Chipper Jones has raised his career batting average one point so far this year. He began at .304 and he rests now at .305.

For all the folks that are pining for the Braves to get out there and get active in the free agent market, please note what happens when some of that talent starts to age and you can’t seem to rid yourself of all the huge contracts: Philadelphia Phillies, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, etc.
Kinda nice knowing that the worst contract we’ve had in years was the Lowe deal, and that wasn’t half bad compared to some.
They showed it on TVLand back in 2003-2004ish—that’s when we started watching it. (TVLand doesn’t show it any more, I think they canned it about 6 years ago.) I’ve got the DVDs now (they’ve released all but season 6, which was only half a season)…

FA at the end of the year, trade price is high. They can wait and make their offer this offseason instead of trading for a guy that they will have to bench.
Murph – Pretty simple, actually…He will make a deal, if it makes sense, and improves the team. If not, he won’t. I trust him to make that decision. Winter moves may make more sense, anyway.

I’d say this team maybe could make the playoffs without making a move before tomorrow. Just depends how far you want to go in the playoffs. If satisfied with just making the playoffs then don’t make a move, want to go deep in playoffs make a few moves.

Im a bit confused on why wait till winter. I understand that there will be more leverage financially but if i recall correctly the CEO for the Braves went on record saying that there wasn’t an available player that was out of the Braves price range, prospects or money. Why not go all in this year to win it while you have a hot hitting Chipper and Bourn having a career year? Why wait to spend this offseason when its possible that you have neither of these guys on your team. Only a few pieces to add to this team and they would be serious World Series contenders. Don’t be satisfied to just make the playoffs this year and then spend in the winter. Braves may not be in the same position next year in the standings to be able to push for the playoffs, right now they’re in an OK position to make a push for the playoffs.
I trust him to make that decision. Winter moves may make more sense, anyway.
I think he showed he was willing to deal Delgado… I like the kid, but I doubt he makes it to next season in a Braves uniform!! If he could get us Dempster right now he’ll be able to get us a much better player in the offseason. Maybe a very good replacement for Bourn or a LF or a 3B.
And I required that they played continuously. There were a ton of guys from the old era who came back out of retirement to play a game or season in the post 1900 era.
“I’d say this team maybe could make the playoffs without making a move before tomorrow. Just depends how far you want to go in the playoffs. If satisfied with just making the playoffs then don’t make a move, want to go deep in playoffs make a few moves.”
Is their anyone here who really disputes this as well? Anybody think with the existing rotation we have they can overcome and make a strong run in the playoffs? Is this why Wren acquired Michael Bourn last season to just get there? I can’t see any possible scenario how this team can just turn it on come September and charge through the playoffs with Huddy, Sheets and Hanson and Minor or Medlen having to throw in a 7 game series. Just won’t happen IMO.

“Where’d he play??? Besides, the only deal I wanted to do with Milwaukee was for Zack…”
I think The Caller wants Hart because he can Play LF next year and Play LF when Chipper Sits
As good as Chipper is, he is due to suffer a nagging Injury, he can not Be trsted to play everyday down the stretch

I filtered that list to players who had at least 300 AB in their age 39 and 40 seasons… and assumed Chipper would get that many this year…
