PS- I was at that Monday game last August! That was Jair’s last win until he beat the Red Sox i

Wren and Fredi are not the brightest crayons in the box. Took them a long time to figure out that Medlen should be starting. Then, Delgado pitches better than JJ but is banished to AAA. JJ is dead wood on the bench. Cut him or send him to Gwinnett and get a reliever here. Or, Delgado as the reliever until we can see what Medlen can do. Nothing is gained by having JJ on the roster. Braves can’t let him relieve. He would give up 4 or 5 runs in an inning with his 87.7 MPH heater.

The only way Soriano to the Braves makes sense is if Uggla goes the other way. It can only assume that next year we pay big bucks to Uggla and Soriano –> lose Bourn and Dempster (plus no Delgado) leaving us with Hudson, Hanson, Medlen, Minor, (Sheets?), Teheran with Beachy out until after the AS break and of questionable readiness until 2014. We still need a CF and still have a deciliing Uggla and a questionable Soriano. This season it makes sense if Soriano to LF, Prado to 2B (expecting him to move again to 3B next year) and Uggla to Bench except when Chipper sits. Francisco will rarely start and does not add much as a pinch hitter. If we lose Uggla in the trade, then we have Soriano in LF, Prado at 2B and Francisco at 3B instead of Soriano, Prado at 3B and Uggla at 2B — Francisco is a better option right now than Uggla, and a much cheaper one. The net cost to the Braves would only be a few million more in salary differential between Soriano and ugla and would leave money for resigning Bourn and locking up Heyward et al.

Morris Code,

Assuming the original deal was Dempster for Delgado, then why would the Cubs add to that package Soriano for a mid-level prospect PLUS eat his salary? What do they get in return? Essentially paying Soriano money for a player not likely to make the major leagues. A Soriano Uggla trade might make sense for both teams. By the way, Soriano was moved off 2B years ago when he still had his legs — he was not a good infielder. How much worse would he be now when his legs have deteriorated and he hasn’t played the infield in 5 years?

@Jim, they would do that to sweetin the deal since they missed the boat earlier by Dempster not signing off on it. Just another “Manic Monday” for the Braves…

I understand that most fellow players LIKE Uggla as a “pal”…but this may be called a game & it’s not…it is a business. The customers are getting a little mad at a worker who makes $14 mill & cannot perform. Simple.

I want some advice from someone. Since these people think I am Samantha. Should I post as Samantha. Maybe it will make them happy. Good advice kevkat. What do you think about my idea?

Lets hope we stay clear of any KK, D Lowe type of deals that call for huge $$$ commitments for years to come. It would be nice to have at least a shot at resigning Bourn. About time to get that Monday monkey off of our backs…

Outscored 65 to 18 on Mondays this year!!! Our luck has got to turn. We are over-due for a blowout win tonight. C’mon Bravos! Lets turn this thing around starting tonight and catch those pesky Nats. Our post-season run starts NOW!!! Peace

It’s not a Monday thing, it’s a “following a day game” thing. Would like to see the stats on games that follow a 1:00 game.

16 in a row and it isn’t a Monday thing? All Monday games follow a day game on Sunday. (for every team)

Not sure where you saw that Chipper is taking the night off…facing Buehrle, they wouldn’t put Francisco in there at third, or Hinske in left…
According to the box for the game, Chipper is in there.

Hey DOB: Any chatter out there about the Braves looking at Reed Johnson from the Cubs to be a RH bat off the bench?

David O'Brien

Fredi G said he wants to give Bourn a day off soon, doesn’t want to run him and Prado into the ground, but that it’s hard to give a day off against, say, a tough lefty when Diaz isn’t available. Not having a RH bench bat is hurting them right now, and they’re trying to trade for one but pickings are slim. If he puts in Constanza to give Bourn a day off against a lefty, it’s another lefty bat in lineup against a lefty.

When Bourn does get a day off, it’ll likely be Heyward moving to CF, he said.

Everyone can stop wishing Uggla off the team. He is not going anywhere. Who wants a .210 hitter making 12 million a year? Just have to hope that he will start putting the ball in play. Braves should sweep the Marlins and Astros. We’ll see what happens.

Uggla is a class act, and he WILL hit. He’s helping this team in other ways and is an example to anyone going through adversity. I want Dan to hit badly, but hit or not, Im an Uggla fan.

Checking FoxSports and ESPN .. nothing on any potential trade by the Braves. I think that is a good thing. Can’t understand Delgado to AAA and JJ still on major league team unless Braves expect to use JJ to eat innings in a blow out.

Can’t understand the need for a day off for any of these players, DO. They work a three hour day and spend half of that sitting in the dugout. Give me that job for 12 million a year!

The best the that has happened to the braves this season is how disorgantized that the Marlins are. I am certain that Pujols is so glad the Angels were there to swoop him out of that pergutory.

Looks like Braves are trying anything to beat the Monday curse — every player came onto field wearing uniform pants old-school style, bottoms rolled up just below knee.

Yogi, I thought I might offer a suggestion that would be in line with your deep thinking. I think if the Braves can score more runs than their opponents on Mondays, they have a good chance of winning.
