The Phils have Victorino on the trading block…..and there have been no takers so far. Wonder why?
DOB is there any way that Mac gives us a hometown discount on his new contract? I know we have a option that only increases his salary by half a mil or a mi in 2013l. I know we would prob like to sign him to an extension, but worst case he is still under contract next year. The hometown discount would allow us to sign Bourn long term. Bourn long-term IMO is a no brainer.

Chipper got robbed there.
Yeah when his ex wife gets all of his money
3-1 brew crew in 3rd
95 strikeouts for Heyward through 101 games. Not that it matters all that much – but more than I thought he would at this point.
The ump hasn’t been consistent between pitchers – Halladay w/83 pitches and 61 strikes? Really?? Huddy can’t get the outside strike called – or maybe I’m a bit biased, but…he’s definitely helping out Doc.
Gio has given up a 3rd run…
July 29th, 20123:05 pm
12 more outs until a PHILLIES SWEEP!!…again!
I read the entire post. I will comment on whatever I want to though thank you
Victorino has some miles on him.
July 29th, 20123:06 pm
Kudos to Woody. Okay next question: Which Brave will get tossed by Cedarstrom due to his inconsistent strike zone?
July 29th, 20123:07 pm
But your comment was not a free shoe…..Nolie.
The Mariners are close to trading Brandon League to an unknown team, ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick reports (on Twitter).
Won’t be Uggla, according to DOBs column.
The question was posed Uggla for Victorino. I said I’d rather have him and gave reasons why.
Not suggesting it will happen.
July 29th, 20123:08 pm
Joe just threw my left hand hitting theory out there.
Go Brew crew,
3 games out would be a sweet thing and even more inticing for FW to go out and get somebody(s) to make a run at the Senators, uhh I mean Nationals.
What ballpark did the Senators play at BTW?
Brandon League from Hawaii
July 29th, 20123:09 pm
Here we go, BALLGAME!
Victorino 3-3 Woody
Any Philly in a Braves uniform would be sacrilegious, and almost oxyMORONic!
I am sure Chipper had a very good prenup on that second marriage after being taken to the cleaners on his first one……and after spending too much time at Hooters. He may look countryfied….but he is smart boy.
That was sarcasim directed at….Jerry….who said Bourn was terrible….read the entire post next time. Tampa Gator
WHAT!? Maybe you should read the entire post son. I haven’t even mention Bourn in weeks. And that was nolie who was talking about Bourn, but he says thing like that and everyone knows he doesn’t mean any of it. You’d know that if you weren’t such a newbie.
July 29th, 20123:10 pm
the guy who wore no 50 from hawii played with the mets
cant think of his name
he was a reliever
July 29th, 20123:11 pm
Still rooting for my Bravos nolie. They need to pick him off.
Griffith Stadium I think.
July 29th, 20123:12 pm
Sid Fernandez, starter for the mets
Sid Fernandez originally a starter.
So far today Victorino has 2 more hits than Uggla, 1 less strikeout, the same number of RBIs, and 1 more HR – Just today. Just sayin!
You have to tip your cap to Chipper on his retirement. He could have gotten 500 HR’s and passed Eddie Murray to have the most XBH for a switch hitter with another year (2013) under his belt.
He knew it was time and didn’t take the Braves money for a non CJ type of performance.
July 29th, 20123:13 pm
Braves fan always….how about leaving the “hooters” reference to those who are not Braves fans….oh wait, you aren’t one. You are a fake. With those kind of words meant to be disparaging to Chipper, thats all the evidence one needs.
Those that continue to mention something so old and tiresome makes one wonder if its not you that has a fascination with “hooters”. Now go back to you playground.
July 29th, 20123:14 pm
Huddy over 100 pitches, gotta get out of this inning and turn it over to the pen.
chipper had to avg.123 games in which he didnt
its all about the money
Chris from the Rock
I hope not on League. He’s been at best the third best RP on the M’s staff this year. Would be a big overpay. I wouldn’t mind Casper Wells as our 4th OF though.
July 29th, 20123:16 pm
Wow. I just got home and I see where Uggla finally got a hit.
Think the Ms took League out of the closer role earlier in the year.
can say what i like to and yes i told him this in person.dawg 88
go watch replays of hershel walker on steriods
July 29th, 20123:17 pm
Uggla needs to hold the tag longer. Victorino nearly slid past the bag.
Woody W – obviously the guy dogging Hawaii doesn’t remember the kid from the “Hawaiian Punch” commercials. Tell him what can happen to a haole with an attitude in the islands.
July 29th, 20123:18 pm
it is what it is
I hate Ruiz
Victorino still holds the high school 100m dash record in Hawaii.
****Skeezix****I’m sure you’re aware of the “Blind Squirrel Theory”.
Braves fan always-
There is no doubt he could play and get signed for 2013. Option or no option, he’s a Brave.
Huddy gives up RBI single to Ruiz on 107th pitch, and that’s it. 2 out in 6th, leaves with 3-2 lead, Venters enters.
