The way Pie is playing in Gwinnett, it’s high time he’s added to the 40 man and brought up in September. There’s a ton of dead weight on the 40 man. Viz and Beachy can be moved to 60-day DL and Cordier should be DFA’d.
Jerry: Hmmm…you misunderstand. I’ll explain. Firstly, I wasn’t “irritated” with people being down on Heyward. When a player slumps it happens. I was simply tired of the copycat bloggers that picked up on using the same tired “Wayward” moniker. Secondly, funny you should mention “consistant”…that’s exactly what differentiates my feelings about the two. Heyward was in his second season. Only a third season would allow an objective call on what his pattern would be. So, for folks to call for his job at that point was bandwagon-ism/fanaticism at it’s best. Uggla, however, has consistently shown a pattern of offensive extremes throughout his career & it’s hurt us more than it’s helped us.
If I have to explain that to you……you do not follow college football. FSU (Gilmartin)……U o F (Ross)…..needs a Gator catcher to help him win…..DUH. Tampa Gator
No, I got that reference. I’m just trying to understand how a Gator helps a Seminole to win. That makes no sense.
@Mark: Agreed. @WoodyWoodward: What I mean by “worse way” is that some streaky hitters go hot & cold for a couple weeks at a time. In the case of Uggla, he goes hot & cold for a couple months at a time…which is, in my opinion, far less tolerable.
Theory to the question of why left handers like the ball down and in.
I’ve always thought it may be due to the fact that a lot of left hand hitters are right hand throwers which is obviously their lead arm in the swing. Easier to drop the head and get the barrel to the low and in ball?
Again – Just a theory. As good as any other reason I guess.
No team has wanted to keep him on their roster for very long…..for good reason. The Cubs have been unable to dump him and his enormous salary…..but they have certainly tried….many times. No takers.
…with no power – yet he just took Huddy out. Anyway, I was being facetious. Like sarcasm, that obviously doesn’t transition well into typed communication.
I’m not saying Pie would be a savior, just that he’s probably a better option than Georgie. Pie is still just 27, he’s just was never able to meet expectations. I think he’d be a serviceable 4th OF in the bigs.
The ex-Seminole has enough sense to be on the same team as a Gator…..and the Gator always wants to win championships. Tampa Gator
Again, that is just dumb. I enjoy SEC football, but will never understand the incessant chest beating, especially when you currently have a shytty team.

Are you serious….”Bourn sucks”…..you talking about the all-star CF….great defensive CF….great base stealer….CF…..nearly .300 batting average CF…..great team player….CF……
Yeah boy….Bourn really sucks…..DFA and bring up Pie.
It has nothing to do with chest beating…..an all to do with being a proud alumni of a great university and great football program……and the team does not currently suck. It sucked in 2010….sucked less in 2011….and will not suck in 2012.
Nope, I called out Reed Johnson and you quickly pointed out his career stats and impulsively weren’t lauding him. Like I said, you did a 360 after a couple of days and were pushing him.
I like Hairston and little more right now but a deal with Cubs if anything transpires would probably be more logical if Reed ever came aboard. I still don’t intradivision trading of Hairston would be that big of a obtacle though.
We both are very much in agreement that this club is too lefthander oriented though. This team really needs to address if not this season with deals, in the offseason especially considering Bourn issue.
Josh Johnson went five innings and gave up 2 runs on 2 hits. Not sure why he’s out after 5 unless it’s related to the blister/callus that caused him to come out of the last start vs Braves.
He remains my hope for the Braves to get before the trading deadline.
When the season ends…..Victorino will not be 4 less HRs than Uggla or anywhere near in RBIs. But he is a much better average and on base player. But I would not trade Uggla for him…..
Tampa Gator…. I agree regarding Alfoso but lived in Chicago from ‘07-’09 and boy when he’s “on”…….he can change the manager’s thinking and in the 6 hole behind #10 and in front of Freeman, what a difference in power from the right side………….free swinger though and with Uggla behind him…..hmmmm…Was hoping he would be the rental RH RBI machine that could be “lightning in a bottle” like Sheets has been………just missing that RH bat and dependable starter to save the pen for the stretch t come….
It has nothing to do with chest beating…..an all to do with being a proud alumni of a great university and great football program……and the team does not currently suck. It sucked in 2010….sucked less in 2011….and will not suck in 2012. tampa Gator
