You are welcome……one other thing…..baseball contracts are based on annual and multi-annual production stats…..not one game, one week, one month……more englightenment for you.
A.nother nice play by Yawnish
July 29th, 20123:37 pm
is Fontenot about 5′5″ ?looks like a kid up there
@BFChris, so League to the Giants?
The difference with Uggla is that when he was having those better years, he was not getting 12M plus a year. He should be held to the standard of his current compensation, paid by fans in tickets, concessions, parking costs etc. This is not govt employment. He just is awful for the amount of money he is getting paid.
Remember at the start of the year when everyone was calling on Wren to dump Durbin and calling Gonzalez an idiot for sticking with him although he was struggling. Imagine if he and Wren had listened……ditto for Uggla.
July 29th, 20123:38 pm
Good inning – insurance time.
Durbin has been so good since the end of April.
July 29th, 20123:39 pm
Durbinator….Now score some runs before this gets uggly.
Braves fan always
why do we need a reliever?
moylan be here soon and now we have jj,he good for 2 innings
July 29th, 20123:40 pm
From what I’ve seen the home plate ump does seem to be having a bad day. Bobby “the Master” Cox never hesitated to let the ump hear it when he thought one of his pitchers was getting screwed. Hope Uggla doesn’t go on one of those 0 for 20 streaks again.
So…..you would bench him and still pay him all that money? I think Uggla knows full well what is expected of him…..and is trying his best to do it. But he never ever stops giving 110 percent on the field….and is the ultimate team player. GO DAN. GO BRAVES.
cause jj sukks and Moylan sukks against lefties
July 29th, 20123:41 pm
Moylan tweeted the other day that he’s battling some tendonitis…

You can definitely tell you are a gator. Comes from all those days of sleeping through class, or just not going to class.
Nah, I think League and Belt are two separate.
Yeah, yeah that Victorino guy really sucks. Wonder how many runs they’d have today if it weren’t for him. Oh, that would be ZERO.
Thanks for the enlightement though. Education and then Enlightenment. Can’t wait to see what you can do for me with your next post. Appreciate youe concern.
No Flag Since Lemke
Gator (and neighbor – live across the bay). From your lips to God’s ears, but I fear it ain’t happening. Agree on JJ but we seriously weaken our pen by removing Medlin.
July 29th, 20123:43 pm
not all players do that
guess u forgot braves lowe, kawakami, and who can ever forget hampton??
want more?soriano from the cubs owed 54 million through 2014,and good ole vernon wells from the angels
I wonder if the Phils regret letting Durbin go with there sorry pen situation? Maybe they would trade Victorino for Durbin? Nope….I would not make that deal either right……as Durbin is more valuable to the Braves right now.
July 29th, 20123:44 pm
just a few
braves fan always – Nope, you’re wrong dude. He had to play in that many games to guarantee his contract for next year. He announced before the season started he was retiring. Has nothing to do with how many games he played this year.
Besides, are you saying CJ could not play somewhere next year if it were just for the money?
July 29th, 20123:45 pm
Phils didn’t have Durbin, Nats did….
2:46pm: The Angels and Mariners are in talks for League, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports. The Mariners could be close to trading League to the Giants or the Angels, Gonzalez writes.
Well it’s Sunday and the Rev makes an appearance – nice at bat.
“Nah, I think League and Belt are two separate.”
Well I don’t know about that….

July 29th, 20123:46 pm
Pastornicky PH single on 8-pitch at-bat leading off 7th
Not if Moylan comes back soon and pitches like he used to pitch….but that is a big if. But I have stated many times that Medlen should have been in the starting rotation several weeks ago and that Wren should have spent his time trying to get a end of game reliever….but he didn’t. So we wait on Moylan to get here and see what happens….I guess.
Halladay: 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R (3 ER), 1 BB, 7 K.
Hudson: 5-2/3 IP, 7 H, 2 R (2 ER), 0 BB, 5 K.
Hunger Pence fields and throws like a 1920s RF
July 29th, 20123:47 pm
noile,ok i somewhat agree
lets be honest if our pitches stop going 5 innings, and go more like 7 innings like they have been then we r set with a reliever
lets say hanson gives up 5 runs and he will put jj in rest of the game
All those flashes panning the crowd @Ted and not one is seen wearing a USA shirt–as The Olympic Games continue in day 2. Doesn’t matter–they have their Braves attire on.
They did at one time…..I believe. But I will check.
Marteen is due. Lets go, Prado!
July 29th, 20123:48 pm
J.J. doesn’t suck, ask Fat Fredi.
we need about 4 walks
Phils last had Durbin in 2010. Durbin was with the Nats this year all thru spring training before they released him right at the end.
July 29th, 20123:49 pm
Durbin never played for the Nats.
He was a Phillie in 2009 and 2010.
Yeesh. He ’bout took the pitcher’s face off.
Jerry Crasnick @jcrasnick
The #Braves and #Rangers are not in the mix for Brandon League, sources say.
damn, yet another single where we do not score from second. that has happened a lot this season
July 29th, 20123:50 pm
My objective would be to sit Uggla, hope he can regroup, then hope he has a quick flurry so we could trade him, even if we have to pay half his salary. Put Prado back to second, and use the 5-6M to get a left fielder. Uggla was a desperate move by Wren, who felt he needed to do something, no matter how silly. Unfortunately, Wren has the reverse midas touch.