July 29th, 20123:19 pm
the hawaiiiian is 3/3 today
Tater in Afghanistan
Everybody keeps talking about Pie. What kind of pie. I like pie. mmmmmmm Pie!
The game is starting to get tedious. We need to get a little more offense going.
True dat, key. Stupid is as stupid does, a great philosopher once said.
I hate that fat piece of crap Chooch. Really, the guy was terrible until he was 32 years old.
July 29th, 20123:20 pm
I wish the Braves would foul off a dozen pitches off of Ruiz’ sack…
what day of the week does the braves have the best rcord and what is it?
July 29th, 20123:21 pm
July 29th, 20123:22 pm
If Uggla holds the tag on Victorino – as his foot came off the bag at the end of his slide, but nope swipe tag and missed opportunity.
July 29th, 20123:23 pm
****BFA***** Heard on a show last night, it’s Friday and it’s 13-2
I know you don’t put the tying run on base but I wish we did a little better job of making guys that hurt us, and are hitting 358 or whatever it is now, hit tough pitches with a base open rather than putting balls down the middle with Nix due up.
Huddy did well though. Can’t be perfect with every pitch.
Quick hook for jonny. Lefty or righty didn’t matter last year against jonny last year.
July 29th, 20123:24 pm
14-2 on Fridays, best in majors
come on ruiz is the hottest philly all season
blame hudson for this idiotic pitcher
No Flag Since Lemke
Today’s game a perfect example why you do not move Medlin to the rotation. He is in there right now and gives you one or two plus innings. Instead we burn two pitchers.
July 29th, 20123:25 pm
bad feelings are trying to creep into my mind about this, but I am trying to be strong
Let me educate you about baseball……one pitch…..one out…..one inning…..one game…..one week…..one month……does not make a player. Uggla has been a good player in the majors for several years…..he is in a slump. They happen. He is an entirely different type of player than Victorino…..so…if you love Victorino and hate Uggla so much…..go become a Phils fan….oh….maybe you are.
From now on all Monday games will be played on Friday as part of a doubleheader!
Would this be Kimbrel’s 3rd straight game?
White Sox looking at League
July 29th, 20123:26 pm
Thanks chief, best as always in what you do.
Btw dob, wilburs babecue in goldsboro,nc celebrated 50 years this week.
Iknow you have eaten there before.
@Efrim, I don’t think Kimbrel pitched in game 1 of this series, did he? Wasn’t a save situation…
July 29th, 20123:27 pm
Ross get crossed up there?
Damn the ump is inconsistent as crap
And….on Tuesday….you will see why he was moved to the starting rotation….and if JJ was pitching Tuesday…..you would see why Chipper would have just taken the day off.
July 29th, 20123:28 pm
Thanks for the education. I feel more knowledgable already.
nats 1 bottom 4th
July 29th, 20123:29 pm
Overall a good outing by Huddy—very hot day, tough line up, and only 2 earned runs.
July 29th, 20123:30 pm
@BFChris27 I don’t get how the White Sox are looking at League when they have no good prospect to trade away
Gator – yes we will when he goes five max and we burn four or five relievers.
July 29th, 20123:31 pm
There’s the Uggla we all know so well—pops up again.
That pop up didn’t help the way I feel though
Who knows, but KW got Brett Myers.
July 29th, 20123:32 pm
@Skeezix, don’t forget – an inconsistant ump!
Uggla a no go….rain check….no…..wait for next one…yes–just like those darned 5.00 lottery tickets.
July 29th, 20123:33 pm
“Who knows, but KW got Brett Myers.”
And Liriano….and Youkilis….KW is not messing around. Going for it all this year.
What a great inning.
I have so much faith in winning this game.. NOT.
5 or 6 innings for Medlen in his first start….and zero to two runs would be highly welcomed……vs. 2 innings and 6 runs for JJ……and he will go 7 the next game, etc.
July 29th, 20123:34 pm
We shoulda scored more when we had the chance. always jumping out to an early lead and then stranding a buncha guys and them loosing…no urgency at all
Had Halladay on the ropes in the first 2-3 innings and just couldn’t put him away. He goes six and the Braves are only one run ahead. Bullpen better be strong.
Yeah, them too.
Senators played in RFK……………saw my first game live there in ‘69 with great seats down 1B line (DH day games with the Yanks)….saw Joe Pepitone hit a triple and Frank Howard hit one out……….) DOB, help me when the bloggers ask WHO on the above……………knew Venters would get in this game…………………we need one more insurance run…!!!
July 29th, 20123:35 pm
Anyone notice the fact that Danica Patrick is advertising for the Atlanta 500? The question that needs to be asked is: What warmup lap will she crash and DNF on? The way she is going right now the only thing she needs to be advertising for is a wrecker service. And I’d say the same thing if it were a guy and have.
why are we picking on Dan today when he actually did something?
2:35pm: The Mariners are trying hard to obtain Brandon Belt, Dave Cameron of FanGraphs reports (on Twitter).
Medlen will be facing the Marlins AAA team after their injuries/firesale. I think he’ll have a great outing.
July 29th, 20123:36 pm
Janish – NICE play – just like I said the day the Braves got him – good glove, no bat.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
