uggla doing everything he can to get his at bat over as soon as possible. I am posting after the double. He just goes up there swinging at every pitch praying it get hit somehow.
Say what you want about Uggla, but he’s a team player. Mired in his terrible slump, he was the first guy to congratulate Heyward in the dugout. And after that last hit, maybe the sleeping giant will awake.
No one ever answers the question about a second base replacement for uggly. Doesn’t Gwinnett have a player at that position? gonzalez has blind faith in this guy and he doesn’t deserve it. this has been going on long enough and requires a change. he is a drag on the team and they win in spite of him. get someone else in there and do it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awful lot of bitchin went on between his last hit and that one. I think the last one was about 3 inches inside the left field line but its been a while and my memory could be playing tricks on me.
I hate this SunTrust commercial, but have to confess I’ve gone back to SunTrust myself. Our local branch is fantastic. And since PNC Bank decided they don’t want me as an employee, I see no reason to keep my $$ with PNC.
sorry Jer, somehow I missed it. I would seriously consider that and would definitely do it if they could extend Dempster. Like you, I see it as either way i guess
#1, I’m glad Heyward’s silenced the blog critics calling for his job after his second, injured filled season. Didn’t know how much more I could take of the tired, lame, uncreative “Wayward” moniker. #2, I don’t care how confident Uggla is in himself. That confidence isn’t giving us offensive results. He’s a streaky hitter, in the worse way. I’m going to say that I think we should consider trading him. This is obviously his pattern. Though a hot Uggla can carry a team, a cold Uggla hurts the team…and he’s cold more often than he is hot.
I think where we differ is that I really don’t wanna see him extended because of his age and the fact that he is a power pitcher. Lowe wasn’t even a power pitcher and that signing didn’t work out. I would rather wait for Beachy to come back and hope that Teheran and Vizcaino are with the big club. Of course, that is all contingent on if we can have Sheets with us next year. Lotta ifs I suppose.
Really nice column on the Uggla slump, DOB. I’ve not been a great fan of Fredi’s, but his discussion of how to manage Uggla and the team through the slump reveals a thoughtful and deliberate plan. Maybe the most revealing interview with fredi of the year.
If Gilmartin (FSU) makes it into the Braves rotation next year…..Ross ( U of F) should always be his catcher. That way….he has a chance at winning a game in the major leagues.

I have struggled with that as well the last couple years. Maybe not struggled but questioned why Heyward was just murdered on here by most it seemed(when he was obviously hurt) yet Uggla can be horrindous(with no injuries) for days, weeks and months on end yet “he’ll break out of it” is seen much more than it was with JHey.