Right call holding Pastornicky. Prado smoked that ball.
Let’s not waste it here.
@JC Brave, you are wrong. Nats released Durbin this year at the end of Spring Training. That’s how the Braves got them.
The Braves and Rangers aren’t in the mix for League, Crasnick tweets.
heyward gets the rbi here…..guarantee
Way to go Jason.
That’ll look like a smash in the boxscore tomorrow JHey! Take it Braves – now let’s add some more.
Chad Durbin (aka Crash Davis)…..long time minor leaguer with a couple cups of coffee in the bigs)….looks like he has brought a ton of maturity and presence to the pen…..pound the zone, get ahead of the thumpers, keep it down in the zone…………………….Annie Savoy must have taught him in the minors about the……….. Church of Baseball……………..108 beads in a Rosary.108 stitches in a baseball……when I heard that……..heard he’s a quiet hoot in the clubhouse…
July 29th, 20123:51 pm
He slowed it down nicely, thanks
Huge run there. Break the Phillies’ momentum. Give the Braves a little breathing room with six outs to get.
How do you score that one?
why bunt a guy to second if you are not going wave hit on a hit to center?
That scoring has to change. That was a hit.
Chris from the Rock
July 29th, 20123:52 pm
Cue clown music…
Nats released Durbin this year at the end of Spring Training
Never played an official regular season game for the Nats. What’s the difference?
Durbin never pitched in the ML for the Nats. He pitched 3 years for the Phils (08, 09, 10)….and pitched for the Indians the year before coming to the Braves in a minor league deal (in the Nats minor league system at the time).,,,,so my post about the Phils stands.
Chipper – gotta run every one out – cost yourself there Hoss
Freeman due for a hit today.
Somebody’s gonna rag chipper….
July 29th, 20123:53 pm
Jerry Crasnick of ESPN just stated on twitter that Braves are not in the mix for League.
July 29th, 20123:54 pm
JHey is becoming the stud the braves thought he would be. With JHey, Freeman, and Simmons, the future looks bright.
Sweeeeet – Freddie w/2 ribbies – Chipper, where are you????
N Nine – Kudos. You called that one.
Freddy perfect—make ‘em bleed Phillie red
July 29th, 20123:55 pm
Huge hit by Freddie there. 6-2 Braves. Can’t call “ballgame” yet, but the prudent fan would start polishing the broom handles.
good stuff. saved Chipper’s butt
Sorry, just realized someone else posted the Crasnick twitter bit.
Nice 2 strike swing. Give yourself a chance when you put the ball in play. Good job Freddie.
Now, give Kimmy the day off.
July 29th, 20123:56 pm
Yup, Fab 5 was due. TY Freeman.
That’s the leeway we needed. Now we can rest Kimbrel and hope he is needed tomorrow night to break the Monday curse.
We’re 7-3,(counting this one) since the come from behind win against Nats.
July 29th, 20123:57 pm
Doesn’t Manuel know that Uggla blows against Lefties?
Chipper should have run that one out.
You two are impossible to argue with…
December 20, 2007: Signed as a Free Agent with the Philadelphia Phillies.
November 1, 2010: Granted Free Agency.
March 1, 2011: Signed as a Free Agent with the Cleveland Indians.
October 30, 2011: Granted Free Agency.
February 1, 2012: Signed as a Free Agent with the Washington Nationals.
April 2, 2012: RELEASED by Nationals at end of spring training.
April 3, 2012: Signed as a Free Agent with the Atlanta Braves.
…anyway, apples, oranges. I read it as who was the team who let Durbin go this year….the Nats. End of arguement.
I think the Phils would trade Victorino for Durbin right now….their pen really sucks…..but I doubt the Braves would trade Durbin for Victorino right now…..
July 29th, 20124:00 pm
I agree, I wouldn’t trade Durbin for Victorino either…
Back to my orignial post and point……since Durbin pitched for the Phils and not the Nats……I bet they wish they had not let him go right now…..THAT WAS THE POINT….with there sorry pen situation. You would have actually had to have pitched for someone in the ML in order to want them back….I would think.
Best thing that we could hope for there to keep a rally going
July 29th, 20124:01 pm
Could Uggla be showing signs of life? Gotta like his attitude. Saw him line out to second yesterday and the double today. Look at it this way, it can only get better?
Ross go Mammo here?
I get, JNick. He had a contract with the Nationals. He trained with them. But never played an official game where numbers mattered, hence he never played for them…
July 29th, 20124:02 pm
I get it*
Where are all of the ones on here saying the braves were going to lose 2 out of 3 this weekend. Where are you now. Yes you are being called out.
Hey a couple more runs here and JJ can do some mop-up work
Re Victorino … why do the Braves need another center fielder who will leave at the end of the year to free agency and who is having a poor season?
July 29th, 20124:03 pm
Believe the Braves have this one in the bag….opps….probably should have not posted that. But…see ya anyway……Go Durbin…..Go Freddie……Go Huddy…..Go JeyHey…..Go Chipper…..GO DAN UGGLA…..GO BRAVES!!!
Looks like League going to the Giants.
