Diaz awaiting answers on thumb

Outfielder Matt Diaz should know by Wednesday or Thursday what’s to come next with his ailing right thumb. Dr. Gary Lourie put him in a cast on Friday and plans to keep him in it for five days to see if the wound will heal on its own. After they remove it, he’ll know whether he can begin a rehabilitation program and start swinging a bat again, or face surgery, which will likely end his season.

“Frustrating,” said Diaz, who is hitting .222 in 51 games off the bench for the Braves. “Still painful. So we’re giving it five days to do nothing. See what happens. See what track we’re on at that point.”

An MRI revealed foreign bodies in his thumb, which Diaz and his doctors believe are similar to what caused him problems in 2009 and 2010 – splinters from a palm frond he got while he clearing his yard. Diaz said he’s completed a course of antibiotics and there are still no signs of infection but the wound has not closed on its own.

Fu**ing Uggla in the line-up again today, fortunately we have been winning in spite of him but how long can that last!

Just think what we might do if we had 8 hitters instead of 6.

Need somewhat that rakes lefties in the late innings… Great role player… CR, anything on the front burner. before Tuesday’s DL………..??? BTW, living in Astro-World has been almost a surreal sell-off of epic proportions……a 5 year ???….rebuilding “plan” here….Will challenge the Mets 120 losses record…….plus, under new unproven ownership and in a new league…. Question, did FW have any interest in Wandy before the Bucs stole him??? He would have been a great #2…????

Only bench bat rumor I’ve heard is trying to get Scott Hairston from the Mutts…but they’ll probably be d*cks about it and ask for something ridiculous in return.

the problem with taking Uggla out of the lineup is today could be the day that he begins another streak in the opposite direction. We know how that can go.

Maybe Uggla should talk to McCann’s brother/dad or Chipper’s dad, since our current hitting coaches can’t seem to get through to him…

Interesting to note that Adam Dunn had a career worst year last year under Greg Walker…Dunn is a similar hitter to Uggla (HR or strikeout) but last year, Dunn just couldn’t seem to make contact at all – just like Uggla this year. Hmmm…

Greg Walker can only help good hitters. Hes nothing special as shown by Uggla,Hinske, and McCann slumps. McCann had to get his dad and brother to fix him.

McCann said nothing about Greg Walker helping him. I watched him live credit his dad and brother. Greg Walker is useless.

Amber Girl………Rice Village in H-Town has the best food, fun and BWW is great to follow the Dawgs and Falcons….Uggla needs a bloop and a duck to go along with the rip and he’ll wag the finger instead of tip the cap today….

Don’t want to wish any ill on Diaz, but I hope he takes his time, gets a second, third, even fourth opinion, or whatever it takes to keep him off the roster. He was too much of a one-dimensional, special situational player.

Ah, this is the thread for Ralphie and his fellow crybaby brethren… Ralphie, it must be pure misery to wake up each day to such an imperfect world… good thing there are lots of whiney folks like you and your ilk to cry about everything you can set your eyes on… somebody’s gotta do it… Glad to know your little ones can witness their crying daddies, too, so that there will be no shortage of blubberers in the future… Keep the flame burning, Ralphie… a-WAHHHHH, a-WAHHHHHH, a-WAHHHHHHH…

Role players will be available after the trade DL. Every team will put their whole roster on waivers and if they’re claimed they’ll pull them back if they want to keep them. Those who clear waivers without being claimed — and that’s most of them — will be available to trade at the will of the GM. So if Matt Diaz can’t heal or if he needs surgery, Mr. Wren will be able to find someone somewhere who is better against lefties than Pastornicky et al.
