The way Pie is playing in Gwinnett, it’s high time he’s added to the 40 man and brought up in September. There’s a ton of dead weight on the 40 man. Viz and Beachy can be moved to 60-day DL and Cordier should be DFA’d.

Jerry: Hmmm…you misunderstand. I’ll explain. Firstly, I wasn’t “irritated” with people being down on Heyward. When a player slumps it happens. I was simply tired of the copycat bloggers that picked up on using the same tired “Wayward” moniker. Secondly, funny you should mention “consistant”…that’s exactly what differentiates my feelings about the two. Heyward was in his second season. Only a third season would allow an objective call on what his pattern would be. So, for folks to call for his job at that point was bandwagon-ism/fanaticism at it’s best. Uggla, however, has consistently shown a pattern of offensive extremes throughout his career & it’s hurt us more than it’s helped us.

@Mark: Agreed. @WoodyWoodward: What I mean by “worse way” is that some streaky hitters go hot & cold for a couple weeks at a time. In the case of Uggla, he goes hot & cold for a couple months at a time…which is, in my opinion, far less tolerable.

Theory to the question of why left handers like the ball down and in.
I’ve always thought it may be due to the fact that a lot of left hand hitters are right hand throwers which is obviously their lead arm in the swing. Easier to drop the head and get the barrel to the low and in ball?
Again – Just a theory. As good as any other reason I guess.

Victorino is about 50 points higher in average, only 4 less in homers, struck out half the number of times and has stolen 20 to 25 bases.
Its not gonna happen but what wouldn’t be good about that swap straight up?

Nope, I called out Reed Johnson and you quickly pointed out his career stats and impulsively weren’t lauding him. Like I said, you did a 360 after a couple of days and were pushing him.
I like Hairston and little more right now but a deal with Cubs if anything transpires would probably be more logical if Reed ever came aboard. I still don’t intradivision trading of Hairston would be that big of a obtacle though.
We both are very much in agreement that this club is too lefthander oriented though. This team really needs to address if not this season with deals, in the offseason especially considering Bourn issue.

Josh Johnson went five innings and gave up 2 runs on 2 hits. Not sure why he’s out after 5 unless it’s related to the blister/callus that caused him to come out of the last start vs Braves.
He remains my hope for the Braves to get before the trading deadline.

I agree regarding Alfoso but lived in Chicago from ‘07-’09 and boy when he’s “on”…….he can change the manager’s thinking and in the 6 hole behind #10 and in front of Freeman, what a difference in power from the right side………….free swinger though and with Uggla behind him…..hmmmm…Was hoping he would be the rental RH RBI machine that could be “lightning in a bottle” like Sheets has been………just missing that RH bat and dependable starter to save the pen for the stretch t come….

With over 2100 hits under his belt, Juan Pierre just might get to 3,000, depending on how much longer he plays. Turning 35 next month, it’s a distinct possibility. Correct me if I’m wrong, but Pete Rose and Rafael Palmeiro are the only players in the 3000 hit club not in the HOF (other than Biggio who might get in). Not saying Pierre is HOF material, but he’s been had a better career than you think, other than having the worst OF arm in MLB history.
