Beyond that, Zeke works at his craft, doesn’t get rattled much, and will probably be “crafty” one day, I don’t think he’ll ever be a star, in any way, and it makes not a jot of difference to me.

From the video I’ve seen, his sinker is legit. And the HR rate makes sense because that thing looks really difficult to lift.

The curveball never really progressed as much and the changeup isn’t awesome. Back end rotation guy, and that’s actually pretty valuable.

Braves are going to get one of these guys like Beckett this offseason. Gavin Floyd is another possibility, I think. The switch to the NL is going to benefit both these ones.

I’m for it, too. Short contract. Nothing crazy.

Won’t rule out a trade of Hanson and bringing in two vets.

The Braves have a +40 run differential. They are almost back to their season-high run differential of +41, which they attained on May 18th.

After the 8-game losing streak that started that week, they bottomed out at +14.

They are at +22 over their last 22 games, with a 16-6 record.

Thanks for the grammar lesson

But the fact is the Sox needed an upgrade at 3B over Brent Morel and they pulled it off.
They needed a closer with exprience and who is not a rookie and he got them one.
Lastly, they didn’t even need a SP, they have a fine rotation but-to take pressure off it and to give guys like Chris Sale time to rest up for the strech, he goes out and lands Liriano.

The consesus is that he did not give up 1 single player in any of these deals that will have as good of careers of at least Youkalis and Liriano and probably Myers.

So, everyone can dismiss what I wrote, joke about it, whatever.
But it doesn’t change the fact the he upgraded multiple positions on his team. He did so with a farm system that isn’t anywhere in the universe as good as the Braves farm team and he was told by Reinsdorf that he could not take on exessive salaries.

As Jeff Schultz pointed out in his excellent article a couple days ago, every man in the Braves rotation has a question mark. It would be nice to have a proven successful starter to backup the rotation. Instead, their answer is put Medlen in the rotation, which weakens the bullpen. Moylan is not going to be ready and Anthony Vavaro has shown nothing in his stints with the club that he can produce, those were or are the best the Braves have in minors? And your back up starts are Jurrjens who ERA is one of the worst in the majors or two rookies. That is not very comforting.

But as it’s been said by many people on here. No matter the Wren does or does not do, there will be people on here that will love or hate what he does. There is no pleasing everyone.

But just about everyone on this blog is a Braves fan and you should all want them to have the best chance to Win and win the World Series. Am I wrong?…

And the Braves owners and front office are not acting in any way like they want the same things as the fans want, which is another World Series. If they did, we’d have Zack Greinke and he’d have a long term contract already. Instead, he’s in California. Bourn would be re-signed, instead, all reports have been that the Braves have made no attempt to engage in talks to re-sign him-their coveted lead-off hitter that they’ve tried for years to get and they’ll probably let him walk because they are too cheap. Yet, not cheap enough to pay top dollar for a second baseman who is hitting .210 with 12 Home Runs and 47 RBI’s. Bourn has 41 RBI’s!

So, one thing is clear. Wren has shown the willingness to spend money in all the wrong places. On players who don’t produce. Derek Lowe, Dan Uggla and he took on Alex Gonzalez’s contract in the Escobar trade…the best player of that entire deal was Tim Collins, it would sure be nice to have him in the bullpen right now with his 3.42 ERA and 67 K’s. But Wren handed him up on silver platter to land garbage…if he were a good GM, he would not have given up Collins for Farnsworth and Ankiel, he didn’t need to. Got kind of off track there with my point as I didn’t wanted to leave out Wren’s other waste of money in Kawakami.

The bad most definitely outweighs the good with regards to his moves as Braves GM.

With everyone, including the players themselves, calmoring for moves to be made. Wren sits on his hands and his “blue-chip” prospects, all of whom have underwhelmed so far, including Teheran.

Buster Olney‏@Buster_ESPN 4m Source:Cliff Lee is in play in trade talks today. Rangers obviously the most logical landing spot, with 3B Mike Olt as possible centerpiece.

This doesn’t make any sense. They need to be in “go for it” mode next year. Trading Lee doesn’t make any sense. They want to get younger with terrible contracts like Howard and Rollins? And there isn’t a ton on the free agent market after this year..

This to me feels like a house of stilts with another September crash on the way. Frank Wren has too many long shots in his arsenal to pull off a playoff appearance. Uggla has to break out…..Sheets has to remain dominant…Chipper has to stay healthy….and Medlen must produce after transferring from long relief. Without that additional trade for either a stud sp or a stud left fielder(move Prado to 2nd!!!!!)….I feel very shaky about this team. Just too many long shots. Kind of reminds me of moneyball. Your luck will run out at some point prior to your goal.

So the Red Sox called the Braves basically begging them to take Beckett off their hands and Wren’s response is…he’s too expensive. They basically paid all of Youkalis’s contract. I’m sure they’d do the same for Beckett. The Sox gave up nothing to obtain Youkalis.

So, Wren’s response to Boston is BS, he is just afraid, maybe he has not confidence in himself anymore. That is a legitimate potential reasoning. And if that’s the case, the Braves must let him go.

The vast majority of that differential came in Mar/April, when they nearly outscored their opponents 2-1 (113-60). They’ve been pretty mediocre since then, though they are a good club and playing well in July.

Is there anything dumber than Star Wars night at a ballpark?

Give me a second…

scoots Another lefty bat, CB. I’m a fan of the guy, but I don’t think they want another lefty.

dont get me started. dismissing lefty hitters to me is like someone touting a 5′10″ pitcher is to you.

Nope. Star wars night can’t be beat in my book. Besides it being corny, it’s just weird. What does a late 70’s movie have to do with the 2012 Braves?
