Assuming the original deal was Dempster for Delgado, then why would the Cubs add to that package Soriano for a mid-level prospect PLUS eat his salary? What do they get in return? Essentially paying Soriano money for a player not likely to make the major leagues. A Soriano Uggla trade might make sense for both teams. By the way, Soriano was moved off 2B years ago when he still had his legs — he was not a good infielder. How much worse would he be now when his legs have deteriorated and he hasn’t played the infield in 5 years?
@Jim, they would do that to sweetin the deal since they missed the boat earlier by Dempster not signing off on it. Now that we have pulled out, they have to do something to move Dempster or they only get a compensary pick once he walks next year. At least this way they get a future number 1 starter.
For once I will try agin. I am not SAMANTHA. I am Amber. I am not perfect. I love God, I love my Mother. I love the world. If that is what this person has against me,There is nothing I can do. I am going to pray that this will STOP. It is not helping me. I WANT THE PAIN TO GO AWAY PLEASE.
So by doing that, they’ll be paying $17mil a year for the next what, 3 years, for a young pitcher (Delgado) who would normally be making the league minimum, and may NOT pan out to anything better than a #3 (what he currently projects as) starter…
Epstein has lost his mind…
I know there is no way they bench Uggla or send him to AAA. But that doesn’t mean I cant want it to happen. Maybe if he starts wearing womens undergaments he will forget how bad he sucks and start hitting. maybe the team breaks the monday losing streak tonight but starts losing all the other days of the week!
Say what you want about Uggla and not hitting, but the guys is a team player. He plays hard, and doesn’t loaf on routine groundouts. He’s had 2 pretty bad years in Atlanta, and it would be easy for the guy to loaf. I’m glad he’s a Braves although I’m sure I’m in the minority.
Beckett is on a team with no leadership and a manager who fights with his players and dimes them out to the media. I think he’d have a huge turnaround with the Braves…

Not to be even more hurtful, but I would suggest you stay away from the blog for a minute if that’s the case. You can’t control what people say and I agree with Tralfaz. If you’re not strong engough to ignore what people say on this blog then maybe you just need sometime off the blog and around people you can talk too and who care about you until you are strong engough to return to the blog and pay attention to those who are on here to talk baseball and not bash or criticize folks.
I understand that most fellow players LIKE Uggla as a “pal”…but this may be called a game & it’s not…it is a business. The customers are getting a little mad at a worker who makes $14 mill & cannot perform. Simple.
I want some advice from someone. Since these people think I am Samantha. Should I post as Samantha. Maybe it will make them happy. Good advice kevkat. What do you think about my idea?
Lets hope we stay clear of any KK, D Lowe type of deals that call for huge $$$ commitments for years to come. It would be nice to have at least a shot at resigning Bourn. About time to get that Monday monkey off of our backs…
Outscored 65 to 18 on Mondays this year!!! Our luck has got to turn. We are over-due for a blowout win tonight. C’mon Bravos! Lets turn this thing around starting tonight and catch those pesky Nats. Our post-season run starts NOW!!! Peace
Thank you everyone. I am going to take kevkat advice. Boyfriend are going rolerskating and ice cream. Hope I did not offend anyone. So God Bless you and thank you for your prayers. Go in Peace. Love Y’all. Good nite Go Braves!!! I hope this helps me.
Not sure where you saw that Chipper is taking the night off…facing Buehrle, they wouldn’t put Francisco in there at third, or Hinske in left…
According to the box for the game, Chipper is in there.
DOB, you’re Braves baseball blog is turning into another Facebook, and you need to stop it. Think somebody is just making up names and spinning a “soap opera”.
Fredi G said he wants to give Bourn a day off soon, doesn’t want to run him and Prado into the ground, but that it’s hard to give a day off against, say, a tough lefty when Diaz isn’t available. Not having a RH bench bat is hurting them right now, and they’re trying to trade for one but pickings are slim. If he puts in Constanza to give Bourn a day off against a lefty, it’s another lefty bat in lineup against a lefty.
When Bourn does get a day off, it’ll likely be Heyward moving to CF, he said.
Everyone can stop wishing Uggla off the team. He is not going anywhere. Who wants a .210 hitter making 12 million a year? Just have to hope that he will start putting the ball in play. Braves should sweep the Marlins and Astros. We’ll see what happens.
Uggla is a class act, and he WILL hit. He’s helping this team in other ways and is an example to anyone going through adversity. I want Dan to hit badly, but hit or not, Im an Uggla fan.
Checking FoxSports and ESPN .. nothing on any potential trade by the Braves. I think that is a good thing. Can’t understand Delgado to AAA and JJ still on major league team unless Braves expect to use JJ to eat innings in a blow out.
Can’t understand the need for a day off for any of these players, DO. They work a three hour day and spend half of that sitting in the dugout. Give me that job for 12 million a year!
The best the that has happened to the braves this season is how disorgantized that the Marlins are. I am certain that Pujols is so glad the Angels were there to swoop him out of that pergutory.
Looks like Braves are trying anything to beat the Monday curse — every player came onto field wearing uniform pants old-school style, bottoms rolled up just below knee.
Yogi, I thought I might offer a suggestion that would be in line with your deep thinking. I think if the Braves can score more runs than their opponents on Mondays, they have a good chance of winning.
